Ok, I guess it is time for me to break down and start one of these lovely journals.
Well, Dave and I have been seeing each other for 9 years now, so as my brother says, the wedding is almost just a formality. My brother actually calls Dave his "brother in common law" haha.

Anyway, Dave and I met about 9 years ago. We actually met through one of those stupid dating services. I had been out of college for a couple of years at the time and really couldn't meet anyone decent out and about. With most of my friends married, they didn't really know anyone to introduce me to, so I figured what the heck, I'll try the whole dating service thing and see what happens right?
Well, I guess it worked, because I found someone who is so perfect for me. :D
The only problem was that he was a commitment phobe, hence why it took 9 years for us to finally get engaged.

Anyway, you might ask how did I finally get this commitment phobe to propose? Well, I happened to be out and about in my car and was driving past the mall. I see these guys out by the mall holding up signs that Friedman's Jewelers was going out of business and everything in the store was up to 70% off. Well, I went home and said to Dave that I should go check it out and see if it is too good to be true. (we had been talking about getting married on and off for about a year or so, just didn't want to go into debt over a ring or anything)
So, I go over the Friedman's and low and behold, it is true, most of the jewelry is 70% off. So, I found a couple of rings I liked and had the girl there write down the numbers and what case they were in. I bring it home and lay it by the computer where Dave is at and let him know I found rings that I like. A couple of days later I notice that the paper is gone....good sign!! :D

That Friday we go out to dinner...(this just happens to be the Friday with the whole runaway bride story..haha) and we are talking and he tells me there are a few things we should talk about. So, he says there is one thing he thinks I won't be happy about and another that I will....so I say, ok, give me that not happy first. He tells me he purchased something for his truck that he 4 wheels that we had previously talked about waiting on. However, when we had talked about waiting he had not determined that there were repairs that this could help without being too much more expensive. So, I am ok with that...not mad or anything...then he says the good thing is he went to the jewelry store, however he couldn't find the rings I had written the style numbers down and the girl told him the jewelry would get marked down even more on Saturday.

Skip to Sunday, I oversleep and miss church and we are supposed to go out to his parents in the country to help them with something. So, I say before we go out there we should go to the mall, eat lunch and check out the jewelry store, so I could show him the ones I like. So, we do this and I find the ring I like and he agrees it is really cool. Then he haggles on the price some (which is great since we are trying to stay debt free) and looks at the girl and says "we'll take it" and of course, I am like "WE WILL???" and he just smiles at me and says yes, if you want it. Of course I do. So, that is kind of my engagement story.
I'll post more later, but I must go to bed now and get my beauty rest. He is taking me 4 wheelin tomorrow in his Bronco, should be fun...we will see as I can sometimes be a bit of a princess and not sure how muddy it will be....we shall see..... :eek:

Ok, I see why you're concerned. The tiara is beautiful and it matches the dress very well, but I'm still trying to decide if it takes away from the dress.

I love your dress and I'd hate for the tiara to overpower it. Have you looked at other tiaras? Maybe you could find one that is more antiqued gold. I definately think it should be gold colored for your dress, but maybe more crystals to tone down the gold color.

I like the tiara. But if you are worried about it poke around to find something smaller. Remember the old saying...less is more. When in doubt follow that. Check out ebay, other local bridal shops, and a friend got her tiara at www.tiaratown.com so that might be worth a look. I agree with Sarah, unless your face is frozen because of some horrible botox incident :p let's see a smile. A happy bride is a beautiful bride.

PS If your face is frozen by some horrible botox incident, I am very sorry. As I understand it, eventually the effects will wear off :D

Thats what I figured... no big loss if you get a cheap one. Look them up, there are a ton of them. I searched gold tiara. If not, i think that tiara you tried would still look nice anyway, even if it is REALLY gold. lol

I ***LOVE*** Ebay. I Ebay almost everything I like before I buy it elsewhere... lol. My engagement ring and wedding band are even from Ebay!!!

