Well, as stupid as this might sound, I have never heard of Puerto Plata.

I have to Dominican Republic and it is a very beautiful island. I would recommend looking in to Punta Cana. Porta Plata I heard mixed feelings, a woman that went there just last winter had a terrible time. She said that it is very dirty. I know of a GREAT travel agent, jandmtravel.com They have a great section that focuses on Dominican Republic and could probably help you plan the entire thing. Just tell them that Tara Ripka sent you to their site. I would have gotten married there too, but Fiji took my breath away. Let me know if I can help you any further, I have done a lot of research on the Dominican Republic and truely love the island. Good luck with your wedding plans.

I am planning my wedding in Puerto Plata as well - March 2006. So far my travel agent has been very helpful - in regards to getting all the appropriate documentaion and contacting the resort to bookthe wedding. Not quite sure what kind of information that you are looking for.....but so far my plans are underway! :D
