Well, I finally decided I would make a wedding journal on here so everyone could see our wedding planning progress. The wedding will take place on March 11, 2006 at 3:00 PM in Camp Verde, Az. We have finally decided to get married in the Camp Verde United Methodist Church, where I attended as a child. My family has always been very active in this church and there are still family members which attend church services every Sunday. Our wedding colors are navy, hot pink, silver, and ivory. I will wear an elegant wedding gown in ivory and the groom will wear an ivory tuxedo. The bridesmaids will wear navy dresses. The guest list includes almost 200 people including the officiant and spouse, dj and spouse, and photographer and spouse.
The reception will be held at the Camp Verde Community Center about 1 mile from the church. We are planning on starting the reception at 5:00 PM so pictures can be taken after the ceremony. My family is going to cater an Italian dinner which will include several types of salad, spaghetti with meat, spaghetti without meat, and italian bread (this of course is the start of the menu, more might be added later). We will include dancing at the reception and are going to book a dj for the event.
Tom and I have also worked very hard on our wedding website. We had it on one server and then it was taken off of the server for unknown reasons. Therefore, we changed it to another server and it works better than ever. There are also pictures of the happy couple on the wedding website. I have tried to upload some on here but it has not worked as the files are too big. I have asked Tom to try and optimize the pictures so you will not have to go to the website just for the pictures. However, we do not mind if you take look as we have put a lot of hours into the wedding website. With Tom being a web designer he knew exactly what to do without having to pay to go through one of the wedding website companies. Here is the link to the new wedding website (http://tomandnancy.stylehosting.com) .
I will be posting pictures of various things we have decided on which include different attire, flowers, cake, decorations, etc.
I have choosen a dress from David's Bridal. The dress is going to be ivory with a cathedral train. I do have to get the dress altered with a bustle so I can dance at the wedding reception. Here are some pictures of the dress.
While I had a hard time deciding what type of veil I wanted and if I wanted a tiara or not I finally decided on the following veil and tiara. After I get my veil made and my dress in from David's Bridal I am going to have bead work done on the veil that matches the dress.
After looking at a lot of dresses I felt appropriate for the junior bridesmaids to wear I finally choose a dress. I will have two junior bridesmaids, my oldest daughter and her best friend. The dress is shown in the picture in two different colors but I can order it in one solid color which the two girls like better. The dress will be in navy.
I have picked out the following tiara for the two girls to wear with their dresses. I was going to get the flower girls a tiara and the junior bridesmaids wanted one as well. Here is a picture of the tiara.
The flower girl attire is going to include the following dress and tiara. I am going to have two flower girls, my youngest daughter and her best friend. My FMIL crocheted a flower girl basket and once I get a picture of it I will post the picture.
As most of you know from reading some of the other forums, my FH's uncle made my cake top. I am adding a place for it here since I want to keep everything all together in one thread.
This was probably the hardest thing to agree on since I kept trying to find an invitation with two hearts, which is our wedding theme, and then he wanted a particular edge on the invitation. I think we changed our minds at least 5 times and went through numerous wedding invitation catalogs and websites. The invitation will have navy lettering and this invitation will print the front out with the lettering color choosen. The envelope will have a silver lining. I think this is neat since the whole invitation will have navy print. Here is the one we finally chose.
I found a place which prints up personalized banners. I decided to get one for outside the reception location so guests can find the place easier. Here is what the banner will look like once it is ordered.
The wedding cake was pretty easy to figure out what we wanted. I told him my aunt would make it for us and that I wanted to make sure it had a fountain. Even though we went through several Wilton Wedding Cake Books we soon decided on one. I love the picture of the cake and know my aunt will do an excellent job. The cake will also have several stairs in which I am trying to find some figurines of bridesmaids and groomsmen to place on them. I also would like to try and find a figurine of a flower girl and ring bearer. Here is a picture of the wedding cake.

all very very beautiful! Looks like things are really coming together for you! :)

