ok so im definately not going for "here comes the bride for my walk down the aisle so I dont want the wedding march for the music right after its all over to walk back down and out of the church.
I know this song needs ot be a little more upbeat and happy but i want to go with something in the smame style as whatever I walk down with (which is gonna be classical or something like ave maria or canon in d).
What are you guys choosing?

We're actually going with a little bit of a Scottish theme since my fiance is half Scottish. We are marching out following a bagpiper...

If you're looking for a classical piece, here are a few suggestions:
- Air on the G String, by J.S. Bach (this sounds awesome if done by a string orchestra)
- Beethoven's 9th Symphony (also known as the Ode to Joy)
- Greensleeves
- Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring, by J.S. Bach (though this may be better known as a Christmas piece)
- If you like the cello, there's a really good cello solo from Camille Saint-Saens' Carnival of Animals, called The Swan
- There's also a piece called Trumpet Voluntary, by Jeremiah Clarke. While this sounds best on a trumpet (I think, anyways), it can be played by any instrument (I've played it on the violin)
- If you don't go with Ave Maria or Pachelbel's Canon as the processional, you could always use one of them for the recessional ...
I have no idea what we're using for music yet, but we have to talk to my brother, since he'll be playing the music for us on the trumpet or the piano ... and the music lists that people have posted are a great help! Thanks!
esp1087 ... a bagpiper would be awesome!

My ceremony musician recommended Rondeau by Mouret. I think she said it's from Masterpiece Theater. Anyway, I heard it and thought it sounded very unbeat and regal at the same time. I wouldn't know where you could hear a sample though. Ask your ceremony musician for ideas. Mine had plenty of books of music to choose from.

I've been thinking of using a song to honor my grandfather - he loved big band music - I'm sure I could come up with something from there :) even if it is just the instrumentals from it :)

Reecey, when is your wedding?
We have chosen Arioso as one of the songs when guests are being seated.
Rigaudon as our processional music
Pachelbel Canon as our recessional
Ode to Joy as one of the songs when we usher out our guests

Ok ladies, I am new to this, but the wedding is just around the corner and I need some advise. I agree with wanting an upbeat walk-out music, but I am not musically inclined at all. My fiance took another job 909 miles away right after proposing, so I have been left with all the wedding decisions. Quite frankly, I think I have reached my limit. But I think I am getting closer. We are having a Colorado Mountain Wedding. It is going to be close friends and family and a semi-formal affair. I was going to do the traditional wedding march in, but do you think the "accidentally in love" song from Shrek 2 would be too off-the-wall to walk out with? He (my fiance) is a big goof ball and my niece and nephew (flower girl and ring bearer) love the Shrek movies.

Wow friday, thats exciting. I love your choice of a exit song, I think that would work great for us too. I had a friend who walked out to Billy Idles White wedding. That was so her and added such a great personal touch with a great song

My cousin had "Zippity Do Da" as her recessional song. I think that's a really cute idea for something fun. I would do it, but I don't want to be copycat so I'm trying to find something fun. Everything else in the wedding is traditional but I want something a little different.

We are not traditional at all as far as our ceremony music. Our whole wedding is so contemporary and different. My bridesmaids are walking down to the beginning of a Tesla song (Love Song). It is just guitars but sounds pretty formal. I think I'm walking down to something traditional though. Our walk down song is Coldplay, Clocks. After the minister pronounces us husband and wife and says to kiss the bride, the song will begin. Our first dance song is Coldplay, Yellow. Just some stuff to think about. You can do anything you want...traditional doesn't always mean better.

My FH and I aren't the most traditional people in the world. I am also a music nut. I am insanely particular about any music at our wedding. For most of the ceremony I am going with classical music played by a string quartet. However, for the walk out I decided to go with something a bit more fun. I went with "Beautiful Day" by U2. I LOVE U2 so does Sean. It also sounds really great as an instrumental. I'll do a bit of work on the score of it myself just to insure that though. I don't want my guests to feel like they have suddenly been transported into an elevator. Before I decided on it though, I almost went with Vivaldi's Spring from the Four Seasons. It is incredibly upbeat (as upbeat as Baroque music can get). And with it being about spring it symbolizes a fresh new start.

