Hey all,

I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas on cutting the costs of a wedding photographer. So far everything I've found has been so expensive that it would be impossible to have the wedding I want and capture it on film. I'd have to sacrifice one or the other.

Thanks!
Ana

Ask Your photographers about just getting the pictures. The cost of Wedding Photography is all in the "Package". You can do the Wedding albums and any enlargements yourself.

I had contacted the local community colleges in my area and met the photography instructors and the top students. They are always willingto make extra money by doing photography and they are not expensive at all. It also helps them with their portfolio and gets them experience too (Students). I am hiring the photographer for the college newspaper. It's only costing me $150.00 for the photos plus I buy the film.
I am having a huge wedding on Aug 2 (400 guests) and I have cut so many costs by taking shortcuts. Email me for more ideas

Try buying disposable ***eras and asking your guests to take the pictures themselves! It will be fun and all you have to pay for is the cost of the ***eras and then the cost of either having the film developped and the pictures printed, or -- even cheaper -- of putting these pictures on CDs and offering them as such to your guests (instead of making albums). Good luck!

I would love to do that -- but I am so scared. This is the one day that I will want to remember and I am not sure if I want to take that kind of chance. When is your wedding? I would love to know how that would work out. I am still looking for a photographer.

The wedding that I planned on having if I end up having 100+guest is costing me $1,550.00 and that includes the ceremony, the reception, and the photographer and the minister but after I send out all my invites and find out how many are gonna actually be there, and if it's like 83 it's gonna cost me anywhere between $1,200 to $1,350.00 for the wedding I am having. The place does all that for one price with a $200.00 deposit which is included in the final price. So I really think I am gettin off cheap by doing it that way and all I really gotta do is supply my dress and my daughers dress and my sons tux and my soon to be hubby's tux and maybe a few little odds and ends along the way but other than that everything else is covered in my wedding package.

buying disposabal ***aras and placing them at the tables is alot of fun..i went to a wedding where they did that and the pictures where a blast and all you would have to concentrate on is getting the photographer to take pictures of you and your groom/bride andyour family ...

Wow!! Tell me more about how you were able to cut your costs so much. I am all ears!! I'm planning about 65 and want to have a nice wedding and reception but also want to have enough cash left over for a great honeymoon (planned to be a 7 day cruise).

this is actually a great idea. I'm going to be saving money by me and my bridesmaids and all going to the community college's cosmetology school. And if you're worried because the photography students aren't professionals. Ask for their portfolio. Most have one. Some have done this before. It can't hurt to look.

I wouldn't skimp on hiring a professional wedding photographer. One who is experienced can really capture the moment. My aunt hired the photographer and just bought the negatives. That way you don't have to pay for them to develop it and put it in an album that part you can do yourself. ;)

Just thought I would let you know that a lot of photographers sell your wedding images on cd with all rights reserved to you so that you can take them into any drug stopre or phot studio and print them out cheap! So like what we are doing is doing a cheaper package with the photographer, paying for an extra few hours and then ordering a cd. Also most packages include your proofs.