While things are coming together, I still have a lot of things needing done. My mother is getting on my nerves and anytime I try to talk to her about the wedding she changes the subject or gets upset I have planned things the way I have. She has been telling me I am trying to spend too much on the wedding and would prefer me to go to the JP like I did the first time. I told her I was going to have a wedding this time around.
I changed from a Mexican dinner to an Italian dinner because she thought it would be too much for us to handle. Now I have almost figured out the Italian dinner and I am sure she will say something negative about what I have planned. If she starts to gripe about what I planned for the dinner then my next step is to have someone come in and cater the dinner. This of course is going to cost me more then I have planned.
I tried to talk to mom about her dress and when we can go shopping for it and she said that as far as she is concerned she will get her dress when she wanted. She also told me to tell my FMIL it was ok for her to pick out her dress before mom decides on what she will wear. I told her she is supposed to pick hers out first and then tell my FMIL what she is wearing and she said she didn't think that was necessary.
I keep telling mom this is my wedding and I will do what makes me happy. Guess I keep ****ing her off. Oh well, she has the same shoes to get glad in. I figure she ultimately has a decision to make, either help me with the wedding planning or stop getting upset about the things I have choosen.

You're totally right - my first time around, my mother didn't have any say in any of the planning and that really bit her in the arse. So in order to get attention (this was one of her several ways) she told me that if work asked her to work overtime that she was going to on the day of my wedding. Thinking this would throw me into a tissy and make me include her more - well, she was wrong - and I just said "okay - well at least try to make it at the reception for a bit - I'm sure that Deb (my stepmom) will take over your duties. " Well, that threw her back in line - but then again, my mom needs someone to put her in her place when she throws her fits -she refuses to be an adult a lot of the time :)

I love your cake!!! That is SO gorgeous!!!

Thanks! It is really the only one I liked that had the stairs and the fountain combination. My aunt also said that she can customize it for however many servings I need. One thing we are looking at is the fact we need the cake to feed approximatley 200 people so we are thinking we might just add the stairs and smaller cakes to the other side. Essentially have the stairs on both sides of the cake. I think it will look good either way.
Well, my mother told me this weekend that she wants me to concentrate on the sale of the house and moving. She asked that I put the wedding off until after all of this is done. I only have a little under a year to plan all of this stuff and now I'm supposed to just put it all to the "back burner" as she called it. I wouldn't be going crazy if she would just help me with the planning of the wedding or even help me with getting ready to move. I know I need to get things done for the move but doing the wedding planning or crafts helps me relax. I can't tell her that because she will just complain and tell me I'm doing too much. I mean there is only so much a person can do in one day to get ready to move. I only have a limited number of boxes right now to pack in and I can only get boxes as the stores have them.
Oh plus, I was also told to put my classes on the "back burner" and I told her I would not do that since I need them for my degree. I have already decided to not take summer classes this summer since I will hopefully move then. How much more am I supposed to drop just so I can freaking sale the house and move?
I don't really think mom is wanting me to have a nice wedding since everytime I talk to her she is always changing the subject. I tried to show her the flowers I made for the pew bows and some others my sister-in-law picked up. However, she decided to tell me that I needed to stop buying flowers until I know exactly what I need. I already know what I need flowers for and if she would just listen to me then she would know as well.

Is she maybe trying to be nice since you are so busy with the underlying thought that she could take over the wedding plans and basically do everything her way? Do what YOU want to do and do it WHEN you want to do it. You're a big girl now and mommy needs to realize that you're not 5 trying to finish your homework
For those of you that have not checked out our wedding website I have decided to upload several pictures of the two of us here. These pictures were taken on Easter Sunday this year.

Well thanks! It has taken a lot of time to create the look we wanted. My FH is a web designer and so we felt the sites that asked you to purchase the wedding templates are generic. We really wanted something unique. The site is not completed by any means and we are constantly doing things to the web site as we think of different things we want to add.
Wooo hooo!! The wedding dress is in and I get to pick it up on Saturday. I'm excited. I am taking my girls with me this time and have decided to let them look at some of the dresses they have at the salon. I never know when they will change their minds when it comes to clothes.

I love the wedding website. My fiance and I have set one up ourselves. Our guest think it is a great way to stay in touch.
Ok, I just cannot stop looking at the different wedding invitations. Tonight while searching I found this invitation titled Dearly Beloved -- Navy. The invitation has a dove, candles, roses, and a heart on the front. It is a z-fold invitation and has 1 Corinthians 13:13 on the center fold. It also has navy in the design, which is one of our wedding colors. Here is a picture of this invitation.
Now that I have shown pictures of both of the invitations, my fiance and I would like to know which one you like the best. Pretend you are coming to our wedding and tell us which invitation you would want showing up in your mail box. The first invitation is on the first page of this thread and the second one is directly above this message.

