online?
I just found this website: www.perfect-bridesmaid-dresses.com
and they quoted me a price of $165 on a dress that sells in the bridal salon by me for $255! And they have free shipping! This sounds too good to be true! So I am wondering if anyone else has bought from this site, or any other online discount sites? I am also wondering if anyone has had any problems with orders from places like this?

I'm purchasing my dresses from cybergown.com - the dresses in there are about 60% lower than retail. I have ordered dresses from here for my little sister for prom, and also for 3 weddings that I have coordinated. They're beautiful and very timely! They can do this because they don't have the overhead of having an actual shop with employees, utilities and showrooms - you're paying for the dress and a little profit instead of a dress, electric bills, salaries of employees, rent of the salon and the profit :)

I was just wondering, because if you go to the designers' websites, they all have these warnings about purchasing dresses online from "unauthorized" dealers saying that you don't know what you're going to get or when you're going to get it and have no guarantee or way of recourse if anything is unsatisfactory, etc. So I am nervous, because that is true, I mean how do I know who these people are, where they are located, if the merchandise will be as advertised, etc? But then part of me also thinks, the designers are probably just trying to protect their own profits. So I guess it's down to, do I take the chance? Hmm...

Anyway, I will check out cybergown too, since you said you have been happy with them. Thanks.

Contact the better business bureau - see if there are any complaints against them. You'll also want to make sure their site is covered by verisign or another company that guarantees transactions to be safe and reputable.

Oh, I just went to another site that I completely forgot about: discountbridalservice.com
I have a bridal book that has a three page review on this company and says it is very reputable. I just put in a request for a price quote. I'm keeping my fingers crossed! :)

Have you ever had to return anything to them? If so, how did they handle the return? I was looking at their website and found some dresses I like for the flower girls and the junior bridesmaids, however, I want to make sure the dresses are going to fit properly. This is also why I plan on buying the dresses in January 2006 so hopefully the girls won't grow to fast between January and March when the wedding takes place. Does that time frame give them enough time to get the dresses to me for the wedding?

I've never had to return anything - but here is their return policy -

Return Policy
Returns can be done within 5 days from the date of receipt. After 5 days there are no refunds or exchanges. In case of refund, 15% restock fees apply. Shipping charges are not refunded. In case of group orders with 3 pieces or more, no refunds, only exchanges for a different size. No exceptions

If you're buying dresses for kids, I suggest buying one size up and having them altered down - it really depends on growth spurts of kids - they're all different.

When I was a MOH a couple years ago, we ordered bridesmaid's dresses from cybergown.com too. I was thrilled with the dresses, prices, and service. My dress fit perfectly. For my wedding I'm letting all my girls pick their own unique dresses as long as they're black and floor length. But I did recommend cybergown to them all as a good place to look.

PLEASE CHECK THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU!!!!
Cybergown.com charged my credit card for three bridesmaid dresses that they never bothered to ship to me. ( I paid extra for 2 day shipping) When the dresses had not arrived ten days later I contacted Cybergown.com. I was told that because one of the sizes I ordered was not in stock they hadn't sent any of them. (I called to make sure the sizes I needed were in stock before I ordered the dresses-- like their website recomends and was told that they had all three sizes in stock) When I asked why I had not been notified that the dresses were not shipped the man did not have an answer. When I asked why they charged my credit card for the dresses knowing that they would not be sent he said " You can pick some other dresses and we might send them to you." I told him that I was apalled at their lack of communication and professionalism and I wanted my money refunded.
HE HUNG UP ON ME!!! I contacted the better business bureau and found out that Cybergown.com has an F rating and has had SEVERAL HUNDRED complaints filed similar to mine. I will never buy from anyone on the internet again without checking the Better Business Bureau first!!
CYBERGOWN.COM CAN NOT BE TRUSTED!!!

