As of today, my FH, Gene, and I have 208 days to go, I can't wait! I'm so excited.

We decided in August 2004 that we were going to get married, and we started planning almost immediately. He had been trying to 'catch' me for a year, and when I finally gave in to fate and agreed to marry him, he wanted to put a ring on my finger right away. And so the search began.

Within a month, I had selected a couple of rings that I really liked, and left the rest to him. Gene was so excited, he couldn't keep a secret and as soon as he ordered my ring, he had to tell me. On October 30th, he took me to dinner and afterwards we went for a walk. During our walk is when Gene made it official and put a gorgeous 3 stone diamond and platinum ring on my finger.

Since then, we have been researching and making plans. He has been a huge help and extremely supportive. We recently settled on a location for the wedding and reception and have chosen the menu. We are now looking for an officiant, florist and a bakery.

I know the feeling. My FH propose to me christmas 2003, then that following feb. I found out I had a brain tumor, and needed surgery to have it removed. Well I am doing well and wedding plans are back on... I can't wait till April 2. Just 2 months away. I still have so much to do. :rolleyes:

Som,

I'm glad that you were able to find enough for your centerpieces. Might I suggest to get a few extras just in case you find something else that you can decorate with them. This is of course if you can find anymore.

I know I am making a few extra centerpieces just in case I decide to decorate something else. I will already have them made and they won't be a last minute thing.

Good luck!

I'm finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel... :) We hired our photographer yesterday!!!! YAY! And I just made appointments to meet with a baker to taste cakes and all of the goodies. I also just made an appointment to meet with a travel agent for our Honeymoon registry and honeymoon. We have a meeting with our DJ on Sunday. We still need an officiant, which I think I have narrowed down, and possibly a florist since we aren't having any luck with silks. But overall, I think we're almost done with the major stuff. Once I'm done with all of this, I can spend the next 5-6 months ironing out the small stuff.

Congrats! sounds like its all falling together! Its great to get this stuff done, that way you don't have to leave "last minute details" to the very last minute! :)

It's an exciting feeling to be counting the days to the uniting our two souls into one. We have 74 days left.

I've got 48 days left and counting but unlike you lady's my wedding and my reception are on two different days; so I have to plan for two different occasions. My wedding in Maui is May 2, 2005 and my reception is July 16, 2005. :D

I can understand that. My wedding is April 2, 2005 and my reception is April 30, 2005. We have to worry multiple times now. Oh well...it has been really fun. I think I am done for sure with the wedding and almost have everything for the reception. Good luck ladies!!

We've just ordered our invitations and I also found some really nice candy wrappers for favors. My mom found them actually...on ebay for $10, including shipping. She suggested them, and I didn't really want them at first. We'd already bought mini champagne flutes for mints, and then she wanted match books, and now the candy. I told her she was going overboard, but she's having fun. We finally settled on the wrappers and no matches.

We've been working on our list of music and I'm working up a list of what's left and what I want to delegate. Plus we still have the honeymoon to organize. I'm so glad we're almost done, but we still have 5 months and it seems so close yet sooooo far away...

Good luck SOM. It's almost here you have finally made it past the half way mark. LOL I'm sure you will have a wonderful wedding day and your guests will be impressed with all of your decisions. I still have a little under a year to go and I have been starting to stress out cause things are not going the way I initially had them planned. It will all work out though.

It looks like we are again in the same boat :)

I'm having my wedding May 2, 2005 and my reception July 16, 2005. :D
As soon as we are done with one we have another but in you case you have less time in between your wedding and your reception. I couldn't get the hall that I wanted any sooner so I got it for July (more time to save money). :D

I still cannot decide how I want to decorate the reception site. There are some 'flaws' I'd like to hide, but i'm not really sure how. Especially without going nuts and blowing a ton of money.

We're also still working on the accomodations for out-of-towners and trying to figure out what we'll do for our honeymoon. I know we have almost 4 months, but I'm starting to get a little panicky. :eek:
My band is gold and my fiance's will be platinum. That is what he wanted, and I wanted him to have what he wanted even though his band is 10x the price of mine... My engagement ring makes up for it though! I just wanted him to be happy.

