Criolines, hoop skirts, pettycoats.....what are you wearing? It's all so confusing to me on what the differences are between them. So, what is everyone else wearing and why did you choose the particular type over the others?

I am not doing any crinolines or anything like that. I will just have my underwear, bra and pantyhose. My dress already has some crinoline built in and I am not in need of a poofy dress.

The dress I want is a sheath. So I don't think I'll want a slip or petticoat or anything. I like the way the dress drapes over my body. Why poof it out?

I like the way the dress looks on the model. (See attachement) I don't know what to wear underneath it to make it look like that. It comes with a bit of tulle underneath, but when I tried it on with nothing extra it was too flat.

what a stunning dress!!! for your question: go to rthe bridal salon and ask for help. they are dealing with that every day.even if you ordered your dress online you can get help from a bridal salon. pick out a similar dress and ask.

Ok, my dress is rather full too. I am going with the bridal slip that the lady at the salon recommended. It will help fill out the dress but not make me look like I should be an extra on the Gone with the Wind set. I think technically it is called a petticoat but I would have to ask. And avoid the hoop skirts at all costs. I was in enough weddings in the 80's where we had to wear them. I can tell you them number of times girls sat down on the hoops the wrong way and their dresses flipped up over their heads.
Ok, here is a picture of my wedding dress and I will wear a slip the lady from David's Bridal suggested. The slip just fills out the dress a little more and lifts it up some so the length did not have to be altered.

My dress is a sheath, so no crinoline or anything. I won't even be wearing a bra because my dress cuts down pretty low in the back. And depending upon my mood on the day of the wedding, I may just go commando too! :p

hehe...that's the best 'dirty' trick to pull on your guy. When a guy finds out that you aren't wearing underwear, they forget they have a brain...lol. I'll do that to Gene on occassion...we'll go out with a group of people and we'll each be off mingling, talking to people and I'll text message him and tell him I 'forgot' to put underwear on, and you should see how fast he finds me in a crowd!

If my boss ever ***e out of his office right now, I would probably get fired for laughing so hard.
As for comando, well, in New England at the end of April, I might get just a little chilled. My dress actually comes with the crinolin built in, and where it is full enough and long enough (cathedral length) when the time comes to bustle it up, I have NO desire for anything extra underneath it. I will buy sexy undies, and where nylons for the ceremony and when I change put on stockings :) That will by MY Little secret for FH. The corset is also built in and I am going to have cups sewn in. No desire for the bra around my waist at some point during the evening :)

I will be wearing a petticoat I guess, thats what the lady said. As for the commando I know exactly what you are saying SOM Z28!! :D When I was in school I could not wear underwear with my dress to the dance because you could see the lines( and nothing is more uglier than underwear lines.) So I did not wear any! He stayed right by me the whole night. And still to this day I have to keep that dress because that was the "commando" dress. He loved it!! :D

Yeah, I had fun one night. We were going out to our usual Sat night hangout with our car-freak friends. So we're at this sports bar and I'm one of 3 girls there (not many car chicks *shrug*) in a group of probably 50 packed into this little bitty back room, and I'm sitting at a bar-top table perched on this barstool in a cute pair of hiphugger jeans and a crocheted tank top surrounded by a bunch of the guys we know just having a conversation, and he's playing pool all the way across the room. While I'm chatting, I whip out my phone and send him 'the' text message. Two seconds later, he's standing right behind me and I can practically feel the drool on my back. It was just so **** hilarious because it was so unexpected, especially in the middle of all of that testosterone and beer and car talk. I learned that night how easy it was to make him do my bidding. ;)

Mines sheath and plunges very low in the back too so I dont need anything to poof it out. There are bras that are backless or just stick on to you, I'm going that root because my dress is pure silk and very revealing so I dont want to have to worry about the cold ;)

You guys are a freaking riot.
As for the original question, I have no clue what the differences are, so I have no idea what it's called... and I don't feel like being curious about it right now. It's just the standard puffy crap that has to be there to make the dress look right... a regular David's Bridal slip thingy. (I so wish I could've found a sheath that fit.)
