 I am just LOST. I really don't know HOW to begin....do you pick colors, flowers, as a theme? I mean I haven't found any information regarding "hot" colors for weddings ( I know- pick a color you like, but really I think of every possibility- how are the bridesmaids going to look in the color, the color of the carpet of the Church).

And I love pretty much all flowers, but really how do you begin to decide on the tone of the wedding? I haven't really been planning this in my head all my life, so I don't have any MUST haves. GEESH! I pick up magazines, but I just don't know. PLease anyone who could lend me an ear or an idea I would appreciate it. THANKS!

Its really hard to describe how things just start to fall together. Most of the stuff I'm doing is really centered around my dress - its white and navy blue. The bridesmaids will wear navy blue dresses with white accent, the flowers are my favorite - yellow roses - so that kinda gets my color scheme out of the way :) then I just matched the tux accessories to the bridesmaids and the decorations as well to the color scheme. You don't have to have a full-out theme or anything - and if you can't decide on certain colors - then you have the option to have many colors and use a rainbow scheme. :)

yea, i know it gets confusing at first but really everything falls into place. my dress is all white, kinda poofs out like all princess like, you know, like a light tulle material, anyways, and im doing like a pink color, still havent decided on which pink. theres just sooooo many colors to choose. it also depends on your likes and fav' color. it also depends when your having your wedding? when is it again? well, you could get a good deal like at a wholesale florist, at the right season for flowers. just ask tell them which month your getting married and depending where you live, ya just gotta look around, thats if you have enough time. im planning way,way ahead, our date was june 3.06 but now since we're saving for a house we moved it to sept 9.06 , ya see how the seasons change re: for the flowers, well im just real bad at timing, and being on time for things so i thought id be on time at least for my own wedding huh? so, back to the colors, and themes. im also putting tulle, two colors either white or ivory with my many choices of pink to pick from wrapped around like a criss cross wrap on some pillars in my ballroom. i might stick some white lights "probably but them from the dollar tree" in and around with the tulle. just some little deco' ideas. flowers, im having gardinias, and roses, baby breathe, and a little mix of other pink and rosey color flowers. centerpieces, i got these cute margarita glasses from one of the girls in a different forum, 40 for $40, im putting some water with a couple of little clear stones at the bottom topped off with tealight candles, and you could incorporate your colors in your centerpieces too. ohh ohh, and the girls, well it depends on what you like, after all, it's your wedding, they have to listen to you!!! lol :D , i still havent decided on what colors my girls are wearing, im thinking of black but then throw some color into it, like the pink or just have to pick which pink i want and do that... wheeewww im writing too much let me know what ya think... yasmine

I don't really have a theme, I just know what I want. My favorite flower is hydrangeas, so naturally, I want that as my main wedding flower. I decided that I would take the colors from the flowers and match my bridesmaids dresses to that. I plan on using green, lavender, and blue hydrangeas. However, I am planning a fall wedding and I personally do not want my girls in springy colors like that in fall (although weddings are exceptions to normal fashion rules like that). So I decided to have taupe dresses with those colors as accents. The only other thing I know I want is an evening wedding with lots of candelight. So, I will have lots of hydrangeas and candles at my wedding and reception. Thats about as far as I am going when it comes to a "theme". My suggestion is just decide what you want regarding flowers and the season for your wedding and then follow that idea with your colors. You don't have to have a specific theme... I don't. I just plan on using a basic color scheme and then just getting ideas for decor and modifying it to match. It makes things easier because I don't have to hunt for the perfect butterfly cake, or heart shaped centerpiece. I can just decorate everything I want with the flowers and colors. I can use different types of ideas insired from magazines and such and just change the colors to make them work at my wedding. I plan to have a very simple cake with white fondant icing, but I can modify that with ribbons to match my colors, and if I want, I can top the cake with fresh hydrangeas. Very simple and easy. Not everything has to "match"... it just has to "go". Does that make sense???

Exactly, how I guess you did start to match things up. Get one thing going and it just rolls from there. I'm hopefully getting married June/July of 06. Which sounds so sad that I haven't set a date yet.

