I am having my two sisters and my best friend as my HB, MOH, and GM. I picked different dresses for each of them to wear because I thought that the dress would fit them. I know that they each love the dresses I picked out. The dresses have very few similiarities to them. I was wondering if it was okay to have such a variety. My mother thinks that I should have them all in the same dress and my MOH have a small alteration. I disagree with her. What do you all suggest?

I think it is important for each lady to feel comfortable in what they are wearing and if that measn they each have a different style then that if fine. It is actully becomming pretty popular to have the maids in diffferent style dresses of the same color. If you like the dresses and the bridesmaids like them then I would dfinatly say to keep thing how you want them afterall it is your day!

I was in a wedding where we picked out our own dresses. The dresses just had to be in the same color so we had many styles of dresses there. I have heard of weddings where each bridesmaid has a different dress. I think it would be neat!

Thanks for your opinions! I was also wondering if the dresses had to be the exact same color. For my bridal party I would like pastel blues. I was thinking about having my GM in a light pastel blue, the MOH in a medium pastel blue, and my HB in a dark pastel blue. I have no idea where I can find a color scheme for pastel colors. My dress is going to be in white and my FH wants his tuxedo to be in all black while the groomsmen and Best Man match the girl bridal party.

I think that it is fine to have the girls in different styles, as long as it is the same color scheme. I think having the bridal party in different shades of blue would look nice. As long as SOMETHING unifies...I think either the same dresses in different colors or different dresses in the same color (even if it is different shades).

When I picture the colors in my mind I think it will look very pretty with the different shades of pastel blue with the guys matching accents of the same colors, I would say that as long as you are staying in the same family of colors it will be fine.

I am sure you can find the pastel color scheme in many places but remember that dress companies probably don't carry all those colors. The company we ordered our bridesmaid dresses from had TONS of color available. Check out www.alfredangelo.com. They have a large color selection, so you should be able to get some ideas from that.

Have fun!

I am doing the same thing. i told my girls that i want them to find dresses that they are comfortable in. so each will be in a dfifferent dress. and since my wedding colors are blue and purple two of the girls will be wearing blue and the other two will be wearing purple and they will walk down the aisle alternating the colors and the guys will match the girls that they are with and i have three flower girls that will be walking down all toegther and the middle will be in blue while the other two will be in purple. I close my eyes each time and see how it looks soo awsome. so your idea will work as for the guys AFTER HOURS and President Tuexedos have pastel colors.

I think the idea of a palette of blues is beautiful. Great thinking! You could pull the whole look together by having different shades of blues in your bridesmaids' bouquets. I know blue hydrangeas are my favorite and they come in different sizes and shades.
My BM's all had to wear the same dress (two piece) and color (taupe) because they are all out of state and I just didn't trust that they would choose dresses to look uniform enough for the wedding because they would not be able to see what everyone else had chosen. They have extremely different tastes and without me being able to help them pick one out, I was scared of what the result would be. They all seem to love the dress and agree it's one of the few you can wear again. I hope they are not just being nice. My sister (MOH) found out she will be six months pregnant at the wedding, so we had to change hers for a similar style and it is a shade lighter. I am kind of glad because I think it will distinguish her as the MOH.

yeah i agree! I think it will distiguish her as the MOH! Yeah I was thinking the different blues for the BM flowers too!! I just ain't sure what kind of flowers yet. I do know that I am going to have Tulips as my bouquet because those are my favorite flowers! My FH is still thinking about the flowers he likes. We are probably going to go out some time this month just to look at flowers and colors! i can't wait!

Try a home improvement store that sells paint or paint store. They will have color sample cards. And the cards are usually grouped by color family and tone, so that might help you match up the variety you are looking for.