Both are beautiful! I like the first one - its simple and elegant - the second one is much fancier - I'm a very simple person though :)

I like them both, but I think I prefer the 1st one.
Well, I picked up my dress yesterday and tried it on at the bridal shop. It fit perfect. They did not suggest any alterations except for bustling the train. My aunt told me she can do that for me sometime when she comes up from Tucson. My tiara should come in the mail this next week so I can get the veil done and then off to my uncle's the dress and veil go to get the bead work done on the veil. I'm so excited!! I was really glad it did not need any alterations. My aunt who will alter the dress will do so just a few months before the wedding so we know it will fit for the wedding since I am still early with the dress.
I have worked on the children's coloring book cover a lot lately. I have almost completed it and wanted to share it with you ladies. I created this in my paint program my fiance showed me how to work. It takes a lot of time to get everything just right and can be a pain in the ***** (if you know what I mean). I am debating on whether or not I should straighten out the lines in the hearts or leave them the way they are. Tell me what you think.
I have made a decision on the accessories for the wedding and reception. We are going to use the "Linked at the Heart" accessories except for the ring pillow (already have it) and the cake top (already have it as well). Here is some pictures of what the accessories will look like. Since I am just posting links from the internet to show the pictures I do not know how big or small the pictures will be. Sorry if they are too big or too small.

My FH and his brother -- also BM -- have made a flash intro to our wedding website. I think it goes to fast and so they are going to try and slow it down some. I'm such a pain. Anyways, I figured I would let you all know since many of you have complimented on the wedding website and many have gone there numerous times.

I think it is very nice - but it is a little fast - one thing to remember is, that people going to your site for information are going to want to admire the flash - it may not seem fast to him because he's seen it a million times while creating it. Also, he's in the computer field - its important to be mindful of those that aren't - they don't necessarily read things as fast on a screen as some of us do :)

My fiance says to tell you he is working on it. He has to go to his brother's house and get into the program to slow it down. We will get that slowed down ASAP.
This weekend was very long and I was down most of it because of a freaking headache. I was at mom's house as my FH and I took a load of stuff to put into the storage unit mom had rented for us to use. Now I know what mom meant when she said I needed to concentrate on one thing at a time. I should know this is what I have to do since I have a brain injury from an auto accident. When I get going on several projects at once I get stressed out and end up getting these headaches that will not go away. I see my doctor in June again to get the shots in the back of my neck to deaden the nerve which is severally damaged. UGH, I really hate the shots but is the only way to get the nerve to not act up. I am really looking forward to the move and then getting married. Maybe, just maybe I will get a nice honeymoon so I can take a vacation. I have not had one in a really long time.
Well, I have finally made it through another ROUGH semester in which I ended up dropping a lot of my classes due to me getting pneumonia and missing a lot of classes. The one class I did end up finishing I got an "A" so I am happy about the grade. I will have to pick up the other classes later which means another semester added onto when I originally had planned to graduate. I have done rather well in school and was awarded on April 9, 2005 with Outstanding Academic Achievement. I attended an honors reception that was really nice and had almost 800 people there with all of the families of students.
The girls will end their school year the last week of May and I am excited for them to finish. Once everything is done with their school year I am planning on having them go stay with my parents for awhile so I can tie things up here with the sale of the house. The girls have several important dates this month with school. One of them is tomorrow which is Cinco de Mayo. The school always has a celebration and teaches the students about the different Mexican traditions on this day. They are having some people come in to show them the different dances as well. My girls got sombreros and so I took some of the flowers I had for the wedding and decorated them. I then had to decorate their best friends sombreros as well. I really enjoyed doing them for the girls. The other date is May 20, 2005 which is when my youngest will have her graduation ceremony from kindergarten. She is really excited about her graduation and keeps going around the house singing the songs the teachers are teaching them for the graduation ceremony. One of the songs is "This Little Light of Mine" -- she is so cute singing it and so I taught her the hand signals. Both of the girls received awards for "Most Improved" at this last months award assembly. I was very proud of them and told them to keep up the good work. They both started taking a big interest in school after I received my award for academic achievement. My oldest told me she is going to be just like me and make good grades.
The house should go on the market by the middle of this month. Two other houses just went up for sale withing a block of mine so I am pushing to get mine on the market. There are a couple of things which need to get fixed and then I can place it on the market. One good thing about this area is the fact the houses usually sell pretty fast. The people I have financed my house through have told me NOT to get a realator as they have a list of people wanting a house in the local area. Once they get the final ok to start showing the house then they will send people over to look at it. This will save me the money I would have to use on a realator. The money I have after getting the loan paid off I am going to turn around and use as a down payment on another house that is located near my family in Camp Verde. I should have enough to buy a nice size house or brand new manufactured home and lot. I really like the idea of getting a new manufactured home because I can pick out all of the colors I want in the house and the floor plan. Then it also come with a warranty so if anything goes wrong I can have the company come in and fix the problem. I know manufactered homes usually depreciate in value really fast but I was told if I had it placed on a stemwall then it will hold it's value and slowly increase like a regular stick built home. I guess the permanent foundatation is what makes the difference.
There has not been any new wedding plans going on lately since I have taken my mom's advice and am concentrating on the sale of the house. I realized after this past weekend that with trying to do too many things at once my body was getting really worn out and unable to handle it all. It is nice that my body will let me know when I have done too much and will give me signs I need to slow down. I cannot handle stress well at all and when I was trying to sale the house, get through with my classes, get the girls finished with this school year, and plan the wedding I was under a lot of stress. With me placing the wedding planning on the "back burner" for now and having my classes end I have been under a lot less stress than before. My fiance is helping me pack and doing things that need to get done before I place the house on the market.

