alterations?

i would love my dress to be one sholder strap with one longsleeve that is butterfly or bell sleeve, the dress i want will look like it gathers cloth to the side and will be fastened there with a silver snowflake pin. the top will have some embrodery on it. this is ideal and i have found a few dresses that matche this discription except for the long sleve and the snowflake pin (i can easily buy) so my question is can the dress be altared? can i take one strap off and maybe add the sleave i want?

I think a good alterations person could definately do that. Just make sure they know exactly what you want. Also, look on some of the other threads...I think SarahK had found a place that would copy designer dresses and change them based on what you want. It might work to your advantage to have someone just make the dress for you how you want it. Look at SarahK's wedding planning journal, she has a dress that the company that copies makes and she could probably give you the web address to see if they could make what you want.
