I am an Army Wife to be of a 1 CAV Sergeant. My fiancee, Jon, is currently deployed, was stationed in Baghdad. He is almost done, and currently waiting in Kuwait to come home. He should be home March 15th!
We are getting married March 17th. I am so excited!
I am Marianke, 23 years old, moved to the USA a year ago. I am originally from the Netherlands. I met Jon through ChristianPenpals.com when he sent me an email, May 24th 2004, after reading my profile, and for the first three months, we got to know eachother through email, chat, web*** and phonecalls. Finally, after 3 months, when Jon in a sudden moment, signed off with an "I love you" (leaving me all startled) - I knew he was the one. He asked me to marry him 2 weeks later, in front of the web***, over there in Baghdad (now there's something to tell your grandchildren). We met during his RnR in September, and had the best 11 days together! I am glad to know that I was the one keeping him sane in that hell hole.

We decided to do a small wedding March 17th. With a few friends there, in the courthouse, and a blessing by the Chaplain...I will be in my wedding dress and Jon will be in his dress up uniform (you know, for the Army it is the nice green uniform...I included that picture in here, I also put our engagement picture in here).
We are having a bigger (church) wedding in the summer in Jon's birth state South Dakota, with his family ; and my parents, dad's wife, by younger brother and stepbrother are coming over!

We'll be married in 3 weeks! But first I have got to focus on Jon's homecoming! I can't wait to be in his arms again! I haven't seen him in 6 months!

Congratulations! I am so happy to hear that a US soldier found love while at war... What a wonderful story that will be to tell your children!

We really appreciate those fighting in Iraq and risking their lives in the name of freedom. Your fiance is in my prayers and we thank him for his service... We also appreciate people like you who are left at home worrying about those they love.... Thank you for your sacrifices!

Congrats again, and best wishes to both of you!

Thanks so much all! Indeed it takes someone special to be a military wife. I'm anxious to see what life will bring. But so far I've done pretty darn good being part of his military life! :D