Maybe I can help a little... What are the flaws in the hall you want to hide? Are they on the walls? Do you have a theme? I have heard of doing this:
Instead of having a placecard table, have a wall with the placecards attached (hang some paper on the wall and **** the cards to it). You can have fun with different designs. Or you could have comment cards on this paper and make a collage that you and your FH can frame after the wedding... People can write messages to you on the board or you can use a matting or photo.

For out-of-towners, we went to a few hotels to ask about discounted rates and hotel blocks. We were able to get a discounted rate at the Marriott (a 4 star hotel) for $89.99 a night! That is pretty good we thought and the cheapest rate in the area for a nice hotel. We sent maps out and the discount cards in our invites. Anyone that didn't want to stay at that hotel had the map so they were easily able to find a hotel close to that one to use. We just didn't want to list the Motel 8 as our hotel!!! lol I hope that helps a little...

I posted about it in the 'themes' section... Click Me (http://forums.weddingsolutions.com/showthread.php?t=2505)

Well, our problem is, we don't know how many people are coming in from out of town, and all of the hotels we've checked with want a guarantee of X number of rooms to be booked. We found a good rate at a hotel that's very close to our house and the wedding/reception, but they we have to sign a contract guaranteeing 10 rooms will be booked. I know this is normal, but I have no clue how many rooms. And if we guarantee 10 rooms and only 8 rooms get booked, then they'll charge extra for the 8 rooms. And I'd hate to tell people the price only to have the hotel charge more at the last minute.

How much extra will the hotel be charging? What if you told your guests it would be the higher rate? That way instead of being shocked by the higher rate, they can be surprised by the lower rate.

From the post in your theme section, it sounded like you had some really good ideas for the decorations. If you can, you may want to see about getting the collumns repainted too. That would help with black marks and make dents/dings less noticeable.

As for hotels, I know what you mean. We saw that at all the hotels except this one. They didn't require us to sign a contract for a certain # of reservations. It was just a discount card good Thursday - Sunday. The only thing different was that there would not be a hotel block reserved under our names so guests could not call for info on our wedding, etc. I would think you should be able to find a hotel that would let you do something like this. Try the big chain hotels such as Marriott, Ramada, etc.

OK, well, we've decided that we are going to Hawaii for our honeymoon afterall. We wanted to go, but the flights I was finding 6 months ago were so expensive, we decided against it. But now, we've found more reasonable rates, so we've changed our plans. And I'm excited. I love to be outdoors and we'll get to go hiking and lay on the beach and bike around the island and go scuba diving. That part is going to be awesome. This past weekend, we stopped in at a dive shop to inquire about classes, and decided to sign up. So next weekend, we will go for our certification! This is something we've both wanted to do, so this is our wedding gift to one another. Whoo-hoo! We bought the equipment we need for the class, including the mask and snorkel, and we spent the whole weekend in the pool practicing some of the basic stuff. And because we live on the gulf of mexico, there are dive trips all of the time, so it'll be something we can enjoy long after the wedding!
My fiance and I really wanted to do that but couldn't afford it. I've heard that they teach you what you need to know on the dive trips in Hawaii... I wish we would have had time and money to learn it before but oh, well. Still planning on going and maybe when we get back we'll get certified! Congrats on choosing a location! I can't wait to see Hawaii! :)

I went and got a haircut last night and talked to the stylist about how I want my hair for the wedding. Since I have my gown fitting on June 20th, I asked her about coming in for my hair trial that day. I'm also going to get my make up done too, so when I go for my fitting, I will be able to see what it's all going to look like.

Whenever I plan stuff like this, I get excited, but I also get a little panicked, because I know that I have to micromanage to make appointments flow and all of that. Just this afternoon, I was telling my FH about the trial, and then it dawned on me that on the day of the wedding, I need to make appointments for hair, makeup, etc and make sure that I'm at the country club in time for the before-pictures and still have enough time for last minute things I need to do to get ready. Plus on that day, my mom and I are going to the country club around 8 to start decorating, and when I sat and figured it out, we'll only have about 4 hours to decorate. Then I started to worry that 4 hours won't be enough, which I KNOW it will be. I'm a detail oriented sort of person, and I can set a schedule like no other, but this is my big day and I'm starting to freak out a little! (We need a smilie pulling it's hair out!)