Wow. That's horrible! Did you get your money back from them? Did you ever get the correct dresses? I'm sorry that happened to you! I had a great experience with them. I talked to a lady named Kim there the 3 times I've ordered from them. Really sucks that there has to be someone like the person you dealt with! You're right though. Check with the BBB before doing business with anyone - online or in person. When I had dealt with them before, they had a B rating - which isn't bad at all for an online store. Sounds like some things have really changed around there. :(

Another store you might want to check out is www.discountbridals.com
They have zero complaints against them (the website says since Jan 2005, but I found out why - their BBB renewal got lost and lapsed at the end of 2004 - I had them look up the past 10 years and there was ONE complaint against them in 10 years. ) They also are a real store as well - they're in Minnesota. They've been in business since 1948 and are really very nice. I'm getting my wedding dress there - I got a quote from them for my dress, then got a quote from them on my bridesmaids dresses and they're extremely reasonable and very very nice. The lady even called me back and let me know that she would ship me swatches so I could match the navy in my dress and the bridesmaid dresses with everything else - she also wanted me to see that the navy in the 2 dresses really matched well. Very cool place.

I can't believe no one has brought this up yet:

If you're nervous about ordering a dress online that you've seen in a local bridal boutique, get the price for that dress online and march into the bridal boutique with the printout in hand. Ask for the manager, who's the person who has the real power to give you a discount, even if it's technically "against store policy." Tell the bridal boutique manager that you'd prefer to support their local business and that you'd love to recommend your future bride friends to them, but that you need them to match the online price. If they say no, thank them for their time and tell them that you'll be going online. I'd bet that in most cases, the manager will call out "Wait, maybe we CAN do that" as you turn around to leave. If they know that you're serious about getting a good price, they'll probably be willing to work it out for the price you want. Especially if you're planning to do a LOT of shopping there; ask them if they'd be more willing to make a deal if you were prepared to buy everything from them at online matched rates (your dress, the bridesmaids' dresses, the underwear, the veil, etc.)

This is excellent advice! I wonder if this will also work for flowers? I've looked into online whole-salers, but don't want to worry about damage during shipping.

I don't know about you guys, but i found this other site: www.bridalsassique.com and they've got some awesome prices!

My bridesmaids are all in college, so we're on a tight budget.

I haven't ordered yet, but i still have to give them my bridesmaids measurements (they recommend sizes for you)....the style that i am getting is #1954...it's only $69 each.

So far, I havent had any problems...there testimonials are really good too. It has pictures of their customers wearing the dresses that they ordered.

that whole "BUYER BEWARE" notice that's shown on designer websites is just a way for them to protect their profits!!

I JUST ordered my bridesmaids dresses from that www.bridalsassique.com website, and so far, no problems.
I got my tracking number tonight.

Of course, LAZARO and dessy bridesmaids companies are too pricey for me.

My sister in law ordered from that Cybergown site and they charged her credit card without shipping the dresses. It was on backorder, but they never told her when it was going to be shipped (after 2 months of waiting)

i don't know about you guys, but i LOVE bargains!! i got style #1002 in light blue for my bridesmaids for $76 each.

anyone try houseofbrides.com? I was thinking about them....

I found negative comments for this company at the Better Business Bureau and at Rip Off. com

I also am looking at possibly ordering my gown online also as the bridal shops around here give me the feeling that they don't want to deal with me because I want lavender, or any shade of purple in my dress.

I was in tears on Saturday just looking. I am also leary of trying tobuy my gown online. So if anyone has had luck with a company please post. I am checking those already listed.

Thanks

My girls dresses are coming from www.anythingbridal.com ... They have been so patient and caring with me and answer my emails within a night or two.... They are jasmine b2 gowns that are at local salons for 170 and anything bridal sells them for 115, and 125. i have 6 girls and am using 3 dresses with a girl in pink and a girl in honey dew for each style and they have answered all my questions through email They are actually local to me so the girls have the option of going there to get sized if they want .. but sell nationally, and to honest i have heard good things and they have been so helpful that i have done everything mostly by email and some phone.... today they sent me seperate order forms for each and sizing charts and a bunch of stuff through email.... its been very pleasant and doesn't make me nervous

I recently bought my wedding gown online and I had an excellent experience. I sent them my measurements, not my standard size, and they shipped my dress in about 2 weeks. They claim all the dresses are made tailored to the measurements and the dress fits wonderfully. Now lets hope it still fits a year from now! My dress was from a different site, and I actually found them on ebay. But I would say if you found the dresses you want online go for it!