The permanent foundation is the difference. It will then be deeded instead of titled like a mobile home. It increases the value signficiantly.

I just checked out your website again, and have a question, you guys are already registered! I won't register yet, because i have over 17 months left, but out of curiousity, how far in advance did you register? Is that typical? I thought you went about 6 months before the wedding.

No it is not typical to register this far in advance. One reason why I did is because I found out I could do it right here online. It was a lot easier and I could get it done and out of my way. Because I am a full time college student I have been trying to get anything I can out of the way so I am not rushed at the end plus trying to attend class.
Well, it's finally done. We slowed down the intro to the wedding website. For those of you who go to it frequently can you please make sure it is ok. I helped this time and we asked my FFIL if he could read it now and he said it was better.

I think it's perfect :D
Well, let me see. There have been some minor details planned over the past couple of weeks.
First, I was on ebay and found a lady from the local area who does silk wedding flowers. I emailed her asking if she had a website where I can see other pictures of her work and she told me she did not. She had a lady working on one put then just up and quit doing the work. Man, I really hate it when that happens. Anyways, I let her know my fiancee does website design. Now she has emailed me back after looking at the websites he has created and asked if we could exchange services. Basically, she will do our wedding flowers and he will create her website. WOW!!! I think I really found a good deal. We are going to work on the flowers and everything together. This is going to save me a lot of stress as I will not have to worry about the wedding flowers with everything else I have going on. Now all I will need to do are finish the ones for the reception. I am really excited and have seen some of her things on ebay which look great. I told her I had pictures of what I wanted my flowers to look like and she told me to bring them to our meeting we will have with her soon. I'm really excited now.
Second, we have been going through some music for the wedding and reception. We have basically decided to change some of the songs around and include more Christian songs in the wedding. I will have the father-daughter dance to Bob Carlisle's "Butterfly Kisses". I asked my mom if my dad would dance with me and she said yes she would make him. Then I plan on dancing with my grandfather to The Judd's "Grandpa Tell Me 'Bout the Good Old Days". I asked my mom how to ask my grandfather to dance with me at the reception and she said to just go and ask him. LOL. She feels he will dance with me since he likes to dance some.
Finally, I am still in the process of selling my house and finding something I like. I found a manufactured home today I really like and some land this weekend in the area I wanted. So now the hard part is getting everything coordinated to sell the house I am in now and get the other one set up.

