Is there a certain $$ amount that is proper to spend on gifts for the wedding party? We have picked out small token gifts for them, but did not know if this was enough or if we should add to this

No you can spend whatever amount you wish on the gifts for the wedding party. In fact some brides will make the gifts for the wedding party. The one thing I would suggest though is spending a little more on the MOH and BM's gifts since they have more responsibilities.

There is no set dollar amount you must spend - its a token of appreciation - and it could be something you made, or something you've bought. It really doesn't matter - its just a thank you :)

I agree with nle5, although there is no $ amount, I would probably make something a little closer to the heard for MOH and BM or spend a little bit more because of the responsibility level, and typically they are the people the closest to you.
