I am getting married on Labor day next year. Does anyone have any ideas about a Theme?

Do you or your future husband have any big interests that people know about? Or is there something that makes your relationship unique? I think something that really reflects you would be better than a traditional theme. My future husband and I have been dating for 5 years (6 by the time we get married), are really into family and both really into photos. So we are using that as a theme for our reception by having displays for each year we've been together with special photos, centerpieces that incorporate pictures of us during special events in our lives, a photo family tree, etc.

Hey!
Labor day is an distinctly American holiday, so don't be afraid to go all out with the red white and blue. Also, it's the end of summer. YOu could definitely pull of bright colors or maybe even pastels.

Labor Day is the unofficial start of Fall, so you could do an autumn theme. The palette can be bright or muted, multi-color or two-tone... whatever makes you smile. Autumn is also butterfly season, so you could include a butterfly release. We're doing that. I love how they represent change and new life.

Actually, seasonal themes are great, but I like it best when it reflects the couple's personalities, or expresses something special about them. Our theme is "treasure," because we cherish each other, and believe love is something to be protected and valued, like a precious jewel. I picked colors and decor items to express that.

Most everything will be antique gold and light amethyst, accented with other jewel tones. Our favors are little brass pails ("pots of gold") filled with candies called Nuggets and Treasures. I found little votive candles shaped like faceted jewels. I'm even carrying a crystal bouquet instead of flowers (custom-made by an awesome lady at www.headpieceheaven.com/CrystalBouquets.html).

Hope that helps! Best wishes...