Dave and I were looking for his wedding band on ebay today....he wants a plain titanium...found one for $30 that he likes....so will probably get one like that for him. I love ebay too. I hadnt thought about looking for a tiara there...but glad you made me look...

Another place to check is at Claire's in your local mall. They usually have tiaras there that aren't expensive. And you can see them close up. Swarvorski (I don't know if that is spelled right and I am too tired to check) carries some gorgeous tiaras that grab the light very well too.

So, I guess I am going to have a pepe le pew theme. I even found bubbles and invitations on ebay. Hmmmmmm...if anyone else sees any pepe le pew wedding stuff let me know.

I just booked my date with a photographer and I'm so excited. Her rate is low, there is no hour or site limit, and I keep the negatives! I'm so happy that she still had my date available. I loved her albums. She does a lot of candid and photojournalistic style photography. So if you haven't found one yet, look at her website.

Ok, so I thought I had the church all taken care of. I had called 8 weeks ago (right after we got engaged) to check on my date. I specifically asked the church secretary (since the rules said that holiday weddings were not allowed) if the Saturday after thanksgiving counted as a holiday and was told no and that she would schedule my date as tentative. (we were waiting on the new pastors to get there and give final approval) Last week, the associate pastor said we were a go for my date and just to schedule the counseling sessions. Ok, so now I finally start to plan other stuff in ernest. Now, today, I get an email from the associate pastor saying the church has rules against holiday weddings and that if I want to get married in my church I have to pick another day!! WTF??? I specifically asked about this and specifically waited to start booking other stuff till I got the all clear from them......

I called the pastor and she is going to try and get an exception for me, but still I am not happy at all. I give time, energy and money to my church all the time and the one time I need them for something they dont want to be any help at all...sorry about this but I just needed to vent and rant for a moment!! :mad:

Looks like my church is now trying to work with me. Got an email this morning and they are trying to find people at the church willing to step up and help me keep my wedding date. They are asking one of the church wedding coordinators to help and trying to find me a custodian and organist for the weekend. Everyone keep your fingers crossed for me!!! I really want to get married in my church.

We finally got our bridesmaid dresses ordered. I went with the Alfred Angelo Separates. I picked the skirt (MSKT-G- which is the fuller A line) and I let each of my girls pick the top they wanted. I thnk it is going to look really neat. They are in the Espresso Color if anyone wants to take a peak on the alfred angelo website. My jr. bridesmaid is also going to be in the separates, but she will be wearing the short skirt because the long one just made her look too old. I am very, very excited. Now I can hardly wait till they come in. :D

They had a tentative booking on my date and after 3 phone calls (including the last one where the phone was disconnected) they cancelled the booking for the other party (who had not made their deposit yet) and have given me the date. YEAH!! I am going over Wednesday after work to put down the deposit and the manager is going to reserve the space for me today so that I don't risk losing it!! YEAH!!!! I am so excited. I will take pics when I go over on Wed and post them when I get back!!

ok, I have been slack about updating my journal. I have had so much going on at work I haven't had time to keep up.

I just bought my invitations...woohoo!!! I bought blank invitations and my next door neighbor is going to do the printing on them for me. I will have to post a picture as soon as they are ready. They are really cool. They have a z fold and the front has two gold hearts intertwined and when you unfold it, the invitation part will be in the middle section and the last section has 2 gold hearts intertwined and I will put the reception invite on that part. really cool

I went shopping with my sister in law last night for my veil pattern. My sister in law is making my veil for me. here isa picture of my veil pattern. I am going to be using the one in the biggest picture except mine will be Ivory tulle with champagne/mocha ribbon edging.

so, looks like we are going to be able to get the ringbearer outfits I wanted. My SIL had strasburg children call around to a bunch of stores until we found a store that still had the outfit in ivory in the 2 sizes we needed for my nephews. so, it looks like they will be bought/ordered tomorrow and then the store will ship them on Monday...yeah!!! Don't worry about your FH, mine is completely not interested in the wedding plans, he just says to tell him what to wear and when to be there. So, this is really, really cool. My FH's Stepdad, John, has a brother in Mass. that has restored old genuine English taxi cabs. Well, when they got the invitation to our wedding they called John and asked if we would be interested in having them do my and Dave's transportation on our wedding day. Which, of course, we said yes. it is sooooo cool

Well, procastination paid off. We were going to do a cruise. But by waiting we were able to know that the hurricanes have done sooooo much damage that Cozumel, Cancun etc are not accepting cruise passengers indefinately until they rebuild some. So the cruise ships are being re-routed to different destinations...and since we only were doing the cruise because we wanted to go to Cozumel and Costa Maya that would have been a real bummer if it had changed on us.

