you can call me a real dummie if you want!!
i just read in a thread that choosing a wedding theme is the most important decision to make for our big days! o.k. believe it or not we don`t have one.
we choosed our colors (white, ivory and burgundy) but it never occured to us that having a theme is a "must".
honestly, i do not even want a theme! and...my wedding is only 3 month away and i hope it is too late anyway.
do all of you are having a theme??? what themes you are having??
again, you can call me a dummie (you will do anyway)

No, I do not believe you really need a theme for your wedding. This is yours and your FH big day, and i believe you should do what you want. The whole theme thing is not for everyone. Don't call yourself a dummy, you honestly have a valid question.

You absolutely do not have to have a theme! I don't have a theme at all - I have my colors and that's it! You absolutely don't have to have a theme!

No. No theme. I am not that creative, nor do I have the time to start thinking about a theme.

You do not really need a theme. My FI and I choose one because it suited. As long as you have your colors run with them. Themes are used to enchance the wedding not make it.

We have a theme, but it wasn't intentional.
We're both of Celtic descent - I'm (mostly) Scottish, he's (mostly) Irish - and we're both really into it... and I'm Wiccan and he's... like minded... So we were planning a handfasting, which is pagan/celtic... and my dress is kinda celtic looking... and we decided we wanted to use celtic wedding music instead of traditional wedding music and the invitations are semi-celtic and... Well, then we had a celtic mini-theme so we picked a knot to put on our programs and seating cards and stuff...
We ended up using all celtic music for the ceremony and then bought the LOTR: Fellowship soundtrack for the dinner music and decided to mix in Celtic harp music and some other celtic artists and... then last night we went and decided to buy a few more celitic CDs to mix together for while we're taking pictures and the hors d'ouevres are being served... so...
We have a theme, but when I read that crap about needing a theme, I laughed and said "whatever" too. I don't think you need one, but you might just end up realizing you have one.

I am not having a theme either. just a traditional wedding. I only chose my colors chocolate and ivory. I may also either put pink or orange with it, haven't decided on that yet. The last color will be brought in with the flowers and I can't decide between pink roses and orange roses.

No, you do not have to have a theme. I have suggested different themes on here for those that wish to have one.

I don't really have a theme. I am just incorporating ideas to add to my reception space. It is a boring ballroom in a dinner club. So I am incorporating some ideas and colors to make it more elegant and unique. I don't have time to coordinate my wedding invitations to the idea of my cake serving set, to the wrapping paper on my attendant's gift. Some days I am happy to find the time to go the bathroom! :p

I don't really have a theme either, usless colors and flowers are a theme! We're going with red and of course lots of roses everywhere. But that's about it. My reception site does all the decorations and it's a ballroom with hardwood floors and chandeliers and then they decorate with roses everywhere so that's my only option really. And the ceremony is in a gazebo in a garden, but we're not having "garden themed" stuff everywhere. Oh, and no, you're not a dummie! :D

Actually, my dress is pretty normal... it's just got what I think is a bit of a Celtic flair to it because it has a double wrap. There's a picture of it here http://davidsbridal.com/bridal_gowns_detail.jsp?stid=1585&prodgroup=10
We actually look pretty normal (I'm thinking of going a little goth after the honeymoon though) because we've both worked retail (at non-punk/goth stores) and other normal people jobs that frown on it. I wear a pentacle at almost all times though and plan on pinning it to the inside of my dress that day too. I thought about putting it on my bouquet, but I'm leaving that at the cemetary (my grandmother's grave) and don't want to forget to take it off.
Most wiccan handfastings have lots of cloaks, renessaince themes, and/or hippie looking garb (think the non-tiedye dresses at art fairs)... if they're dressed up at all... or dressed at all (how wonderful it would be to have a skyclad wedding... but I think our guests would be a little uncomfortable :p ).
If you're interested, just google: wiccan wedding pagan handfasting... stuff like that and you'll probably find a bunch of pictures... If I have time and get my hands on some, I'll post them or send them to you... my friend had a handfasting a few weeks ago and I may be able to get some of her pictures too.

