I am a make-up artist and I chose to use Make-Up forever eyeliner which is water-proof and smudge resistent, works very well, great quality. You can find it online, Spehora.com or a Spehora store is a good location. As far as waterproof mascara I again like Make-Up Forever, there whole line contains water-proof makeup and Lancome make good products too!! Hope this helps!!

any suggestions for a mascara that lengthens and curls? I have very thin, short, straight lashes and can't stand fake lashes.

I love plain old fashioned Maybelline mascara in the pink tube with green top. They even make a waterproof version. I spend so much money on designer makeup but I still love that one drug store product. (I love Chapstick lip balm too but this is a mascara post)

Now to get it to work really well. 1. Curl your lashes. Use one of those torture device looking things they sell in drug stores. Make sure you don't have any lotion on your hands though. And, only crimp for a second. It you over curl it will shorten the lashes even more. 2. Position the lash want at the base of your lashes. Wiggle it back and forth once or twice then pull up. This applies it thicker to the base which makes your eyes POP more plus doesn't make it too think and clumpy going up your lashes. 3. Get a good metal eyelash comb and comb through those eyelashes. 4. Reaaply the mascara with 1 more coat and comb through again.

Yeah, you got it! Thanks! I'm so going practice right now, b/c I'm eye curling challenged-honestly I always look like I have a dent then a flutter! It's horrible! I can't believe I just admitted that...lmao!

the odd torture device curlers won't curl my lashes. Its hilarious really. My hair is so curly and thick - I guess there was nothing left for my eyelashes! They're short, thin and very very straight. :(

Reecy,

Try one of the mascaras that are 2 in 1. The first is a clear booster that is supposed to thicken your lashes, and once that is dry, you apply the mascara over your 'new, fat' lashes.

Also, you can buy just the thickener and use your own mascara over it. I know I've seen both. I'll see what I can find and let you know.

I found these at www.ulta.com, by searching for 'mascara'. And with the exception (obviously) of the Ulta-brand product, I'm sure you can find them at Target or somewhere similar.

Can I tend recommend a new type of torture device. They actually make the curlers that heat up slightly to cause the lashed to hold better. You will have to do a web search. My cousin had one when she was trying for Miss West Virginia. Also, don't curl the tips of your lashes. Try to curl closer to the base. And use thin coasts of mascara so they don't get weighed down.

Yeah, I've heard of heated torture devices too. Also, if you don't want to go to the expense of buying them, what about warming your eyelashes slightly with a hairdryer (obviously from a distance or else it will be painful!). I read somewhere that warmed hair is easier to style, remove or curl. Warming the hair slightly works brilliantly for depilatory - not suggested for eyelashes though. Also could try the new dyes that you can buy for eyelashes, either do it yourself or local beautician. These do work in making lashes look longer and thicker and then you can go further by adding your own too!

I have tried this one - and it works well to thicken my lashes, and then I found one that actually curls the lashes that works well as well - so I put 2 different mascaras on just to appear to have lashes heh. and it works great - other than i can't seem to find it in waterproof
