TiVo is a gift from the mighty Gods of Television. There is never a time when I don't have at least one episode of M*A*S*H or The XFiles for my personal enjoyment. Not to mention you can program it to record by actor or director. I know a lot of cable companies are offering them now as digital video recorders so maybe that is something that you want to look into.

OK neither my FH nor I had every seen Bridezillas before. So last night when we got home we sat down and watched a couple of episodes. OMG! Those were the worst women. They sucked every amount of joy out of their wedding planning. Ahh! MY FH said that they were the most miserable self centered people he had ever witnessed. I had to agree. I told him if I EVER started to act that way to break the engagement and send me packing.

By the way were we the only people to have witnessed a show on FOX called Surprise Weddings It was a few years ago when reality tv was still new. Anyway they had these women who were so desperate to get married. They lured their boyfriends to Las Vegas under the pretense that they (the women) were to receive an award for their particular career. Apparently their sig. other was invited to present the award at the "conference." Only when the unsuspecting men walk on stage it wasn't a conference. It was the host of the show standing with the girlfriend dressed in a bridal gown demanding that they get married there on the spot. The men were given like 10 minutes in a private room to decide. All but one of them went along with the program. The other guy, my FH and I's hero went into this big story about how he knew she wanted the big traditional wedding. He told her they would start planning as soon as they got home. Apparently as soon as the plane landed at home he broke up with her. His reasoning...it was a 4 hour flight that he had to sit with her on. He wanted her happy until they landed. We LOVED that show.

Ok, so i watched the episodes last night...who thought that one bride, Adriana who was like 19 and crying that she was too scared to go up the aisle was just a bit too young and immature to get married??

Anyway, Lacey I saw that surprise weddings...I can't believe anyone would do that. Dave would have so dumped me if I had tried something stupid like that.

Adriana was definitely too immature...I don't even understand how her parents could support their wedding. I can't wait for about 5 years to pass so she can rewatch that episode and see how childish and silly she was.

Yeah, Jimmy and I watched her episode a few weeks ago and he went ballistic about her. He was freaking that they're enaged after 4 days and married a month later. Then after she chooses to do that, she cries the whole time. It was so funny to see Jimmy get all ****ed at her. And he's the type that talks back to the tv. Its hilarious.

We are much more cruel than you and Jimmy...we laughed at her. I know that is really mean, but what are they thinking?! It isn't like she was pregnant and they felt getting married was the right thing to do! She didn't even have time to find out she was pregnant before the wedding plans began. I think maybe her mom was just ready for her to be somebody else's responsibility.

First, if you were Adrianna's mother, wouldn't you do anything you possibly could to get her out of the house? I wouldn't want to live with that little brat a second longer than I needed to. I think she was getting married because either he was getting shipped over seas or he was leaving for another base (his family wasn't from the area). They may have had to get married so that she could go with him to live on base. Either way they are both morons...they deserve each other. He is going out to sea for 6 months and she is bed jump to the next guy who gives her a look. Then there can be another wedding debacle...my wish...that there is a tv crew to capture that one too.

Jada was the one who just got on my nerves. Adrianna was mildly entertaining in that train wreck kind of way. But, Jada was just a *****. I know she wanted a perfect wedding but give me a break. She was making all of her bridesmaids' hair color match. Her husband seemed like a nice guy. what a pity she will ruin him for a nice decent girl. Anyone who takes their wedding planning so serioulsy that they can say it wasn't fun has really messed up priorities. My wedding plans drive me nuts but I love every second of it.

The rest of the brides were just mildly irritating in that high pitch buzzing kind of way. I still have the one episode to watch. I think the Italian couple who by the way could not be more like Christopher and Adrianna from the Sopranos show promise for more train wreck possibility. They just annoyed me because they could not have portrayed more Italian stereotypes in that one unless the cast of The Godfather shows up to the rehersal dinner.

I agree about Adrianna and them getting married so fast because he was shipping out. Dave was telling me when he was in the Navy he knew guys that got married to someone they only knew for like 2 weeks....and of course there was rampant cheating while they were away at sea on both sides of each couple. I wonder if seeing all that was what took Dave so long to marry me...a little gun shy after seeing all that....anyway, I figure that marriage is doomed.

I agree with Lacey about Jada...she was just a *****.

