Has anyone had a wedding or is planning a wedding in Nassau or Paradise Island? If so, please let me know where you had it and how it went or how the planning is coming

There are TONS of places in the Bahamas to have a nice event. Many all inclusive resorts offer FREE weddings if you stay with them for 5 days. Some things to keep in mind when choosing a destination:
1. Your budget
2. How many people are you expecting? Will it just be you and your fiancee or are you planning on inviting close relatives and friends?
3. IF you are inviting friends and family keep in mind that many AI resorts are adults only. So if there is a slight possibility that your cousin might bring their newborn or your 5-year-old nephew would be coming...then think "family friendly".
4. If friends/family are coming it will more than likely be their "vacation" for the year so pick a place that would be fun for them AFTER the wedding when you two are off enjoying your honeymoon.
5. If you want everyone staying together make sure you pick a place that is big enough to accomodate your entire party.
6. When all else fails...set up a meeting with a good, trustworthy, local travel agent. She'll be able to guide you to a good resort based on your budget and needs. As well as help set up plane tickets/discounts/airport transfers/etc.
Good luck!

There definately *are* a lot of locations in the Bahamas - there's something like 700 different islands!
We found a great place to start planning ours at the Caribbean Wedding Guide (http://www.islandbrides.com/) - they have a lot of information on the islands, and their directory of businesses os pretty extensive - will let you track down a few good places to get in contact with.
I know Sandals in Nassau is supposed to be a great place, and they organise weddings daily. They even have an island off the main hotel you can use (kind of fun to have to ferry your guests in!)
There's also a few hotels very close to Sandals if you are bringing guests with kids.
Don't forget to try and get a hotel deal if you're bringing a few guests with you - hotels will usually give you a pretty good break on groups!
Hope it helps, and good luck in your planning

You might want to consider checking out the official tourism website of the Bahamas for ideas. It is an award winning site and tells you alot about the Bahamas. For weddings, just go to the "what to do" menu. You can find information on specific islands or contact one of the coordinators listed under wedding professionals. The website is bahamas.com.
Hope this helps.
