Anyone planning on going to Disney World for their honeymoon? We are planning on staying at the Port Orleans-French Quarters.
I am hoping someone can give me some info on their experiences at this resort or any disney resort in general.
Thanks!

Well...marcia used to work at one of the Disney Resorts, so she can probab;y give more advice than I can. I have stayed a lot of them though...they are all nice, so you don't need to worry about that. The only thing I don't like about some of the Disney resorts is that for some of them you have to walk outside to get from you room to other areas in the hotel. So, if it is raining, you are screwed. I can't remember if Port Orleans is like that, but I am pretty sure it is.
We are going on the Disney cruise, but since our cruise doesn't leave until Thursday we will be spending a few nights is a honeymoon suite at Disney. We live nearby and since so much of my family is traveling from NY (and his from IN) we thought it would be nice to get to visit with them at the parks.

I have stayed at Port Orleans twice already with my FH, but we have stayed in the Riverside and not the French Quarter. They are both the same except for decor. I like old Southern mansions and in the Riverside that have it, it's called Magnolia Way. We stayed there in June (and it was georgous! I absolutely loved it. We got a king sized bed and we had two sinks, a tiny little fridge, and it was wonderful! I don't know if you care about that but I liked it anyway. I'm actually hoping to spend a couple of days there for my honeymoon, which isn't until 2007 .
Yes, you do have to walk to the other places you want to go to but it's a great form of exercise and there are buses to take you to the resorts if you don't bring a car.
My finace purposed to me at Disney on June 16! On Mainstreet with Cinderella's Castle behind us!!! :D

the only resort i can speak for with 100% assurance is the Caribbean Beach. That is where i worked at and Harry still works PT. But ive been to all the resorts and go to them for dinner on a regular basis. If i had my choice i would do animal kingdom or the polly. BUT they are all nice in there own right. Disney is a great choice for a honey moon as long as you dont go during PEAK times. I actually went there in septemer of 98 (for my first honey moon) and we got on every ride with in 10 min or less. Best time ever!! Now that i live here we only go in september, oct, nov, dec, jan, feb & may. All other times are horrible for us and since we live here we shouldnt have to wait in line, YES WE ARE SPOILED!!!!!

We have purchased our honeymoon!!! We are staying at the beach club villas at Disney. We rented a timeshare for that and the best part...we don't have to go to any timeshare meetings.
I just want to say thanks for everyone's input, I appreciate it. We just moved into our new apartment this weekend and I'm pretty beat so now its bedtime :D Good night everyone.

coronado springs!! its a great hotel!
beach resort is one of my favorites.!!! eat at beaches and cream they have the best burgers and ice crea. Let them take your luggage for you, and meet my buddy Mark. He works 16 hours a day so i know u will run into him. (hes **** hottt) anyway, they have a lazy river for a pool with a slide and a pirates ship. whats nice about beach club is you can take the boat over to mgm and epcot. SO you never have to drive there.
MEARS shuttle is just as expensive for a taxi. mears 25.00 pp... taxi 50.00 for up to 5 ppl.. SO if u want to get to dinsey faster take a cab.

We are also going to be going to Disney World for our honeymoon. We found this thing online about how Disney offers wedding and honeymoon packages and deals. We called to get some info on it and they are going to send it. Anyone else check into that stuff? Is it worth it?

I have the Wedding and Honeymoon package that they send. I requested it ages ago (I think before I even met my FH) just out of curiousity. It is mostly info on doing the actual wedding there.

disney is the best, and if you go on your honeymoon you can get the mickey hats for the bride and groom.
(shaun got down on his knee right in front of the castle!)
good memories, and if you are a kid at heart, i say go for it!

MY FH just booked our honeymoon in Disney at Boardwalk Inn in one of the Garden Suites. Wow! Will I be spoiled! I've never stayed anywhere so expensive and probably never will again, but you only do the honeymoon once. Now that he has booked it, he is worried about how we will pay, but we'll just have to figure it out.
Anyone have any info on Boardwalk Inn or the Garden Suites? Anything on the boardwalk we should make sure we don't miss?
Thanks! :)

board walk is AWESOME!!!! YOu wont need transportation in orlando because staying at the boardwalk you can take the boat to and from the parks. FLying Fish cafe is sooooooo yummmy and dont miss a night on the boardwalk its super fun all kinds of things going on there. Jelly ROlls is a duling piano bar(cast members love that place) You can rent Surrey bikes and ride all over there property. THe fireworks from eEPCOT can be seen from the bridge at 9pm daily. gosh i can go on and on its a wonderful place.

HMMMM Nope they didn't tell us that. They told us magical express was free. Shoot! I told FH just to do that because it was free. Maybe they'll let me cancel it? I have to call anyway, because he booked it without my AAA card. Want to see if they will give me the discount. I know Boardwalk does the AAA thing.
Anyway, sounds awesome! Thanks for the advice. Yeah I think it should be fun in May. It might start to get crowded as we are leaving (Memorial Day Weekend). It should all be fun though. I really like Epcot and MGM and I know we will be close to them. FH wants to take the boat out to watch illuminations too, but he will change his mind on that if and when he remembers that we are really not made of money. He's a student, he is not even making any :) His Mom is wonderful and is helping us pay for this, though.

We are now considering going to Disney World for our honeymoon. We need to decide something soon since our wedding and honeymoon are now less than 4 months away. We have been procratinating a little! We've both only been to disney once. I went in 98 and we stayed at what was then called Dixie Landings but now it is part of Port Orleans. FH went when he was like 6 and he doesn't remember where they stayed.
We just started thinking about disney like yesterday so I haven't even really thougth a whole lot about where we would stay. In a way I would like something "honeymoonish" (a jacuzzi tub would be wonderful) but then again disney is such an on-the-go vacation that I know we won't be in the room too much (although it will be our honeymoon).
We're not sure how many days we want to go for. Any suggestions? Any hints or tips on discounts, etc. would be really helpful also. Any info in general would be great!