Relax....while you're off doing your day full of appointments before the ceremony, your mom will still have a couple of hours to finish the decorations. I'm sure you can come up with a few more people to lend a hand as well. Things will work out :)

esp1087
05-10-2005, 05:51 PM
Yes it will all work out. I like your idea of the trial and dress fitting... Wish I would have thought of that!

Remember that a few of the appointments you can do the day before. I plan on getting my nails done, a pedicure, eyebrows done, and my hair trimmed the day before... That takes a little pressure off... I decided to do my make-up myself, and I'll only need to worry about my hair appointment the morning of the wedding. :)

I'd get the eyebrows done a 2-3 days before - I've seen redness left over from waxing or plucking. I'm planning mine for 3 days before.

I don't get mine waxed or plucked... She does it with a piece of thread similar to plucking but it doesn't hurt as much and the redness only lasts an hour or two... No risk of getting burned either! I got burned one time when I got my eyebrows waxed so be careful!

ohhhhh....I've seen that...I wonder if there's anywhere around here that does that. I get mine waxed and its really not painful - the lady that does them is the wife of the gentleman that does my nails (must...have...regular...manicures....haha :) anyway - she's very gentle and has never burned me. A friend of mine does it from her house. She only charges me $5 to do it too. She works at a salon, but the salon doesn't like her doing eyebrows there because they pay someone to do waxing... lol They could make money letting her do eyebrows too. It is silly... :)

now honestly, i would be calling him back asking tons of questions. my first wedding 6 weeks before the day we had to find another hall, because our sight burnt down 3 prior, before us calling and noone called us, because well, there plan books were dust. so basically 9 weeks b4 our wedding it burnt down and noone contacted us. we just happen to call and check on things

I would call around to other salons, tell them the experience you had and let them know you're kindof gunshy because you're spending so much money for someone to half-ass these things. See if they'll let you come in for a free consultation. Check out high-end department store makeup counters and get a free makeover to see what you like for your makeup then you can direct the makeup person on how to do your makeup, or do it yourself. You might even convince the girl at the makeup counter to come do your makeup for a small fee for the wedding. The other option might be to check out a cosmetology school - let them practice on you before the wedding - you're bound to find something you like and even if they do charge you, it'll be a minimum fee- then have the person that knocks your socks off do you up for the wedding day :) It sucks that you already sunk 100 bucks into the whole ordeal, I can't believe that they charged you for a consultation. My stylist is doing my consultation for free - she's a master stylist though and I've sent a lot of business her way - she's my normal stylist and is amazing. There are all kinds of people out there that will work out a deal for you. Sometimes you just have to hunt them down :)

When I was a MOH we went to the Clinique counter at a dept store and had them do a makeover for free (like reecy suggested). She showed us how to do everything and what to keep in mind for pics. I spent about $100 that day, but that loaded me up with all the make up and some cleansers and lotions, etc. At the time, I thought it was a lot of money (it was several years ago, so I wasn't making as much money). But when you take into consideration you have that make up to use long after the wedding, it isn't so bad.

I've thought about that too, but I hate doing that and not buying something. And I've never liked my makeup when I had it done at a department store. But then again, I was always just doing it with friends and it was for fun. I guess I'll try to call or visit a few to see what they have to say.

Another problem I have is that my skin produces enough oil to keep this country going for years to come! In just over an hour yesterday, my face looked like an oil slick. Does anyone know of any products that are good for for eliminating shine? Toner or something?

My skin gets like that for about a week out of every month -so I just wash it every night with witchazel and then use a cotton ball and rubbing alcohol all over my face. In the morning I do the same with the alcohol and then use a good moisturizer before applying my makeup.

