Our wedding is only 10 days away, so I figured it was WAY overdue for me to start this....
Jason and I met about 4 years ago now. I actually got his attention with a side kick to the ribs! We were in kickboxing classes, and he didn't think much of fighting me until I got him good with my side kick! He made sure he kept his guard up after that...
We started hanging out in the same group of friends from kickboxing. He really liked me, but I guess I was just so naive that I didn't notice. He ***e to my work on day and asked me to go to dinner with him. I thought he meant just as friends. I know now that he was crushed when I asked him that, but I didn't notice it then...
Eventually, he worked up the nerve to ask me out. I said no. He tried again, and again I said no... The poor guy decided to try one last time. This time, he just kissed me... That was the beginning. We started dating that day in October 2001 and have been together since...
The proposal March 23, 2003
Jason had told me just after Christmas 2002 that he wanted us to start seriously looking at engagement rings. I was so happy! We looked and he had a really good idea of what I wanted. In fact, we picked out the diamond together. I thought it would take a few weeks for the ring to be made, so maybe he'd propose next month... Wrong...
That weekend he asked me to go to a nice restaurant "Just Because"... I should have known that he was up to something, but I didn't have a clue. I really believed that we were going there "Just Because."
After dinner, the waitress brought out a fruit tray, which they hadn't done the only other time we had been there. I thought it was really cool. She set it down in front of us, and I froze. In the middle of a raspberry in the center of the tray, was the most beautiful engagement ring I'd ever seen... I couldn't believe it!
I cried, "Oh, my gosh! It's my ring!" Jason reached for the ring and said, "I want to do this right." He got down on one knee in front of the entire restaurant and proposed! We were both teary-eyed! I happily accepted and the restaurant broke out in applause!
Our wedding May 22, 2005
We chose this date for a few reasons... First, I have always wanted to get married in May and I love the number 22... More importantly, we knew we would be paying for this wedding ourselves so we needed time to save. I was going to school full-time and only working part-time when we got engaged. I graduated from college May 2004, so the 2005 date would give us a year to save with both of us working full-time. It has worked out really well! I'm glad we took our time because it is a lot of work and we had a lot of other things going on!
Our wedding next Sunday (10 days!) will have the ceremony at the church and the reception at a hall nearby. Jason is from England, so I will get to meet his dad, stepmom, half-brother, and half-sister for the first time a few days before the wedding!!! I'm really looking forward to it though!
I can't believe how fast 2 years went by!!! It really flew!

Just a quick vent...
Even though we called EVERYONE that had not responded last Saturday, we still have not heard from 6 people (or 3 households however you want to look at it). They are all my FH's mom's friends, so I asked her to ask them and let me know. Still haven't heard anything and I asked her Tuesday!!!
How frustrating! How hard is it to call someone back! First they don't send in the response card on time and now they can't call. His mom told me that one of her friends was going, and she didn't know if she was bringing a guest.. Well, if I don't hear from them soon, they won't be bringing a guest or their guest will be at another table!!! UGH...
We have SO many other things to do than chase down people to see if they are going or not. HOW RUDE!!!
We have a seating chart completed but it changes if she is bringing a guest. UGH... I have to do placecards too and turn everything in to the hall Wednesday. If they can't let me know by then, too bad... They're not going! SO THERE! :D I feel better now... lol

P.S. I just want to get the seating chart and placecards done by the end of this week because we have too much going on next week. I told his mom that but I still haven't heard a response...

If I were you, I would tell his mother that if you don't have an answer by Friday at noon, you'll assume they're not coming and you're turning that information in to the hall that afternoon. Ask her to leave a message with them if she doesn't find out sooner apologizing that they won't be attending and wish them well. Its really the only way to put a fire under her.

Well, I called her friends myself this morning and got an answer from them. One of them said she had left messages with his mom. Nice of her to pass them on to us!!! UGH!

I went last night for my hair and makeup trial... :) It looked SO awesome!!! I am getting so excited... 9 days... I can't believe it...
We went to dance lessons yesterday too. We have so much fun at those! We have a dance (waltz) routine to our song, "Open Arms" by Journey. We are so excited about dancing in front of everyone... nervous too. I hope it goes well! We'll have to practice a lot and we have another lesson Wednesday night.
Still SO much to do! Since we now know who is/isn't going, we can finalize the seating chart, and I can do the placecards. I hope to get the placecards done by tomorrow. I decided to do caligraphy on them... I hope they'll look all right!
My bachelorette party is tomorrow night too! I can't wait to get out! I'm looking forward to Sunday too because I made it a day to spend with my bridesmaids. We're going to lunch then getting massages (my treat for them). I NEED A MASSAGE SO BAD right now!! lol It will be a fun, busy weekend!
Jason has Navy reserve duty this weekend so I'm glad that I'm busy too. His reserve duty was supposed to be next weekend (we're getting married next Sunday the 22nd). He had to tell them... "I'm getting married that Sunday. Can we change it?" Thank GOD they let him change it... Can you imagine?? That would have really stunk! It was kinda funny the way he told me though. He told me a few weeks ago that his reserve duty would be May 14 and 15. I said that he would miss his bachelor party but I'm sure they had plenty of time to schedule it for another day. Then he told me that his duty was supposed to be the weekend of the wedding, and I was SO glad it would be the 14 and 15th instead. It was a "Oh, in that case the 14th and 15th sound great honey" moment!

