Hello, everyone, I am new to this site!! Anyway, I am a wreck! I just bought a beautiful Oleg Cassini dress from David's Bridal, style #5438, and am having complete second thoughts!! :( Practically in tears! I had a very strong influence from my mother and bought it because it is obviously timelessly beautiful.. but.. think I really wanted something not so Princess-ish. I found a mermaid style dress that fit my body so well and accentuated my curves times a million and now I am thinking that that's what I really want! (+my fiance would LOVE it.) I don't know what I am looking for here.. either reassurance that your wedding is meant to be princessish.. rather than sexy.. or maybe someone who wants to buy my Cassini dress really bad :p I am getting married on September 24th and got engaged 9 days ago so this is just all coming together too quicky for me and I think I am going crazy!!

which one screams "the one!!!" if it's the mermaid then go for it post some pics of your dress here or on ebay and get the dress you want it's your day!!

i love princess type dresses i don't have "great" curves but i do have some so the mermaid type wouldn't look that great on me but i bet you would look awesome in whichever dress you choose!!, good luck planning

Your wedding is meant to be what you want it to be. If you really feel that this dress is not for you, then start looking for another dress if you can. Lots of people end up purchasing a second dress- you can always sell the first! Just make sure you can get the second before you do so! And don't let anyone "influence" your decisions like that anymore! It just leads to more of this stress! :)

Thank you so much- this has made me feel so much better! Despite the fact that my overly influential mother is going to be dissappointed in me (she fell in love at first sight w/the Cassini!!) I WILL do what I KNOW is best for me because this is my wedding.. Thank you, again!!!!!!!!!

I bought it yesterday!! (Jul 11th) Paid around $1,300 for everything!! New with tags. I am 5'7 1/2", 32/34B, 125. This dress fits me flawlessly and the only needed alteration is the bustle. I have earrings that are simply a long, skinny string of diamonds with a pearl at the bottom. I also bought the veil shown in the pic. I have the bra and slip, as well as ballet slippers. Willing to negotiate!! If anyone has questions, please let me know!!

You go girl!

Get the dress that is 100% all you. I had the exact same dillema (and I mean exact). However I bargained with the dress shop & managed to have them sell the dress for me. They did it within 2 weeks. It was completely off my mind and I was able to get the dress I had been dreaming about. So good for you!! I am so happy that you will be able to get the dress of your dreams!

Does anyone typically know how well/easy wedding dresses sell? Especially as I am asking $900 for it?!?! :D :o

First off, if your mother is anything like mine, her heart will swell no matter what dress you choose. I took my mother with me to try on dresses and she just kept saying, "beautiful!" "gorgeous!" "lovely!" She definitely has preferences, but she is just so happy for me and thinks all these dresses are fantastic. I think your mom will love a mermaid style even if it's not her number one choice.

Like you, I am leaning towards a bit of a sexier look than a princess look.

I think your wedding gown should be whatever style you like best. See if you can return the princess dress and get a mermaid one.

IMHO the gown is one of the biggest decisions, so take your time and find "the one."

I did this very same thing when I chose my gown for my first wedding. Davids Bridal will allow you to exchange it if you haven't altered it. Hopefully the mermaid gown you love is at David's as well. Call the store and find out. They'll probably tell you that you can exchange for another gown of equal or greater value, or if your new gown is less then the one you already bought, you can make up the difference by buying other stuff, like your headpiece, gloves, etc. Good luck!

That's my wedding gown.....and you and I are getting married on the same date too, September 24th!!! Just wanted to share :) , but aside from that, if you're not 100% sure that that's THE dress then get the one that is. I picked out the matching veil but had a change of heart so I bought a different one. You aren't going to be happy until you get the dress you want!! So go for it!! Good luck with everything!!!

I would suggest that you have someone else sell the dress for you on ebay. With only 5 feedback, people are going to be hesitant to send you the $900 you are asking. Look for a ebay seller in your area that can list it for you. They will take commission, but I really think you will get more bids/interest that way.

And yes, I think the dress is gorgeous, but if it's not the one then you can't make it be the one. Get the dress of your dreams and I'm sure this dress will be the one for some other girl. :)

if u just bought it good chances it hasnt been ordered yet. usually bridal stores do a monthly ordering so they can buy in bulk. try to exchange to same store

OMGOMGOMG!! How funny is that?!? When did you get engaged?! I got engaged on July 2nd and had a serious family matter, have not spent a thought on my wedding, have not registered, have not gotten my invitations yet.. AAaahh! Do you think I can do it?!?! I have the place reserved, an appt. with a flowers lady, an organist booked, a place for the reception TWO WEDDING DRESSES, no bridesmaid dresses, no groomsmens tuxes.. Please let me know if you think this is possible!! Anyway.. I know the Oleg is SSsooOO pretty. It didn't get ordered.. I have it at my house! I was kinda conned into buying it because the saleswoman said they only had 1 size 4 and if someone bought it, I wouldn't be able to get it in by Sept. 24th (I know I know.. ALL my fault!) Anyway.. thanks for all the suggestions! I went and put my Mermaid dress on layaway but it kills me that I won't be able to get out of the Cassini what MY MOTHER paid for it and hundreds of dollars will be lost! Breaks my heart! I had my dress on ebay for $900, it did not sell, so re-listed for $700.. Included is the veil, bra, slip, slippers, shoes and earrings!! I dunno what to do- I am a mess!!