OK, I had a melt-down this weekend. I was already kinda touchy after an icky week, and one of Gene's brothers calls to say that he and the other brother are at Men's Warehouse to pick out their suits and they wanted to know what tie & shirt to get. Well, we hadn't chosen either the tie or shirt yet. So I told him that I didn't know. So he's like, well, I'll let them pick something. So I said no because they don't know what we have and they might end up with something that looks awful. So he tells them to forget about the tie for now and to just get an ivory shirt. Well, when we were at Men's Warehouse to pick an ivory shirt, they had so many variations that I decided I needed a color sample to be sure I could match the shirts to my dress. So I tell him they can't buy thier shirts yet either. Now he's completely confused and says "Does it really matter?', and that was it. I started crying my eyes out because all of the sudden, I felt so lost and felt like I wasn't getting anything done that I needed to do. I've got 2 months left and I'm really starting to worry that I'm not going to get it all done.

Men's Wearhouse does a fantastic job. Once you've decided on the wedding parties shirts and ties they will suggest what is appropriate for the fathers and all the adjustments can be made on the computer within minutes.
You have plenty of time, remember, BREATHE! :)

Wow! The countdown begins :) I miss that feeling. Haha.. all the stess melts any pounds that you are worried about right off. It's fantastic.

That is so wonderful that people are already RSVPing. Early & Prompt RSVPs are the best. Did you create a file for them?

I adore the idea of the sweetheart table. I desperately wanted one, but you kinda give up a few things when you go destination. Anyways, back to your table. An all white sweetheart table is the most common here in VA. I used to work at a few reputable country clubs & resorts where all white linens were used more often because they are so classic. Classic crisp white linens are divine! You'll love it. I'm sure if you asked they could set one up for you to see. That or you could visit other girls journals to sneak a peak at what it would look like. It is beautiful.

PS- don't forget to set a small amount of time each day just for yourself. It will help keep yourself calm and collected leading up to the wedding. Even if it is as simple as taking a coffee break at a local bookstore or park. Just a few minutes and you will feel great! Do it in the middle of errand running and you will notice a tremendous difference. Just stop and as previously posted, breathe. Listen to the birds, feel the warm sunshine and breeze and just breathe.

Take a digital ***era. I'd love to see how your test columns come out. It sounds beautiful. Maybe you could use the lights with battery packs under the tulle if there aren't outlets available...sure, you'll spend a lot on batteries, but it will look amazing!

Just got back from a lunch pow-wow with Mom. We were discussing how to decorate the tables (cake, gift, etc) since I wasn't planning to make extra centerpieces for those.

I think the cake table will just have a few votives scattered around. There doesn't need to be a lot there, so the stuff doesn't get in the way of the servers (or us) when it comes time to cut the cake.

As for the hors d'ouerves table, I think I'll lay a few of the callas on the table. Think votives would be ok here? Maybe if we used them closer toward the middle or back of the table so no one burns themselves as they get their food.

I wasn't going to decorate the gift table much. We are using the top section of a huge birdcage that my mom has (it's just decoration...so no bird germs!) for cards. I figure I'd lay some flowers around the base of it, but I don't think it should need much else.

We've settled on the tulle on the columns, thanks to the idea I 'stole' from Kelly1Mickey (I think). My mom loved the idea. We're going over to the country club saturday morning to do a test on 2 of the columns. Plus we plan to stake out all electrical outlets to see if there is ANY possible way we can do the lights behind the tulle. I hate to say it, but I really have my heart set on being able to use the lights and I'm so scared we won't be able to. :eek:

As for the tables, we are renting blue table skirts, and the country club is going to put out white square table skirts, which we will lay over the blue. This way we don't have to worry about the rentals getting dirty and they white will be a nice contrast with the centerpieces of orange callas and the blue flowers (I still don't know what it's called!) we picked. The square vases will have clear 'ice' chunks in them, and we've toyed with the idea of putting blue-colored water in the vases. Around the vases will be 4 square votive holders with ivory candles.

If the lights end up not being an option what do you think about this...?

Take fishing line and string a silk rose petal on it every 6 inches or so and tie a little knot to hold the petal in place. Make several that are the same height as your columns and then let them hang over the tulle (or maybe under the tulle?) I don't know how that would look, but it is a thought...

