Hi! My name is Lacey and I am newly engaged. Yipee! I wanted to start this journal so I would have a record of the next year of wedding planning. And, it would be nice ot talk to other brides so we can share ideas, laugh, and vent.

So, a little about me. I am originally from lovely West Virginia but currently reside with my fiance in Pittsburgh, PA. I am about to turn 26 on April 6. Just recently I recieved my teaching certification to teach secondary education in social studies. Hopefully I land a job soon so I can put some money towards this dog and pony show. My fiance is a partner in an investment consulting firm. We have been together for almost 6 years now. We finally deicded on Februaury 25 to make it official so we set a wedding date of May 27, 2006. This allows plenty of time so that we can enjoy this once in a lifetime event. And, after all this planning, I promise, it will only be a one time in life event for me. This will be the first marriage for both of us. We don't have any children but we do have two little fur babies, our Scottish Terriers, Ruffles (12) and Eleanor (2).

So now for the good stuff, the wedding planning. We have a date. We have a reception site, The Rivers Club. It is the beautiful private athletic club in downtown Pittsbrugh with an amazing ballroom and dining room upstairs. we just booked it today so I'll have more detail on it in a later post. The best part is, over the next year I get a half priced membership so it won't cost me anymore than my regular gym now. Our gym now sucks but this place has personal trainers on staff, a heated indoor pool, steam rooms, whirlpools in each locker room, and indoor basketball courts. They also host carous social events like mother/daughter teas and golf outtings. So, it should be a fun year hanging out with the Pittsburgh elite. (Do you believe there is such a thing?)

Other than that, I have started my dress shopping. God bless my mother, she is dragging me to every bridal gown store in the tri state area so I will be 100% happy with my gown. In fact I am going gown shopping again tomorrow. I think I have decided that I like the princess look the best - fitted bodice, full tulle skirts, long veils, and tiaras. I think I found the one already but off to Youngstown I go to make mom happy. It isn't like I have anything better to do anyway.

So, I should go. The dogs are doing the "I need a walk or the rug is going to pay" dance. I look forward to hearing from you all soon.

Cheers,
Lacey