It is interesting all the choices. I have to go with stuff that is a bit more traditional because of church rules indicating all music must show reverence for the worship ceremony that weddings are. It is really making the ceremony music a bit of a challenge.

Oh man-my fiance wants to play Tesla's "Love Song" at our reception! LOL-he's big into 80's hairbands, so there will be a lot of that..lol. My friend used the most BEAUTIFUL music at her ceremony. She had a harp player who played the Beauty and the Beast theme song while the little kids walked down the isle (the ring bearer, flower girls, etc.) and it was ADORABLE. Then, she walked out to this incredible song that I'm fairly sure I'm going to use too. It's all done on piano, and it's beautiful. And it just builds and builds and builds and it hits this one point and that's when the doors opened and you could see her. It was beautiful. Anyway, I really want the name of the song...she can't remember it. It's all piano and it's by a girl who was like 16 and wrote a song for a friend of hers who passed away. The music is just incredible though. If anyone has ever heard of this, please let me know! Oh yeah-and after they were married and pronounced "Mr. and Mrs. Batt", they walked down the isle to Eddie Money's "Take Me Home Tonight" and he picked her up and carried her out! hehe :)

I think I read that in a bridal magazine I have in an article that had song suggestions and thought it was pretty cool. Good melody.

I read your post and the word 'reverence' caught my eye and reminded me of an issue I had at my first wedding. Now that I look back at it, it's funny, but boy was I hoppin' mad at the time...
My now-ex's mother was ****ed b/c I wanted to walk down the aisle to the traditional 'Here Comes the Bride'. She is ultra religious and is one of those people that will push it down your throat. So at brunch one day, we are talking about the music and when I said I was using this for my walk, she gets all ****y and says that she doesn't like the idea b/c she doesn't think that eveyone should be looking at the bride, but instead should be looking to God. My response was that "I paid $600 godd*mn for my dress. Everyone in that church had better turn and look at me!" OMG, you should have seen her face! lol

We're not having music in our ceremony except for a few songs before, a few songs after, the processional and the recessional.
I read that Clocks was a good recessional song too, but... I didn't think the words really work for a wedding.
If you want something different that still sounds nice (and I would think would be accepted in a more traditional church too), we're using songs from a CD called "The Vow" by Druidstone. It's mostly instrumental Celtic music... Irish, actually, no bagpipes... We're using "Processional (Cait Ni Dhaibir)" for our processional and "Haste to the Wedding" as our recessional. (I'm so excited about our ceremony music. I put the pre-processional and post-recessional song lists together yesterday.)

After the mix up I had with the church secretary misfeeding information to the minster and causing SO many problems they are just happy I didn't cancel my check. Pretty much anything I want at this point they are happy to go along with. Heck, I am even bringing in my own officiant...a friend from college who got ordained through the Universal Church of Life and did I mention he is actually Jewish. Because, I think I forgot to mention that last part to them before the signed the contract giving me the ok on it. The regular minister is out of town that weekend so they said I could bring in ANYONE that I wanted. So I did.

I love Coldplay... our excuse for buying the CD was to figure out which one Clocks was because we figured we'd use it. Then I listened to it, went "Oh, THAT's Clocks" and said... the beat's good, but... are they (Modern Bride, not you) insane? (It's kinda depressing for me.) If we were bigger fans, we'd probably be less picky with it... I mean... "Fish and Get Fat" is our wedding party song and the song directly after the recessional is called "Stain the Grout", so...

Anyone heard the song "What a Beautiful Day" by Chris Cagle? I love the music, especially at the beginning, and I was actually wondering how that would work for the walk down the aisle. I'm going to have to see if I can get that as an instrumental.

I am planning for us to exit to Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee. That is really upbeat for sure! :) I know a girl in college who exit out to the peanuts theme. She was a big snoopy fan so it fit her perfectly.