So, we decided to go to Las Vegas instead. We have been before and we both wanted to go back. I am sooooooooooo excited since it is one of my very, very favorite places and we got an awesome deal...less then $500 per person for the whole week including airfare, so not bad at all and we are staying at the Rio which is my favorite hotel there because they are all suites. :D

so, I about had a major heart attack today. My bridesmaid dresses are still not here (we ordered them in July and they were supposed to be here first of October) and since I only have 22 more days I am feeling pretty freaked about it. I called the store where we got them from and they tell me they will need to try and call Alfred Angelo again because they haven't been able to get in touch with them since Hurricane Wilma (they are in Delray Beach Florida) and they will have to call me back....so I am FREAKING at this point....I mean what am I going to do if my dresses don't get here....anyway about an hour later they call me back and let me know they shipped out yesterday. I am a lot calmer now, but I mean what the heck....where have they been all along...why are they not here already. If they had shipped them when they were supposed to the Hurricane would not have been a problem. Now my girls will only have about 15-20 days to get alterations and find shoes....ugggggh! :eek:

Relax girl! At least they are on their way now and nothing has happened to them. My mother bought a few things and she's still waiting for her stuff to arrive. The hurricane hurt not only the families down there but the shipping industry. Plus the gas prices going up caused alot of problems. We actually had a strike here and truckers were parked in parking lots honking their horns in protest. I can't say I understand how you feel because I don't/ My wedding isn't until next October and well I haven't ordered the dresses yet. So I guess when I do I will know exactly how you feel. Please relax and know they are on their way now and at least they didn't arrive 2 days before the wedding. At least you can feel better about that!

well this is going to be a very busy weekend. I have my hair trial today at 1pm. I have to finalize the florist, music for reception and ceremony and order my trinkets for the favors. Looks like final count for wedding will probably come in somewhere between 100-120, which is exactly what I had kind of planned on.

On another note, I thought I had broken my wrist this week. For right now, they do not think it is broken, however apparently this particular bone is incredibly hard to tell if it is broken in adults and sometimes the break will not show up for 2-3 weeks on an xray. for right now they believe it is a tendon and I have it braced and if it isn't better in 2 weeks I have to go back. they did promise me if we had to cast it for any reason they would make the cast in Ivory to match my dress and they would make it small enough to fit through the arm holes on my dress. Keeping my fingers crossed it is just the tendon and all will be well if I rest it, ice it and keep up the anti inflammatory meds.

I know its getting close so had to pop on to see any and all updates for ya. Your hair is kinda how i want mine but I want mine down with the curls in it. Since my hair is always up I figure having it down will be different. Hope everything is coming together without anymore heart attacks. By the way any word on the bm's dresses?? Got pics of them? Just remember as the time ticks down and the stress level goes up to take time for yourself. Dont overdo yourself, if you overdo yourself you wont be any good for anything. My BM dresses finally arrived today so now I am mobilizing all my girls so they can pick them up, have alterations and get shoes in the next 16 days. Boy was that an ordeal. I finally called Alfred Angelo myself on Monday and the girl there was soooooooo nice. Turns out the place we bought them from dropped the ball in several places.....I will rant about them as soon as the dresses are picked up and paid for. I then will let all you brides know who NOT to use for BM dresses.

