My wedding is coming up - April 30th. I have my cake picked out but in order to keep costs down - we'll be placing the flowering on the cake once it is delivered. Tulips are the only flowers I'm using throughout the wedding-but I've never seem a picture of a cake decorated using tulips. Has anyone experienced this delima......? Do I only use the petals- how would I use the whole flower?
Thanks,
Brooke

Talk to the person making your cake(if you havent already)...Im sure they will be able to help with that.

I just ordered my flowers for my cake top (I found this more reasonable than high priced cake toppers)... To do the topper my florist is cutting the stems very short! Just make a bouquet tie with florist wire and trim short ... include some type of filler like baby's breath or green fern...a tulle ruffle or ribbon. Then just stick the short stem onto the cake! Hope I helped! :)

One thing you might want to do too, is to call around either to your cake baker or the florist to make sure that you can use Tulips. I know that some flowers cannot be put on cake because they are, I dont' want to say poisonious, but can cause extreme digestive discomfort if their sap or petals touch the parts of the cake that people are going to eat. I know my FMIL, who makes wedding cakes, has a list of flowers that are ok to be used on cakes so that she doesn't use ones that could be bad for people.

Hi,

I am having the same problem,i do have a design in mind, however this is shown only in lillies.....i spoke to the designer and she said that sugarcraft tulips are really beautiful. What does anyone else think? I really don't want to pay a fortune for a cake that really doesn't have a great effect.Does anyone know where there is some photo's of any cakes with tulips?
Thanks
Michelle

Actually I have seen a cake that has tulips on it. But I am pretty new to this site and don't know how to go about posting a pic up on here so I will go find the site I got the pic from right now and post it as soon as I find it.

Okay, check theknot.com cake gallery. They have pics of cakes with tulips. There are cake bios at http://bios.magnificentbliss.com/specialty/ that have pics of tulip cakes as well. Just do a search for wedding cakes with tulips and you should find some pics. Hope this helps.