I'm in DC and my family and wedding will be in Nebraska-yeah- and I'm also in the Army and possibly deploying........totally a dilemma......I honestly believe when I set a date I'll hear some bad news!

I have a small town= small Church- therefore I'm sure the Church will be free pretty much all summer, honestly the town's like 300 people....so I'm more concerned with WHERE I'll have it....and finding a place that will allow us to MOVE our date or at least let us leave the money there for when I get back or for when we can arrange a proper wedding...you know what I am saying?

So I am freaking out b/c I can't get back home as often as I would like. My mom is a saint and helping me research places that are nice. And I don't know if you've found this- that places are either MAX 200 people are 300-400 people- which is HUGE- and too big if you want like 220...whatever....I just need to BREATHE!!!

So I know finding the dress is the all-powerful moment of wedding planning, but I am so sad that I'll have to do it alone without my mom. I mean I can shop when I go home, but it's like when I go home I need to be looking at photographers and venues. I don't know many people out here and it's just sad to go by yourself, you know? I mean it's not for like a year, but now it's time to start making some decisions.....

Sorry I'm throwing a pity party for myself and everyone's invited! HAHAHAHA! But it's stressful enough as it is aside from me being HERE rather than WHERE it's going to BE.....
Thanks for the info, it's so logical how everyone ***e to a conclusion of how things "GO" together....

I myself was not going to have a theme, but then the pinepple theme sort of fell on my lap and i'm happy it did. But you certainly do not "need" a theme. Just go with what you love and your wedding will be beautiful. :)

Don't worry about the pity party... everyone has those moments. I can't imagine not having my mom around to help me plan my wedding and do all the fun stuff that moms and brides are supposed to do.

Let me tell you this one thing:
The ladies on this forum are so resourceful. Just ask and they will come up with a million great ideas to help you plan your wedding. All you need is to get 1 or 2 ideas for colors or flowers and post them here and then let us all give you some input. Trust me, finding this forum was an amazing discovery for me and my wedding planning. Take advantage of all the opportunities this forum gives you. Look through others' wedding journals for pictures and ideas. Start one of your own and we will flood it with ideas. Just hang in there and pick a few things you think you might want and we'll try to help it roll along.

Good luck. :)

What I did was look online for dresses to "streamline" the dress shopping - I found the style of dress I liked, and then noted the designer and style number and then checked out those dresses - it took about 1/10th of the time it normally would have. Navy blue is my favorite color, yellow is my fiance's. My favorite flower is yellow roses, so it just kinda steamrolled from there - especially when I found out that the dress I wanted does now come in navy. I originally was going to have maroon and white for the wedding - I liked the dress I picked out and at that time, it only ***e in maroon - and I do love that color - and it looks good with my hair and skin tone - but then when I saw it in navy, that just really threw it all together :)

Everything just fell in place for me. I was out and saw a wedding cake with sea shells all over it and I knew that was the theme I wanted. Our wedding is on a yacht, so a beach theme works. I don't think you really need a theme though, I was not going to have one until I saw that cake. Just go with what you like and I am sure it will al come together beautifully.

Well, my wedding planning started with picking a date so we knew what season our wedding would be in. Once we got the date I started looking for dresses, looking for places to have the wedding and reception, and thinking about colors. The one thing my fiancee wanted was to have navy as one of the colors. So that narrowed down my choices as to what other colors would go with navy. We finally ended up with navy, silver, ivory, and mauve. As time went on I started finding different types of decorations I would want to use at the wedding. I noticed looking at the different magazines and online we both really liked the double hearts look. So we have decided to go with hearts as our theme. If you take a look at our wedding journal, Nancy and Thomas, you can see a lot of the different items I have decided on for the wedding. I also have a few links to the different dresses my bridesmaids, jr. bridesmaids, and myself will wear at the wedding and reception.

I didn't really think you had to have a "theme" for your actual wedding, I think the reception would be the most appropriate time for a theme.

My colors are black and white - which stem from my all-time favorite colors. I still have yet to decide on flowers, though..I'm not really a flower person so trying to figure out what kind I want to use is tough.

I still haven't exactly picked my dress either, I've narrowed it down to a few choices, though.

Just relax. It will just flow. Getting too worried about it will just make you stress more.
