I went to a wedding on December 18th last year, and that is 1 week exactly before Christmas! I don't think anyone there minded at all and they had a huge HUGE wedding. (Over 500 guests). Lucky for them, they had big families in town, but most people they invited from more than an hour or 2 out of town, did not come.

I'm also having a Christmas wedding, December 17th, and yes a concern of our is people coming or not because of the holidays. but the thing we keep telling ourselves is that even if they can't be there in person they are still there in spirit and their love is still with you on your special day. Plus it's less money you have to spend if less guests attend :p

Hey

I ***e up witha great idea. I changed my date again to December 23rd, it will put it on a SAturday. I know that some people wont be able to come so, we are going to have a big BBQ/PotLuck second reception in the summer for everyone, all our friends and all our family, to attend, watch the video and look at the pictures.

What do you guys think of that? I thought it was pretty cool. Oh, and I was told that I cant change the date again, LOL

HOpe yo hear from you guys on this

I have attended a "Christmas Wedding" and it was beautiful! The couple saved so much money on decorations because the church was already decorated for the holiday and it was gorgeous. They took a lot of pictures in the church, but did get a few getting into the limo with a BEAUTIFUL snowfall too! It will work out! PLUS I think more family would be inclined to come to your wedding, they just might not travel again for a Christmas gathering, so you'll just have to be aware that some mini-Christmases might be going on before/after the wedding on that weekend.
I think the party in the summer is a good idea, but remember you might be sick of planning by then! I think you're just doubling the amount of time/energy spent on planning and usually a bride is fried after just the regular amount. Do you think you're going to want to spend the first 6 months of your marriage planning again???
GOOD LUCK! ;)

Very good point, I think I will make sure everything is planned and set well before even for the summer thing. Because you are right once the wedding happens i will be done for sure.

Oh a happy note I FOUND MY DRESS and put a down payment on it. It was also on sale, 300$ bucks baby, Im the bargin queen. !!!

anyways, thank you all for your help.

We're doing a wedding near Christmas as well. As long as everyone has plenty of notice (and I think a 2006 wedding definitely gives them that), then there shouldn't be too much of a problem.

i think you should keep it all in one day it just gets to complicated the other way but it is totally up to you and your fiance whatever is better for you ..... :) :)

why not have a winter theme in the summer? this way one date and you are only planning one day and not going nuts over planning two dates? my FH would probably end up divorcing me if i did that.
