I am posting to find out if anyone has experience good or bad with any of the following businesses...(and recently this year or last) because there is some old press, back in 2002 and later about some of these businesses.
Please be honest. I have floral design experience and am planning to do my own flowers for my November wedding. Looking for online purchasing experiences-

Does anyone have any feedback on:

Marisol Blooms
2G Roses aka Fresh Roses
OnlineWholesaleFlowers.com
FlowerFarmstogo.com
FreshFlowersandmore.com
(GrowersBox- limited selection but worth a mention if you only want roses.)

I have priced them all out and am leaning towards OnlineWholesaleFlowers or Marisol Blooms (pricey shipping though)
I just thought I would take it to the source here and see if anyone has some feedback. Also feel free to email me if you have flower or design questions! Thank you.

Jenn,

Have you checked the Better Business Bureau for any of these places. They have to let you know where they are located if you ask and then you can do a search of the local Better Business Bureau for that area. I think the Better Business Bureau would be able to answer that question better than some of us who might be hearing of these places for the first time. I hope this helps some.

I know someone who has used costcos whole sale flowers and they were very happy. I know sams club does it too and you can see their choices of flowers online

I gave up with all the on line buy your own flowers. I marched over to my local florist and asked her to sell me the flowers I need. She agreed, no work for her except taking them in and cutting the stems. Bonus for me no shipping hold ups no last minute screw ups. I recommend you go ask your local florist, it will be more expensive than on line ordering, but you have piece of mind knowing your flowers will be

A. on time
B. undamaged
C. can be substituted if needed by an experienced florist on the spot.
D. handled correctly when they come in
E. cheaper than having a florist do your flowers 1/2 the price you pay is florist labor ( I used to be one ;) )
Good luck.

good advice :) I understand the worry about having something perishable delivered from a place online that you haven't done business with before...
Another option versus a florist is if you have a Sam's club, you can order the flowers through them, the get them in the store and keep them in the cooler for you - and they do bulk flowers - then you can refuse them if they look like crap - might be cheaper if you have really expensive florists in your area or are getting married near valentine's or mothers day when prices are sky high.

Hi Jenn,

I'm so glad you asked! The flowers from Online Whilesale Flowers are Terrible!

I got married two weeks ago and ordered flowers from "Online Wholesale Flowers". What a nightmare!

Only 90% of the flowers arrived on the day requested and those that did arrive were either crushed, brown, moldy, or wilted. I ordered 10 different kinds of flowers and 80% of them were in terrible condition. Some you couldn't even touch without all the petals falling right off. I immediately called the company to tell them what had happened. They said it was normal for the flowers to appear in bad condition but that putting them in water for 24 hours would perk them up. That was NOT the case.

I asked if I should return them and they said to take photos. I asked about the 30 white roses that did not arrive and they were unable to tell me what had happened.

The next day I went to the local farmers market and bought $200 more worth of flowers. Much more healthy looking flowers, bigger bunches, and the same prices! They would have even let us pre-order. If I had only known.

2 days after the wedding I called up Online Wholesale Flowers to tell them that the white roses had arrived a day late, brown, and wilting. They claimed to have sent me an e-mail to let me know the day before they were going to arrive to tell me they were going to be late and if I didn't want them late that I should have replied. I NEVER received this e-mail. The only e-mail I recieved was from the shipping company the day they were going to arrive alerting me of the tracking number.

They also told me that the photos had to be dated and e-mailed to them within 24 hours. When I called the first time this was definitely not mentioned!

The flowers were 80% unusable (cost $350) so they offered me a $15 credit on my next purchase. I will NEVER order flowers from Online Whilesale Flowers again. They said that they hadn't gotten the photos so it was assumed I wanted them. I told them that I was going to contest the charge on my credit card and they be***e IRATE. They informed me that 80% of the time they get all the money that they are owed and that their policies protect them. (Read the policies--- you have no rights!). I still haven't finished the paperwork but I probably will be forced to pay. It seems like they have this problem all the time.

All in all it was a terrible experience. The last thing I wanted to deal with 2 days before and after my wedding. Their personnel were so rude and hard to get a hold of and I'm still not done dealing with it.

Try a farmers market, Costco, or the supermarket if you want cheap flowers. Sometimes it is criticial to see what you are going to purchase and to have real people there to deal with your concerns. Do NOT purchase from Online Wholesale Flowers!

Good luck on your big day! Kelly

I'm so sorry to hear what you experienced with online wholesale flowers, but
very thankful that you alerted all of us to this. Thank you

For dried or silk flowers, or ordering for a non-event (thought that counts, style), I think online's fine... but for fresh flowers when you want to be sure they look beautiful, I'd definately talk to a local florist or grower (most towns have a flower market or a few farms that sell georgeous flowers and plants).