Seems like you have a lot planned so far. I hope to see your dress fitting pictures since those are my favorite! Good luck and happy planning :)

Silk Floral Decorations for Wine Glasses (http://www.hibiscusflorals.com/larger_image.asp?PID=184)
I want to use something like this for the guest book.
I am going to try to make something like this for the head table.
Hopefully, I can make something like this for the church. I really like these arrangements.
I really like this arrangement for the candelabras I will use.
As you can probably tell from the pictures of the flowers I posted, I really love flowers. My wedding is going to have a lot of them and I will use more than just roses. I plan on using roses, carnations, lillies, etc. All of the centerpeices I am doing myself. The bridal party flowers and corsages are going to be made by a local lady who does silk flowers. I decided if she could make the bridal party flowers and corsages then I can handle the rest. I am going to have my wedding party help with the different flowers for the reception and church. It's a good thing for silk flowers or I would go broke trying to decorate the church and reception hall with the flowers I want. :)
These are some of the decorations I am going to use for the wedding reception.
I have two of these I am going to use at the reception. I still have not figured out where yet but was hoping for around the head table. I had originally planned to construct these so it will make one double heart sculpture but have decided that will not work. Heart Shape Balloon Sculpture (http://www.balloons-galore.net/pd_heart_shape_balloon.cfm)
I really like the design in this aisle runner. Aisle Runner (http://www.balloons-galore.net/pd_75.cfm)
I am going to order some of these clamps so my bridal party does not have to find a place for the bouquets. Several places I might use these are on the head table and cake table. Bouquet Table Clamps (http://www.balloons-galore.net/pd_floral.cfm)

I plan on using something like this for the entrance.

UUMMM, I did not take any pictures of me trying on the wedding dress. I forgot the camera and was not going to travel 1 hour to go get the dress. Right now I have the dress packed do to me packing everything for the future move that is in the very near future.

I want to use something like this for the guest book.
I love this idea! :)
Well, I made a phone call today about the sale of the current house I am in and was told the lady just got three couples approved for this area. The lady is going to have them come and look at the house in aproximately a week which will give me the time to paint the inside and do some minor trim work on the outside of the house. I am praying everything will go well so I can get this house sold and moved. Once all of this is done I can then start focusing on the wedding plans again.

why are u moving again? i forgot?
Because I can!!! No I am moving from my house I had purchased with the ex-husband in which he beat me and tried to kill me in it. It has very bad memories in it for me and my two girls. I am also moving closer to my family since I have been having some major medical problems lately.

Wow, my fiance and I finally came up with a list of songs for the wedding and reception. This is just a start as we are also trying to find some other songs, mostly for the reception. Well, we are looking and are going to purchase approximately a 1/2 acre and place a nice manufactured home on it. Otherwise, we will not be able to find a house in the price range I have already been pre-approved. We are looking at a 4 or 5 bedroom which will give up plenty of room.
One reason for the 1/2 acre is the fact my girls want to join 4-H or a similar club and raise animals. This club is an awesome club that teaches children how to raise and take care of animals. Anything from a rabbit and chicken to a horse or steer. No I am not going to let the girls get a steer or a horse but I am thinking a rabbit for the 6 year old and then a pig or goat for the 10 year old. My 10 year old can also start showing her purebreed Australian Shephard through 4-H.

LOL ... Always a smartarse in the bunch huh. Yeah I am going to reinvest a lot of the money I get from the sale of the house (after this loan is paid off) for another down payment on a different house. I am really getting excited about moving closer to my family and in the area I grew up.

4-H is really a good program. I was in it for years showing the goats we raised on our farm and it was a really good learning experience. It really teaches a lot of responsibility because the parents can't do it for the kids, they have to do it themselves. I know your girls will enjoy being in it and enjoy having something they can call their own and an accomplishment they can really be proud of. I'm so happy for you that you have been able to start a new life with them away from all the bad memories and with a new wonderful man who will help you to make new memories. Congrats and I know you will be very happy. :)