I'm sorry to hear that Patty! It seems like these bridal shops tend to treat their customers like dog turds after they get their money! Exactley why I'm not giving bad bridal shops my business! I refuse to pay more money to be treated rudely when I can pay less and not have to go through the bridal shop BS!!! When I first started trying on dresses EVERY single shop I went to was rude BEFORE they even made the sell! Yeah, like they'll get my business like that! You can always file a claim at their headquarters or BBB. I like to get compensated when I get treated like crap! LOL!

Well, this particular shop is locally owned and the guy that owns it is a complete bas tard. I think that is what the problem is. I will post their name and let everyone here know once we have all the dresses picked up and paid for. I did talk with Alfred Angelo and they told me to write a letter to them indicating what happened as they don't like to sell their dresses through vendors like this. We only went to this location because they were the least expensive for these dresses...guess you get what you pay for eh? I should have had my girls pay extra and ordered them through the same place I got my dress because they were wonderful through the whole thing. I will post a BM dress pic when I get home from work tonight.

thanks!! Yeah, I am getting pretty excited at this point. Today is kind of the last day to run errands and finalize stuff. I am flying out tomorrow on business to Kansas for 2 days, then back at work for 3 days and then eveyone starts getting here next weekend from my family.

I am now down to less then 2 weeks. I just ordered my wedding favors off ebay and they should be here sometime this week. I still need to find stockings to wear with my garter belt. I am having a time of it....I can find plus size ones but most are either one size plus or are only 1x or 2x....that would be fine if I wasn't so tall too. most will fit my weight if I was shorter or my height if I weighed less....this is becoming quite the dilema. I found some at Wal Mart but they don't have any white or ivory...so I got some beige ones to see how those fit/work...they are 3x so they may still be too small.

well, i am off to kansas for 2 days for work, so I will talk to everyone again on Tuesday!

The everyone picking their own top worked out really well for me. Of my 5 BM and one Jr. BM all were so different in size and shape that we were never going to find something that worked well for everyone. This way everyone got what suited them best and most of them will be able to wear at least the tops again for cocktail party type stuff.

Our Tuxes ***e in early because of the holiday week and they guys get to go pick those up today!! YEAH!!

We went and got our marriage license yesterday! I now have a very funny story to tell in regards to getting our marriage license. Dave and I are walking downtown to get to the correct city/county government building and this lady comes up to us and asked us if we were going to the courthouse (which is across the street) We said, "no, we are going to get our marriage license" and she says' "me and my fiance ***e down to get married at the courthouse and didn't know we needed witnesses. I will pay you each $20 to come witness our wedding". To which I said, "You don't have to pay us, we would be happy to do it for you" She made us take the $40 (which paid for most of our marriage license which was $50) So, we got to witness someone's wedding while we were going to get our marriage license. It was kinda neat and I was so glad to help her she looked so desparate!

Not really nervous, more overwhelmed with everything that still needs to get done this week. I actually have a list going with everything I still need to do and I keep remembering things I need to put on there. Our best man arrived in town last night and we did take a break and went to dinner/bar and watched Monday Night football and then ***e home and played poker till 2am. It was a nice break from all the hustle and bustle. My sister called this morning from her hotel and my neice who is 7 months old apparently has an ear infection and was up all night crying. they are trying to find an Urgent Care center here that will take their insurance to get her some relief. I am hoping that gets better before this weekend so I won't have an upset crying baby there.

I think they are taking her to Urgent Care tonight...she has been fussy all day and is running a temp. She is not normally a fussy baby, so I think that maybe they need to get her some antibiotics (especially if it is an ear infection)

We went to pick up the Tuxes tonight...they are AWESOME!!!! I am so happy with out choice!!! Yeah!!!!!! :D

Only 2 more days. Went and got a bunch of the decorations for the church yesterday. It is kind of cool that all the christmas stuff is out now...I was able to get some pretty gold bows for the church pews from the christmas section for $3.99 each, so that was pretty good.

thanks so much!! There are a lot of great dresses out there for plus size brides so don't be discouraged. I really loved mine and the designer who made it has a whole line designed specifically for plus size brides....not sure who sells them up there, but the designed is Aurora D'Paradiso. :D
