For the longest time, my FH and I have disagreed on the size of the wedding party. All he wanted was the simple, small gathering (which can't happen with my side of the family) and only have he and his son (who will be 8)standing together at the front as his best man. On the other hand, our wedding party was extremely uneven because I have my cousin who will be MOH 1, and my best friend who will be MOH 2. As well as my oldest daughter as Jr. Bridesmaid (who will be 10) and our youngest as Flowergirl (who will be 3). How uneven is that!
Anyway, I heard the best news two days ago. His best friend (who now lives in Alterta, Canada and 4 provinces away from us in Ontario, Canada) flew in town to visit his family. My FH went to spend time with him and he had the intention of asking him to be his Best Man for our wedding! I was so happy, I was giddy all day knowing that finally one of my girls will be walking down the aisle with an adult! :D
Anyway, I hadn't heard from him at all the rest of that day since he turned his cellphone off (for the first time ever!)

My FH and I have been unofficially engaged for quite some time and we've been planning our wedding for 6 months even though he hadn't bought me an engagement ring. (who needs one to know their getting married anyway?)
A couple of days ago, my FH called me up and told me that he'd be shopping for my engagement ring soon, but that he needed to have my ring size and that he wanted me to look through catalogs and stores for the styles that appealed to me.
I looked online for rings I liked, and I even went to our local jewelry shops yesterday to place a few rings on a wish list to make it easier for him to pick one out.
I had an extremely busy day yesterday since my MOH was in town and my daughter (who's 8) had dance rehearsals scheduled and because of that, I didn't get a hold of my FH to let him know where I registered or even which styles I found online.
My FH ***e over last night with his mother for a visit (which I didn't think anything of at the time) and shortly thereafter, my mother showed up because she was dropping off my daughter from rehearsal.
With my daughter having a long weekend ahead because of her dance recital, I needed to find a babysitter for my youngest who's only 14 months. I had volunteered to help out with my daughter's class and to get them ready for their big number on Friday night and I had thought that my FH's mother would be able to babysit since we're going to watch my daughter's performance the next day. Turns out, she's busy with Graduation at our local college (she works in Student Services) and will not be around on time for us to leave so I stuggled to find a babysitter, called tons for friends and relatives. I finally got a hold of someone and it was settled.
Then my FH asked to speak with me upstairs in private (I thought he was upset about something I had done and was confused). He sat me down on my bed (where my laptop was) and I placed my hand on it to change the subject of whatever he was going to discuss with me, I was going to show him the rings I found online.
When I looked back at him, I noticed he got down on one knee and held out a ring box. -- While this is happening, my mom was on her way out but my future MIL stopped her and told her to eavesdrop on our conversation.
He opened the ring box and there was the most beautiful ring and the perfect size for my ringless hands (not too big but very noticeable). This is what I said.

" Oh, Roger, this is so pretty! Can I take it?" He looked puzzled a bit... then I took it out of the ring box and put it on the wrong finger... (I was nerveous ok!!) Then I noticed my mistake and put it on the wedding finger. "Thank you!" I said.
My FH looked at me with confusion... I completely didn't realize that I still hadn't said yes to his proposal and he was waiting for my response!
"Yes! Yes! Yes! I'll marry you!" I blurted out finally.
Now this whole time, I didn't even remember kissing him when I got the ring and I went downstairs to show my mom and MIL the ring!
That's when I realized that... Uh Oh... Did I at least give him a kiss? I didn't know! I felt horrible!!!.
My FH didn't follow me downstairs, instead, he stayed upstairs and asked my daughter for my hand in marriage and she eagerly said yes!
That's when everyone ***e downstairs and I asked my FH if I had kissed him. He said "Yes you did! Twice!" (As if I couldn't even remember kissing him, I still don't remember doing so!)
Anyway, that's pretty much my official engagement story. It was simple yet memorable for all of us.