Thanks! My plans are sort of on hold unless I can search the internet for different ideas. I am trying to think of some fast dance songs for those that want to dance to some faster music. I might just let them make a request if they want that type of a dance.
I am really busy trying to get the last of the house ready for some people to come in and look at it to see if they want to buy it. They are planning on coming in about 1 - 2 weeks. I have to paint the inside of the house and the trim on the outside needs some touch up. The sale of the house is my priority right now so I can get it sold and moved during the summer which is going really fast. I am not so uptight about making sure I have the new house set up before the end of the summer since mom says that the two girls and I can stay with her while the new house is going through escrow and what not.
I've gone nuts with all of the things I have going on. Now, I have been in bed the last few days since I have been really sick and exhausted.

girl! kick back, relax and take a minute for yourself! being sick is no good! its bad for your complexion! :) You deserve to kick back - you've got plenty of time - besides - I've noticed...anything you don't get done will be waiting for you when you get to it :)

LMAO ... that is the thing, everything I am doing right now is with the house. Last night I stayed up all night to get a lot of the painting done. I managed to get the bathroom and hall way painted. The new bathroom door is finally on and I just have to wait for it to dry so I can put the door knob on the door. The dogs knocked out one of the patches we placed over their old doggy door so we have to redo it and hopefully they will not do it again. I am tired of being sick and I know it is bad for my complexion. I am broke out all over my face. It also does not help with several of the fires in Arizona being close to where I live which is making it all smokey and hard to breathe.
I know you all do not want to know everything, but to put it simple ... I have been developing cysts and tumors on my uterus. Because of this I am having a menstrual every two weeks which is wearing me out really bad and draining my body of important vitamins and minerals ... such as the iron. If things do not start to clear up with the new medicine then I will need to go in for a hysterectomy. For some reason, women in my family tend to start having this problem between 30 - 40. Well, I will turn 31 in a few short months. When I went to the doctor the other day he said everything should start clearing up but placed me on a new medicine which I have to take for two weeks starting Monday. Hopefully, this medicine will work. I need to get some iron pills since I am really low on iron right now because of what is going on.
I told my fiancee that if he wanted to leave since I have been really sick and moody then that would be ok and I would understand. But he told me that he loves me and the girls too much to just walk away.
When things cannot get any worse, I get an email from the DJ I was hoping to book, as soon as the house sold and I got the money, saying she cannot do the wedding. Someone else got ahold of her and wants her to do a wedding on the same date as mine. Can't the other people do a different date? Guess not. Anyways, now I need to find someone else to do the music. I might just have the FH's brother, who is good with sound and music, be the dj and mc. Oh well, it will all work out.

I got another email from the dj and she told me that she is still wanting to work with me if I am still wanting her to. She told the other people she was doing my wedding since I have had a lot of contact with her through email. So she is going to do the wedding reception so she can handle all of the MCing, requests, etc. I am happy now.
Get heart shaped grapevines wreaths to use instead of carrying normal bouquets for the bride's maids. They can be covered with flowers and greenery or just do the tops with a rose or two and a spray of ivy and ribbon loop handle. This would also be an effective pew decoration. This could also be done in dry or silk and kept as a keepsake.
Looking to dress up your ceremony or reception site? Designed with faux hydrangea petals accented with clusters of beads, these heart-shaped wreaths add warmth and charm to any location. Great for doors, walls, pews, or even the tail of your getaway car.
Get a heart mold for the ice in the punch and freeze it with organic flowers or candy hearts in it. White flowers don't look good frozen or dried. They tend to look brown. Heart sandwich cookies filled with red or pink jelly or cream would make nice favors. Or a cookie with no cut out and write names on them in icing for place settings.
Get or make a large wire frame heart or two large ones intertwined and cover with white Christmas lights. Hang as a great focal point.
Get a large Foam core board and cut out "grade school" looking hearts out of construction paper and paste them to the board. You can put photos of the couple together and growing up in each one or leave some blank for the guests to sign.
Cut out homemade hearts out of colored paper after you print on it with your computer for wedding invitations, programs or menus. I believe around valentine's day you can find heart shaped paper napkins.
Make a heart shaped cone to put your rice or rose petals or wedding favors in. Get paper cone favors and notch the top to look like a heart.
Adorn each table with interlocking heart centerpieces, you and your guests will treasure these for ever!
Get a great heart stamp or two at the art store and you can stamp all kinds of things such as napkins, your invitation envelopes, the photo poster board, the paper cones, place cards, paper table cloths.
I have seen a heart shaped rose petals in a magazine but I do not know how easy they would be to find.
Get a heart shaped hole punch and make confetti for tossing or decoration.
If you can't find a pretty heart shaped cake topper, you could get the bakery to make two cream puff that can face each other on top of the cake and "make" a heart. (like the Swan stamp at the post office right now.)
Get or make a heart shaped guest book.
Have the Ring Bearer carry a heart shaped ring pillow