I would say a theme is anything you choose that unifies your decor. No, you don't have to pick a specific theme. But you probably know if you want a casual backyard BBQ or a super elegant affair or something in between. I think colors definitely count as a theme. Whatever you pick that carries through the invites, cake, decor, linens, and favors would be your 'theme'. I wanted a romantic, starry night feel. So we are using blue, white, and silver as our colors. We will decorate with white lights and we have stars in some of the decor (on the invites, etc.).

I don't know if you can call it a theme, but our wedding is at a Botanical Conservatory so kindof a Garden theme in the Fall. The conservatory will have marigolds, pumpkins, ect. We are having caramel dipped apples for our favors....is that what they would call a fall theme?

We are also having a "fall" themed wedding. but it's really just the colors and a few decorations making it that. It will be cute tho! We are also doing caramel apples! They will be good!

I am not having a theme either. I am having the same colors we had when we got married for our Renewal Ceremony. Our colors are burgundy, dusty pink (if not dusty a darker shade of pink), and ivory. The ironic thing I have noticed is the colors I chose 10 years ago has become like a trend. I seen a bouquet on a web site that matched exactly to my colors. I was like wow! Of course I have saved the picture to show my friend who is going to help me make my bouquet. lol
The theme for our wedding is "Linked at the Heart". It is a romantic theme and I can find a lot of accessories for the wedding and reception.
I think having a theme is nice since you can coordinate everything. I am actually using the "Linked at the Heart" accessories for the wedding and reception.

Do you have any advice on how to make the caramel apples as easy, simple and quick as can possibly be? I have been "collecting" bags of caramels for 6 months now and I have at the present time like 24 bags. I heard that if I freeeze the caramels in the freezer the wrappers will come off much better. Have any other advice? I'm kindof dredding the week of the wedding when we do them. We have like 100-125 to make.

I am not actually doing the caramel apples. My step mom hired a caterer to do our food and she's going to do the apples too. There is no way I would be able to make that many caramel apples. I'll let you know how shes making them if I see her soon.

I had wanted a garden theme... but when we found out we couldn't get married in a garden, the idea kinda flew out the window. My mom was pretty upset about the whole thing... saying I was changing my mind too much. So now I'm going to do everything roses (pink roses... I like pink roses). All the flowers will be roses, the cake will have roses on it, my dress will have roses on it, we'll have chocolate roses, and some kind of rose favors. :)

Ok, just when I thought I wasn't going to have a theme, I think one found me. My Mom reminded me that i bought a cake topper like 15 years ago. it was a limited edition on sale and I decided I had to have it just in case I ever got married. I had forgotten all about it. It is a Pepe Le Pew and Penelope *****cat. So, I took it over to my FMIL's house today since we were discussing the cake (she is making my cake) and we are going to use the topper. Now I am looking for other pepe le pew wedding stuff. I didn't know there was so much out there. Guess I have a theme now.

It's been a long time since I've made caramel apples, but here are my suggestions from what I remember...
Get good quality apples. I like Macs best for caramel, but they can be big and therefore use more caramel.
Be liberal with the caramel, especially since until it dries it will run a little and pool at the bottom. If you only dunk it in really quick, there will be lots of spots that don't really get covered.
Do them all in the same sitting. It's so much easier. Put them on a cookie sheet after dipping. (You may want to try putting wax paper on it to help keep them from sticking, but I'm not sure how well it will work; they may slide.)
Let them harden a little and then either put them in the freezer or a fridge. NOTE: Some types of apples get kinda grainy in texture when frozen. I don't think most of them are very common, but something to watch out for.
Wrap them a *little* loose instead of pulling the wrapper taut.
Although the "one for you one for me" method doesn't really work, make sure you have some caramels for yourself... otherwise you'll end up burning your tongue and/or being miserable.

No, you don't need a theme. Your theme is "wedding."
I dont think we'll have a theme.
Well, maybe. Our relationship has a bit of a theme. It has a "I  ___" theme because I wore a t-shirt that said "I heart nerds" which led my fiance's friend to decide to set us up. Then, our first movie was "I heart Huckabees." And we have "I heart NY" t-shirts... It could be a cute theme, especially for a wedding.
Anyway, no, you don't need a theme. Elegance is enough.

That is so cute!
And funny; I just bought an "Everybody loves a nerd." T-shirt (the candies, which I LOVE). I think Ryan should have it though... I'm such a math-geek it's not even funny.
