okay, so far for our music we are thinking this:
first dance-'waste' by phish
BP first dance-'stand by me'-still not sure on this-suggestions welcome
Groomsmen entrance-'too sexy' by right said fred
Bridesmaid entrance-'pretty woman' or 'milkshake'
bride/groom entrance-'i believe in a thing called love'
garter toss-'push it'
bouquet toss-'girls just wanna have fun'
when the guy puts the garter on the girl-'lets get it on'-not too sure on this, or if we will even do this.
cake cutting-'sugar, sugar' or 'pour some sugar on me'-cant decide-help!!!
last dance-'closing time'
recessional(ceremony)-'this will be'
sand ceremony-'circle in the sand'
whats it called when the bride is coming down the aisle?-trumpet volutnary
and we arent sure for when the BP comes down the aisle, and also the music played before the ceremony. when else is there sposed to be music? help please, and also would like opinions on the above-listed!! thank you so much!
oh yeah, for the father/daughter and mother/son dance, we are having the parents choose the song.

We are planning on "Sugar, Sugar" also! I can't stand to hear "The Bride Cuts the Cake" again! Our first dance is "Fly Me to the Moon" (Frank Sinatra) and our last dance is Dean Martin's version of "The Way You Look Tonight". We started taking Lindy Hop dance lessons to prepare for our first dance and we are so hooked we will probably continue lessons after the wedding. We are even planning on going to a 2 day dance workshop!

I think the 'lets get it on' choice is great. Go with it! People will laugh and it's perfect for the moment. Have fun!

Time in a Bottle is a very special song for my honey and I. Where do you think it would be appropriate to use? The songs meaning is wonderful, but it doesn't sound like a love song. It kind of sounds sad or something, so I would love ideas of where to use it.

If the song is special to both of you then maybe you can use it as your first dance. I listened to the song online and I think that might be the most appropriate. I'm like you it's a wonderful song but I don't know if I would actually use it for the wedding ceremony. Usually couples will pick a favorite song of theirs for the first dance. I am trying to figure out why the song was written and what exactly Jim Croce was trying to say with the song. All of Jim Croce's songs have a special meaning to him so I think it would be interesting to find this out. Once I figure this out I will definately let you know.
After doing some searching for the reason behind Jim Croce's "Time in a Bottle" I find he wrote the song for his newborn son AJ. I would assume then that the message Jim Croce was trying to get through in his song was that there is always time and you can save it in a bottle. He obviously loved his son AJ and wanted AJ to know just how much he loved him. That's about all I can come up with. This song was on his album with other love songs as well as the album "Time in a Bottle."
As strange as it may seem this is a love song and I did find one place where the song was placed in a wedding to be played right before the exchange of wedding vows. ;) I hope this helps you some and I found out a lot of neat information about Jim Croce doing the search. It was long but interesting.

Wow thanks everybody for your work! Our first dance will be to "Fly me to the Moon" by Frank Sinatra, but we will figure somewhere for the song. We could just have the DJ play it, so we can dance to it. It doesn't need a special spot I guess.