Arrival of guests at reception site
Typically, a wedding lasts about 15 minutes. However, some guests do arrive early to the reception. Therefore, be sure all reception to-dos are complete by the start time of the wedding. Also, all wedding vendors should be wearing proper attire for early arriving and late staying guests. All tables should be set-up including cake table, entertainment’s table, sign-in table, food tables, and tables with chairs for all guests. If you have a seating arrangement, all seating lists should be at the reception with everyone’s name with where they are sitting.
Introduction of wedding party
This step is not mandatory, but it is nice for everyone to know who the wedding party is as many have not met before your wedding. Create a “Reception Planning Guide” and give this to your master of ceremonies prior to your wedding. This details, among other things, the order of entrance into the reception site with their names and titles. The order of entrance is as follows: parents of the bride, parents of the groom, ushers with bridesmaids, flower girl and ring bearer, special guests, best man, maid/matron of honor, bride and groom. In addition, review the pronunciations of the wedding party's names with the master of ceremonies.
Introduction of bride and groom
This is always the last of the introductions. Everyone should stand before the bride and groom enter. In addition, a special song can be arranged with the music entertainment and a special announcement made to punctuate a true grand entrance. Also, inform the master of ceremonies how you would like to be introduced: Mr. and Mrs. Smith or John and Jane Doe.
Blessing
This is another step that is not mandatory, but for the religious couples makes a nice setting. If you invite the person who performed the marriage ceremony to the reception, I would recommend having them conduct the blessing. If they are not able to attend, a parent or family friend is a good idea. Lastly, the master of ceremonies could give the meal blessing. Be sure to communicate with whomever is giving the blessing in advance so they are prepared to give a personal touch.
Meal
It's time to eat! Bride and Groom, be sure to stop and take a moment to eat. This may be your only chance in the day. In addition, it is customary for the bride and groom to start the food line. Most guests know to wait until the bride and groom start the food line. So don't be late!
Cake Cutting
This is the traditional bride and groom making the first cut on their wedding cake. Then, the bride feeds half of the piece of cake to the groom and the groom feeds the remaining half to the bride. The cutting of the cake is a ceremony intended to symbolize the caring and sharing for one another. Forks may be used as they make the image very attractive for the photographer. Forks may also minimize the possibility of someone being hurt with the more playful squashing that sometimes happens.
Toasts
The toast is when the bride and groom toast each other then interlock arms and drink. Immediately following, the best man and maid/matron of honor make toasts to the bridal couple. Be prepared for other family and friends to follow with their toasts too.
Bride & Groom’s First Dance
The Bride & Groom’s Dance is the first dance between a bride and groom as a married couple. The dance is also commonly known as the "First Dance". The timing of the bride groom dance can vary in the evening based on your preferences. The first dance can be done immediately following the grand entrance with the wedding party circling the dance.
Father & Daughter’s Dance
The Father & Daughter’s Dance or the Father Bride Dance is the dance between the father(s) of the bride and the bride. Brides, if you have more than one father in your life, one can tap the other on the shoulder in the middle of the dance so you can dance with both of them. If you do not have a father, a common substitute is a father figure or even your brother would make a very nice gesture.
Mother & Groom’s Dance
The Mother & Groom’s dance is the dance between the mother(s) of the groom and the groom. Grooms, if you have more than one mother in your life, one can tap the other on the shoulder in the middle of the dance so you can dance with both of them. If you do not have a mother, a common substitute is a mother figure or even your sister would make a very nice gesture.
Special Dances
There may be songs in your life that mean dear to your heart. You can ask the music entertainment to play these songs during the night or immediately following the formal dances. An example would be: If someone dear to you passed recently, you may ask the music entertainment to play Angels Among Us by Alabama.
Bouquet and Garter Toss
The traditional tossing of the bouquet is when the bride tosses the bridal bouquet to all single women in attendance. Immediately following the bouquet tossing, a chair is set in the middle of the dance floor. The chair is for the bride to sit and the groom to remove the bride's garter from her leg. The traditional tossing of the garter is when the groom tosses the bride's garter to all the single men in attendance. The people whom catch the garter and bouquet are said to be the next one to marry.
Dancing and Fun
This is what you pay the music entertainment to do...get people to dance and have a good time. Give the music entertainment music examples and limitations of what type of music you want but don’t give them a list of 100 songs they need to play.

