If you would, could you please go check out the dress research post in my journal and respond? I need a few HONEST opinions on a replicated dress I am relatively interested in.

I think it is pretty close and maybe this is the way to get the dress you want for a price you can live with. Another thing you may want to try is to contact some of the online places if you really like the designer one better. I know I got a designer dress that retailed between $800-$900 for only $538 by going to Bridal Mart. while I could actually go to Bridal Mart because I am in NC, I know they also take internet orders and so far I have been extremely impressed with their service. I ordered my dress on May 30th and it arrived yesterday. they offered to ship it to me (I am in NC, but I live like 2 hours from the store) but I was ok going to get it so i can inspect it before I take delivery. So, you may want to try that or another online store to get the original. If you can't find that then it may be good for you to go ahead and use this designer to get close to what you want. Good Luck and I would love to help you in any way I can. Us brides have to stick together.!! :D

Thanks for checking it out and also for the great advice. I'll definately check into other options before I go with this one. Thanks a ton!

I think the replicated one looks just as gorgeous as the original! In my opinion, for some designers you are paying for the name rather than the quality of work. As long as the dressmakers are using quality material, I think the dress should be just as magnificient as the original designers. You might want to see if the dress makers can give you info from previous customers and see how they liked the quality. Or if they have feedback read the customer's comments. As long as the company is reputable, you should be fine.

The website does have a feedback section, however, I am sure they pick and choose the best comments to show. LOL
Thanks for your comment. I am glad that if I really want it, I can have something that looks almost like it for way less. That way, I still have the option no matter what.

Its a beautiful dress! I personally like the color of the knock-off dress better than the origional, but looking at the pictures, I really can't tell the difference.
There really is no reason to pay for a name...I found a dress I loved on the internet and then found the pattern so my aunt can make it...I'll get a $2000 dress for less than $200!

Agreed. I'm going to take whatever I decide on to my local seamstress and see what she thinks about how much it will cost to make it. Thanks for the comment.

I think that the knockoff dress looks fine. I would call and get all the details though like what kind of crystal beadings they use and what type of material. It is a good thing that you are pleased with their customer service. But, I would make sure they ahvea return or exchange policy that way you are stuck with any ugly surprises. Also, I would call and check the price of the Demetrios gown, when I tried them on some of them weren't that expensive.

The replica looks great. I know a lot of times with a designer brand you pay for the name, but with most designer items there is really a difference in quality. For example, the number one way to recognize a knock off of a designer bag is to look at the stitching and the material on the inside of the purse. The design can be easily copied, but the company making the replicas can sell them cheap for a reason. Now, I am not saying that you shouldn't get the replica (I have also considered getting a replica of a Vera Wang gown). But I would ask the company for references aside from their feedback section. Or check their return policy. Personally, I want to be able to see and touch my dress before I am obligated to pay for it, just to be safe.

well, considering that the only seamstresses I know personally are here in my town, I'm not much help. Maybe ask around where you live and see if there are any there who would do a good job.
Also, the website I posted for the replica dresses will make one for you if you send them a picture. You should check with them if you can't find anyone else.

Let me tell you from personal expirience. I looked at some of the replica Vera Wang dresses and then finally tried on an original (and then finally purchased)and I will tell you that there is definaitly a difference. The materials and the feel you get from knowing that it is authentic is worth every penny. I was going to tell you though that the differnce in color between the replica's white and the real dress' champagne is what makes the dress so unique. Don't settle for anything less, you only do this ONCE. It will be the most expensive article of clothing you wear your whole life. Oh, and I might want to add that I'm partial to the champagne color b/c that's what I chose for my dress. I think the champagne gives it a more classy touch that white can't do. A lot of the girls I have talked to on here were all really supportive when I was freaking about my "non-white wedding dress". Just my opinion, take it or leave it. Thanks!!

I think it's beautiful. And if you can tweak anything you dislike, all the better!

I think the replica is beautiful. I like the color and the lace on the original but, like you said it was altered by the bride. I would check the company out on the better business bureau first. They may not be on there, but if they are you can see if any complaints have been brought against them.

Given the choice of the 2, I really prefer the original... then again, it's well lit, on a gorgeous model, etc. I like the color much better, and it seems... I guess just better made... the replica looks a lot cheaper. Then again, if you'd only shown me the replica, I would probably say it's absolutely gorgeous.
Considering the price difference, especially if you can get it in champagne, it's definately worth the compromise. Maybe they can use a different lace overlay instead of beading; my dress has beading, but the overlay looks so much nicer.

i would say you got it!! if i wanted the dress you have (not my stile but it looks fabulus) the one you have made looks like an almost exact replica except for the embrodery on the torso (which i love!!) i think the replica looks really nice.

Thanks everyone so much. Your opinions are so helpful and have meant a lot to me while I am considering this dress. :)
I've decided that I will still consider it as a last resort (provided I don;t find another dress I like as much) after looking for the original discounted or having it made here where I can see whats happening. Its nice to have that replica as an option for sure!!! I think I most definately want it in the original goldish color. I'm thinking with a b&w wedding, I will really stand out!!!