OK I just watched the final episode that was on last night. What in the world was up with Gretchen, her mom, and that **** car. Was it that big of a deal? Change the tire yourself, it isn't rocket science. Or call the guy at the garage and offer him $50 to come up and do it. Hell, explain it is your wedding he'll probably do it for free. I have never had a rental car where it was the company's problem to take care of a flat. And to call the cops, does she have nothing better to do. To quote Sean, "I hate her. Not in the way that I hate her but she still has annoyingly fun qualities. I just want her off the tv."

I watched Wedding Altered on the style channel though - anyone see that? Where the groom plans the wedding and the bride doesn't get a say but her mom gives advice to the groom? UGH! That mother was horrible! My fiance woulda laughed in her face and told her to get a grip if my mother did that!

I have only seen 2 episodes of this show. I am not sure if I saw the episode you are talking about. I just can't believe how badly the grooms do at the planning. I mean, they plan nice weddings, but it seems to be the exact opposite of what their bride would want! Like on the one episode (it might be the one you were talking about) the groom didn't even pick out foods the bride would eat. The only thing she would eat was on a stick shoved into a pineapple-which she was allergic to!

yeah that's the one I'm talking about. I think she was just being way too picky - he tried hard to get things she would eat. I mean, he didn't have any pork or beef, he had chicken and fish - which is what she'd eat. As for the pineapple thing, yeah - she had a pretty good beef there heh. The mother though! Ugh I just wanted to slap her! I thought he did a pretty good job for the short amount of time that he had. I guess I just couldn't imagine being as finicky as that bride!

Your husband is right about that. It's very sad to see because it gives the Navy a bad rep. I am also in the Navy and people do get married for all the wrong reasons and they take marraige as a joke. 90% of military people do not respect other people's marraige let alone thier own. It's all for the money and separation pay they recieve. There are even gay people who get married to a straight person just so they can get paid and then there are arranged marraiges. That's when you get married to someone you don't even know for reasons like getting more money, so as not to get tranferred or to relocate to somewhere they'd like to live e.g Hawaii or CA. There are all other messed up reasons I can give you all but this site is not for that. That's why the Navy has the highest divorce rate compared to other services and the civilian world combined. And yeah I saw that epidsode with Adrianna... just stupid both of them, but he's the only one benefitting from it so he may not care. He'll probably leave her after he gets back, not necessarily divorcing her (that would cost him too much since he can get in trouble just for doing so). She may still live with her parents while he's having fun elsewhere. Yup her marraige is doomed! Most married military people live horrible lives. I'm surprised they even aired that episode!
I'm getting married also, it was supposed to be in May and now it's pushed back to December and it may even get pushed back further than that until I get out the Navy. I'm not confused about it, just don't want to live a life like Adrianna or like the ones I've explained. I think I have a mentality more like Dave's. Seeing stuff like that does make you think twice about getting married.

My ex husband was in the air force and my fsil's soon to be ex husband is in the army. They both cheated. This, in my mind is no reflection upon the military. The vast majority of people serving in the military are moral, upstanding people that aren't there for job security or to travel the world to see how many "ports they can slide into" they're there because it was a calling. They're there for the experience that they get with serving their country. One of my friends is in the navy and he was one of those guys in the gulf war that got one of those "dear john" videos of his wife having sex with his best friend yadda yadda. I was so sad for him - but he's better off not being with the little wench! I personally wanted to give her holy whatfor! But he's moved on and says he's married to the navy- because she's faithful to him :)
The military is a hard life. But its something that can be very rewarding. Its full of people that I hold the utmost respect for - and that will never change. A few bad apples can make any tree in the orchard appear rotten - but for the few on that tree, don't forget about the hundreds upon hundreds of others that are outstanding. You'll miss the best in the world.

I'm not saying that being in the military is bad, remember I said I'm also in the military. But most of the things I've seen with married people in here isn't pleasant. Serving your country and serving your personal life are two different things. I'm in no way speaking negatively about the military or the service, I'm talking about most of the people here. Take off the uniform and they'll just be another divorcee or marraige on the rocks. The military have a lot of positive and rewarding things, trust me I know. I was only giving you first hand as to what I've seen. I cannot speak of what I don't know, only that of which I've seen. I also said 90% of military marraiges are bad. I did not say 100%. No doubt there are good people in here, me being on of them :)
