OK...wasn't sure what thread to post this in...

How many days pre-wedding is everyone taking off from work to allow for the last minute details?

As of now, I am only planning on taking the day before. Hopefully, everything will be moving along well enough by then that I won't need to take anymore time than that off. However, at most, I will take a half day on Thursday and all of Friday. I refuse to punish my students' education because the schedule got messed up. If things aren't done by that time, they don't need to be worried about.

Yeah...as a teacher you have a bit more resonsibility than I do. I work in hospitality...the future of our country doesn't exactly lie in my hands.

I am not working right now since I am a full time college student. I do not plan on taking any time away from my classes for pre-wedding set up. Most of the things will be set up on Friday night and Saturday before the wedding. I believe I can set up the ceremony and reception sites on Friday after the rehearsal and dinner. I am going to have the wedding party and parents help set up. It should go pretty fast since I will have everything all planned out and know where exactly everything will go.

I was off the Wednesday before my Saturday wedding. It just depends on how much you still have left to do and how many people will coming in from out of town and when they will get there. If you can have all major things finished and all times confirmed with vendors and so forth, you shoudn't need that much. If OOT guests are coming in, I would suggest getting the days off to visit with them for a while before the wedding.

I am full time college student also, but I work full time too. So, yeah, I wouldn't worry about my classes too much, but classes and work is a bit much for the last few days before the wedding.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Plus when I pick out my classes for that semester I will make sure I can schedule classes on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. By the end of this semester all of my Friday and Saturday classes will be completed since those are the Special Education classes. I might however have a Thursday night class which is ok since the wedding is not till 3:00 PM on a Saturday.

I will be taking off two days before the wedding. Our wedding is on a Saturday and the Bachlorette party is Thursday and the rehearsal is Friday. So it all works out perfect.

Thanks everyone for you responses. The reason I was asking is I am thinking about changing jobs and I want to let any possible future employers know in the interview that I will need some time off for the wedding and honeymoon. If they don't want to hire me for it, that is ok. I like where I am at now and I have planty of vacation time through them.

I just got a new job and had to make the same decision. They are very flexible with my decision to take off 1 1/2 weeks

LOL...oh just to a different company. The place I work, I would be going to a funeral before I get a promoation. Everyone there has been there for ages! I mean, literally, the "newest" manager (if you don't include myself who sort of 'created' my position) has been in that position for more than 10 years. And all but one other manager has been there for 20 years! Nothing like a big, fat dead end road. And it sucks because they are like family!