Oh, one other thing that I almost forgot... DEFINITELY have a hair trial before the wedding and take a good look at your veil. I paid for my veil to be altered so the veil would be attached to the headpiece with velcro so I could easily take it off for the reception.... At the hair trial, I noticed that they had not done this...
I had to take it to the shop and make sure they can have it done in time... I HIGHLY recommend checking everything out before the wedding day just in case...

I had a great bachelorette party! It was a lot of fun! My MOH had the party at her house... Yes, there was a stripper... lol I had a blast!
Sunday, I took the bridesmaids out to brunch. I wanted to take them to dinner but one of them had to drive back up to school that night so brunch was it.. That's okay. I got them half hour massages too. They loved them! I loved mine too! I don't recommend getting one just days before the wedding because you are a little sore the next day. It was SO relaxing though!
Yesterday we had an appointment with our pastor. He actually read us our vows! It was so cool to hear them! We ran over plans and the ceremony just so we aren't discussing everything at the rehearsal and making the rehearsal take forever...
Today, I have my final dress fitting. I had a fitting last week, but they had to take it in another inch on each side. The poor seamstress... I'm not going to complain though. I love it! I can't wait to see what it looks like now that it will fit! I'll have to remember to ask them if my veil is done yet too.

It really sounds as if you are gearing up for the wedding. I am glad you had an awesome bachelorette party. It sounds as if you and your bridesmaids had a fun filled weekend. OH, how I wish I was your bridesmaid ... I could really use a good massage.
I hope they get the dress right and have the veil ready for you. Your wedding is getting so close and I am sure your excited to get the final touches ready so everything can fall into place.

Thanks, it was a great weekend... Well, if you lived in Michigan, I could refer you to a great person for a massage! :) She is a friend and does a really great job for a low price. She even comes to your house!

sounds like you had a great time! Never complain about having to take a dress in - only complain when you have to let one OUT! :)

Well, since I am very far from Michigan I either have to find one here or see if your friend will come to Arizona. LOL. My mom and I have been talking about me going into get a massage to see if it would help me relax. Usually when I get stressed out really bad I start getting severe headaches from my brain and nerve damage. This is why I really need a massage. Time to look for someone in the yellow pages.

I get bad stress headaches and a massage relieves those... It can't hurt right?

That's right. Maybe if I can find an awesome massage person then I would not have to get the shots in the back of my neck every three months to deaden the rest of the nerve which is severely damaged. I would do anything so I did not get the headaches and have to get the shots. They really are no fun. However, I have received them that last three years so have gotten used to them. Surely the massage therapist would know how to relieve the pain the nerve shoots off.

A good one would more than likely. Make sure they know before hand about your trouble though just to be safe. One of my bridesmaids was quite shocked by the massage therapist... She was able to tell that my bridesmaid had trouble with one of her nerves without my bridesmaid telling her. My friend was VERY impressed with the massage and may start getting them regularly. :)

Okay... where to start? Yesterday was awful.
I had a dentist appointment then went for my fitting. My dress fits great, but they left extra fabric around the hips where they hemmed it. I told them to cut it last week but they still haven't... It makes my hips look huge!!! I hope they cut it and it is ready in time.
My veil still isn't done either!! Plus, now they tell me that I should where a slip skirt to puff up the dress more. It is days before my wedding! I have done all my fittings without one so the hem would be too high if I wore one and if they redo the hem, it probably won't look as nice because it would be rushed. UGH! Why did they have to tell me this now? Now I'm going to think my dress doesn't look right and will look awful. Thanks a lot!!! Sometimes keeping info to yourself is a good thing! UGH...
It didn't stop there either. My dad calls me to harass me about the time of the reception and what the invitation says. Just what I needed. I got home and cried. I didn't need that!
Bless his heart... Jason comforted me then said we'd go out to dinner and he'd cheer me up. God I love him... We got home from dinner, went for a relaxing walk, then practiced our dance routine for our song. By the end of the night, I felt so much better. I can't wait until the day.. Just 4 days left...

They should wait till the last minute to cut out the fabric - while you're not going to gain 40 lbs before your wedding, god only knows what could happen - as for the poofy skirt thingie, if you like how the dress looks on you without it, then that's the way it should look. They're just trying to get you to buy one from them and spend 50 bucks on something you don't want and that you're not going to wear because your hemline is already set! :) Its going to all work out. Tell Dad to simmer down and relax so that you can do the same! :)
As for the veil, I would be calling the shop EVERY DAY to make sure it gets done :)

Thanks... They told me they wait until your last fitting to cut it. I was there last week though and told them to cut it... I just don't want my hips looking bigger than they are! Who does?
I really appreciate the advice on the puffy thing. I'll go without it then. I was just thinking that my dress wouldn't look right without it since that is what they said... but I also think you're right and the hem wouldn't look right with it.
I will call them tomorrow to check and if it isn't ready, they'll hear from my bad side!!! lol
Thanks again.

Ya know, sometimes you don't wanna bring out that badside because people will start calling you bridezilla - but ****! in a situation like this, its necessary! if they feel the need to call me bridezilla, that's fine with me - I'll make sure that everyone knows WHY I had to get all crazy on them! :)
I can just hear it now "yeah we had this bride and she went all crazy! what a bridezilla! I can't believe she called and complained and raised her voice all because her veil wasn't done when it was supposed to be and we really were very blase about it"
Yeah - that's going to go over well :P

Jason's dad and stepmom are coming into town today. I've never met them so I'm a little nervous, but I am really looking forward to it. His dad and stepmom used to live in England, but they retired to France last year. Jason hasn't even seen his dad since 1998, so I know he is really excited. :)
Gosh... 3 days to go. I just can't believe it.