After I got my ring, and my mother gave me her official congrats, she left for home and my MIL stayed over a little longer to discuss whatever plans we had on the go.
I asked my FH if he finally got to ask his best friend to be BM and he jokingly said "NO" He just said that because he knew how much I wanted him to be a part of the wedding party..
My FH said that his friend agreed to be in the wedding party and I felt like jumping out of my seat and cheer! That's when I decided to work in my magic.
I told him that this new development was perfect because now our wedding party would be even! (Because his mom was there, I knew she'd agree with what I'd say and make him give in to what I wanted to have for a wedding party) I know it's wrong, but I so wanted to have a wedding party that looked like it was even that I was willing to do anything.
Then I mentioned... Now we have Jerry(his best friend), walking with Brigitte (my cousin). Gilles (My Brother), walking with Chantale (my Best friend), Shane, walking with his wife (FH's Sister), His Son walking with MY Daugher, and OUR daughter walking alone.
Then I said it was perfect because the wedding party is even! (He said it wasn't because our daughter would walk alone) but I responded that it was even because we would have 3 women, 3 men, and 3 children! His mother laughed and said I had a point!
Now, Roger's sister and my brother were not originally supposed to be in the wedding party, but I worked them in and he actually said that he would contact his sister (who lives 10 hours away) and ask her if she wanted to be a part of the wedding!
I was ecstatic! I was only bringing up their names for the hell of it and he actually agreed to extend our wedding party! THIS IS THE BEST DAY EVER!!!! I love Roger so much, I don't know what I'd do without him! :D

A few weeks ago, I've gotten my MOH 2 to check out a bridesmaids dresses book I've brought home from my local bridal salon so that she can pick out which dresses she likes in the book. Of course, I picked out about 8 of them that I liked to have my girls wear and within that, she picked out my favorite.
Now, my MOH 1 was in town for two days this week and I got her to do the same and to my amazement, she picked the exact same one that both me and my MOH 2 liked! That is so great, because that is the dress that my daughter will be wearing as well since they have them in Junior Bridesmaid sizes too! Here I'm posting a picture of the dress I already have for myself.
This is from the Alfred Angelo Collection.

Both of these are from the Alfred Angelo collection and the bridesmaid dresses will be in cornflower blue

just wondering what your colors are going to be

This is my tiara. I've tried so many on, but somehow, this one felt like it was part of me. I don't even feel it on my head because it hugs so well. It doesn't poke me anywhere and the sparkle is amazing! (I'm a sparkle, butterfly and ribbons kinda girl)

As for my veil, I couldn't find a picture of it anywhere but if you mix the design on the one, and the edging on the other, you get a really good idea as to how my veil looks like. My veil is doubled and at fingertip length, it's just beautiful at how it drapes over my shoulders and it's not pouffy (I hate pouffy) It just drapes really well down my back.

thats about the same thing that happened to me. Me and my FH talked about buying a home so for Valentines day he said that would be my gift and he was sorry he couldnt get me a ring, because he had to put down a substantial amount of money down on the house. So for Valentines day i said that i would propose to him right in front of our lot. Even though at that time it was only red dirt, the day before valentines i told him i want to go to the lot and he said why there is nothing there yet i said i just want to go. so we did and i told him to get out of the car and we just stood there and then i whipped out the ring and asked him to marry me, and he said yes. But a week later after Valentines i had 3 teeth pulled at one time and i was sitting in the chair and he ***e in the room with this plate with a cover over it saying he had fixed me a steak and i was fussing saying how am i gonna eat a steak with my mouth hurting and when i removed the cover there was an engagment ring on the plate, i was so shocked, that my daughter was standing there and she said are u gonna say something he is shaking he was still holding the plate out. i just laughed and said yes.

Ahhh, that's such a romantic story! I love the fact that he waited till you really didn't expect him to ask you to marry him. That's the best way to do it! Congrats on the official engagement! :)