Well the house is sold and I am waiting for them to set the final closing date. I have a tentative date of August 5th. They are hoping to close it earlier should all of the money come through and all of the paperwork gets done. UGH, it's a pain in my ***** trying to pack everything, especially since I have 5 years of cr@p to go through. LOL, I am throwing a lot of it away.

I'm really sorry to hear that. I have a broken engagement in my past so I know how painful it can be. You know you're always welcome here, although I can understand if you wouldn't want to visit a board dedicated to weddings.
I hope the future brings better luck than the past has, and I hope you have a good holiday season.

I think it's always worth a try. How does she feel? My DH and I broke up several months ago for four months, but we decided to give it another try and we were just married this past Friday. :D One thing we learned from our breakup is to really pay attention to what led up to it and try not to repeat those things, or to nip them in the bud the minute we realize they're happening again. It really gave us a new perspective on how much you have to work at a relationship, and we both believe our relationship is better now than it was before the breakup.
Of course, if you don't learn anything from what led to your breakup, then you'll be doomed to repeat it. So make sure you both understand the reasons for the breakup and are committed to not allowing those things to happen again.
Good luck!!
By the way, a book that really helped DH and I was "His Needs, Her Needs" by Willard F. Harley. It's a great book and was recommened to us by many people, including a marriage counselor we know.

Tom,
Things are actually going really good for the girls and myself. I had a 4.0 gpa last semester and will end up taking six classes this next semester. After this next semester I will student teach and then graduate in December.
The girls are doing really good. I sent your mom and dad some school pictures which were taken this school year. The girls are in 4-H and love their little bunnies. The bunnies are getting big now and hop around everywhere.
I do not know what to tell you about how you still feel about me. I obviously do not have those same feelings for you anymore and I think it would be hard for me to have them for you again. I really got myself in a bind with all of the stuff I had purchased for the wedding and I am actually going to be trying to sale most of it to get back what I can to make up for the money I spent. I know right now I have decided not to meet another man until after I graduate from school, especially since the next two semesters will be rough and I will be very busy with classes. Of course, I cannot say I will not meet one and do some casual dating just until I get out of school. By casual, I mean maybe going out to dinner, a movie, etc. If it happens then it happens.
The holiday season turned out really good for all of us. The girls had a blast and received a lot of things, from my side of the family and my ex's.
We finally got into an apartment and are now setting it all up and unpacking. The apartment is a 3 bedroom/2 bath and about 900 sq ft. The girls are happy because they have their own rooms and a playground at the apartment complex where they can play.
I wish you much success in your life and hope you can turn it around to make something of yourself. Tom, just remember you are a lot smarter then you let everything think you are. If you use your talents in a positive way then you will be able to make something of yourself. You really need to think about where you want your life to go and what you want to do in life before you get too much older and want to try and have a family. Get settled down first, get a job, and then see where life takes you. If you do these things then you should go far.
Nancy

Well, yes it is true that I broke off the engagement. I will let everyone know that there will not be any reason for Tom and I to get back together. Even if he wants us to it is over. I cannot stand some of this attitudes. He still does not have a job (except his website business which does not do any good). One thing that lead to me breaking the engagement off was some of the crap he was putting me through at the time I broke it off. Plus, if any of you was on the forums of our website then you would know the stuff he said about certain people in my family. I confronted him about it and he denied it all. Anyways, I hope everyone the best in the lives and marriages or engagements. I will not be back to the posts as I have been very busy finishing school. I will graduate this December. As most of you probably read in the email (which I sent to Tom and he posted here; so much for sending PERSONAL emails to someone:mad: ) the girls and I are doing wonderful and have been staying busy.