A word of warning about the BBB; it's not all it's cracked up to be. Anyone can be a member, so it says nothing about quality or service. And the only complaints they have are what people have bothered them with. Small businesses generally aren't listed... and generally don't care if you complain about them to the BBB because it doesn't effect their business at all.

My daughter got married September 2004 - we used 2G Roses. I cannot praise this company enough. If you have any experience at all with floral design you absolutely should use them. You will save an incredible amount of money. We did 16 centerpieces (hurricane lamps with ivy and roses wrapped around base) 6 bridesmaids bouquets and 14 hanging vases on pews for about $500!!! I figured we saved about $1000 to $1500 if we had done the same through a florist. It was the one thing about the wedding that was a "crap shoot" and I was very anxious (so I ordered 2 test bunches at 2 different times prior to the wedding and they were gorgeous) and as it turned out - it was the one thing that really went off without a hitch!! 400 Vendela roses with fillers and ivy were delivered Thursday morning for Saturday afternoon wedding. A neighbor of ours who is very crafty did them for us. The customer service people at 2G were great - gave very detailed instructions, answered calls/e-mails immediately, etc. I would not hesitate to use them again or recommend them to anyone and everyone. I could e-mail you photos of centerpieces, bouquets if you would like. Good luck with your plans!! Patrice

Hi Jenn,

I just got married on June 11th, and used red and white gerbera daisies from Marisol Blooms. They were perfect. I had absolutely NO broken stems (except for the ones I broke myself) out of 240 flowers. They were beautiful, and as long as you are prepared to do a little work, they are fairly inepensive! Pricey shipping maybe, but for your flowers, it is worth it!!!
It's a little hard to see the flowers in the picture, but they were beautiful!

I've used marisol blooms and online wholesale flowers, but I havent' used any of the others places you mention above. Marisol has nice flower but they are super expensive in shipping. I didn't like online wholesale flower much. Some of the white roses are pretty bad, but they did refund me my money. I now use http://www.margaretaflowers.com/b2b/ because I can ask questions online on MSN. The price are great because it includes shipping. I did once receive white roses that were weak but I soaked them in a cold water overnight and they perked right up (white roses tend to be less strong then red). I've used them many times for several weddings and they have been very responsive. Hope this helps. Good luck.

I ordered through Marisol. They did not give me at all what I ordered and when I called them to ask why I had gotten what I had gotten, they said they reserved the right to make substitutions. The flowers were old too. I would not use them!!

I also had a terrible experience with online wholesale floweres. I ordered some trial asian lilies, and calla lilies and greenery. Some did not come in at all, mini callas were white instead of pink, asian lilies were dead! I left two messages for them but nobody is calling me back. Stay away from this company!

Has anyone ordered from www.rosesource.com? I already ordered from them for my wedding in October and was very pleased with the customer service, but I'm just curious if anyone has used them or heard of them. Thanks

I just read this listing and it convinced me to go with online wholesale flowers. I am going to have my wedding at a Sandals resort in Jamaica. They offer a bouquet, but I hear it is pretty bad (i.e. carnations).

Has anyone tried www.GrowersBox.com? Also, what kind of flowers would people suggest for a Jamaica wedding? I was thinking Stargazer Lillies or Orchids.

Thanks,

Allison

I have to re iterate what others said, do not order from online wholesale flowers. I did for a wedding I was decorating this past weekend and on the day of scheduled arrival we only recieved half of the flowers ordered, what we did receive was in horrid condition, and they are trying to refuse to refund the $295 for non-received flowers by hiding behind their policy. I have enough knowledge of contract law to be dangerous, so I think we are going to be able to get the money back, but it is a hassle.

I'm also in the process of filing a complaint with the Attorney General of Nevada.

Hi - I hope this input is not too old. I bought Marisol Blooms roses online in Massachusetts in March 2004. My niece in ALASKA bought in June 2004. Both of us were very happy. Yes, the roses look a little rough upon arrival - but 24 hours in water and a few outer petals pulled off - and my Virginia white ones were gorgeous, as were my nieces baby pink HUGE headed roses.
I priced out having simple, carnation only centerpieces for my reception from a local ( and fabulous) florists, and the cost of those was more than all 300 of my roses. INCLUDING shipping.
So I have to give thumbs up to Marisol.
Hope that helps

I used Marisol Blooms for my wedding in September of 2003. I ordered 500 mixed boquet roses and did all the arrangements and boquets myself. The roses were excellent quality. I was very worried about ordering them online and having them delivered only 2 days prior to the wedding. They were gorgeous and so much better than I had ever expected. Everyone raved about the beautiful roses. I would reccomend them to anyone.
