OK ladies I sort of have a problem concerning make up. I am allergic to a lot of the different manufactures of make up and a lot of times if I apply any sort of make up I break out. For this very reason I do not wear make up at all. My problem is that I want to look nice for the wedding pictures but am afraid that if I apply any make up that I will start breaking out and reacting to it before the big day is over. What should I do? Is there any make up that is good for very sensitive skin? If so, what is the name of it? Some of the brands of make up I have tried are: Avon, Mary Kay, Revlon, Cover Girl, Maybelline, and Almay. Because I do not usually wear make up I do not want to go broke trying to find a make up that I am not allergic to just for my wedding. I asked a Mary Kay representative to do a "facial" so that I can try on some of the different colors and types of make up but when she saw how fast I reacted to make up she did not want to continue.

Very odd - I'm allergic to everything BUT Mary Kay. A friend of mine is 100% organic (uses only ALL Natural products from clothes to makeup to even hairspray - let me see if I can find something from her - I know she's ultra sensitive to everything and pretty much anything "processed" makes her break out - but I know she found a makeup that doesn't)

Okay - I emailed my friend and she responded right away -

Here is the website she gets her makeup from
Its not too badly priced either. She said its absolutely amazing - even washing her face with soap makes her break out and this stuff doesn't.
I hope it works for you!

Bare Minerals! It's sold on QVC.com and it's so nice and creamy...but it's a powder and doesn't clog your pores...it's made of minerals that are good for your skin <--That's what sold me on it! Check it out! It covers so well!

My mother actually uses that - she doesn't have skin issues - just a QVC addiction - but it does seem really nice - I haven't tried it :)

I have bought stuff from QVC as well. However, I tend to not watch it except during the holidays when they have the Santa's Toy Shop. I find great gifts on there for all of the kids (daughters, nieces, nephews, etc.).

Oh I love the toy shop for the kids! I wish someone would put the block on me!!! I try to control myself...make up and perfume get me every time! I feel like the walking advertisement for them! They have always made me happy...never a return! :D

Reecey,

I am so glad you told me about this line of makeup and such. I was looking at the online store and found out one of the stores here in the Prescott area sales the eccobella line. As soon as I am feeling better I am going to go check it out and buy some to try. I don't want to go hog wild until I know if I can wear this product.

Thanks alot!!

i wanted to let all you ladies know that for my wedding i had my mary kay consultant come over and help pick some colors for myself and my bridal party. she also did make-up for my engagement pictures and everything. they really can by life-savers and if you check out this website, there are several tips for makeup application and colors for brides.

MAC cosmetics is also really great. A friend of mine has extremely sensitive skin and cannot use certain eyeshadows, however with MAC she has no problem.

Their eyeshadow is a bit pricey, but it's worth every penny. It doesn't smudge or fade at all for a looonnnng time. They also have every color imaginable. Go into MAC and talk to a consultant. She could tell ya more about their products. Most MAC consultants will do scheduled make up appointments for you too. So you can get your make up done there for the big day :D

I'm a total MAC girl  I refuse to wear any other kind of make up. Shoulda seen the look on my FH's face when I racked up a $200 bill there. hehehe.

HAHA... my FH is a driver for UPS and he has a woman like that on his route! lol

As for the make-up, have you tried Neutrogena stuff? I tend to break out from make-up, so I wear very, very little, but I love Neutrogena.

There is also a make-up brand that you can get from Ulta that claims to be all natural mineral based. I'll see if I can find out what it's called. You might be able to find it on their website too...www.ulta.com (I think).

I really appreciate all of your posts giving me different named brands for make up which I have not heard of. I am going to look into several of the different ones mentioned and hopefully find one which works.

a few more:

Stilla
Urban Decay
Rebel
estee lauder (expensive, but yet another product that is WORTH the money spent. i recommend their blush. it's really light feeling on your skin and highlights it perfectly)