Wow, that's really unnerving. I would be so angry and upset. It doesn't sound like they planned well for the weddings that they booked. I would start looking around for other locations while you wait on the manager to get back into town then see what he/she has to say. And it better be good! I can't believe that they didn't notify you of the construction...errr, destruction...at the country club. I hope this works out somehow.

I can remember you mentioning in other posts that they were doing some work, but I can't believe they are tearing up the whole golf course! When does the manager get back form vacation so that you can get this straightened out? OMG! I would be furious! :mad: As if you don't have enough to worry about with the wedding being right around the corner?!

Just keep in mind, that since the course is completely shut down, they will be very anxious to get the work done to get back to making money. The construction crew is most likely feeling pressure from the course owner and the owner may even be enticing the crew with a bonus if they finish on schedule. All of this works in your favor.

I hope you're right. I knew (as I mentioned in previous posts) that they were changing the interior. But I had no idea they were doing th golf course. Mom keeps saying that it'll be even prettier when they are done, but my optimism is failing me somewhat. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. And I just found out that the manager will be back tomorrow, so I'm hoping I can get ahold of him (you know how it is when you return from vacation) and get some answers.

I'll be sending good vibes your way!!!!!

I am sooo mad right now. Mom and I went to the country club saturday to play with the decorations a little, so we could make sure our ideas would actually translate. We pull into the parking lot and there are truckloads of dirt in the lot...half of the lot is blocked off. I'm a little worried, but OK, I can deal with this. We go in the front entrance, and mom's ooh-ing over the new tile in the foyer. I turn toward the dining room and outside (the whole dining room is surrounded by windows overlooking a golf course) the first thing I notice is that most of the golf course is gone!!! My eyes about fell out of my head. All I could say was OMG. They have the 9 holes closest to the patio (where I am supposed to be getting married!!!) are covered in dirt and workers riding around on Caterpillars. There is no grass. The trees are gone. The golf cart path that runs in front of the patio is gone. Mom kept trying to assure me that it won't look like this come the end of Aug, but I'm skeptical. We found out that they are shutting down the whole golf course so they can get this work done, but they are already 2 weeks behind. And when they are done, will it just be dirt, or will they lay sod down? Or spray that bright green grass seed stuff down to let it seed? If they do anything except sod, I'll have a hideous backdrop for my ceremony and I won't have anywhere pretty to take pictures. I'm trying soooooo hard to remain calm, but I can't even get any answers about this mess b/c the manager is on vacation. I can't believe they wouldn't have told me about this when I booked there. They had to know that this was planned before I booked. And I did also find out that other weddings have been cancelled b/c of this too.

Take a deep breath, hon. Where I live, there are more golf courses than anything else - they're constantly being redone, etc. I have NEVER seen it take very long, nor have I ever seen them use anything but sod to relandscape. I think you'll be fine. I would definitely be bombarding the manager with questions as soon as you can - I would think a place like that would be in a hurry - not to mention, you weren't informed of any of this when you booked the venue. So either they'll fix it, or I say you fiight to get it for free :P

OK, so the manager called me this morning and I ask him about the golf course, and he kinda sounds like, 'yeah, so what's the problem?'... he didn't say that, but that was the feeling I got from him. So I explained that I was very concerned b/c that golf course is supposed to be my backdrop for the ceremony and the pics and ask him point blank if it'll be back to normal. He says that they've seeded the area surrounding the patio, but he's not sure if there will actually be any grass. :eek: But he's like, 'oh, well why don't you stop by this week and I'll show you around and show you what is going on. Ummmm...duh...I can SEE what is going on! I'm not happy, but what can I do? At least right now anyways? I guess I'll just have to keep an eye on it and hopefully it will start looking better. And I'll go up there with Mom this weekend, because I know she can be more intimidating than I can at times and I'm trying not to be the 'Bridezilla', so I'll let her be the bad guy with the wedding stuff.

good idea! I would definitely get a straight answer out of this guy! And if its NOT how its supposed to be, he better be knocking a HELL of a lot off the price! That's just not cool! I honestly haven't ever seen any golf course done without sod.

I would start making notes whenever you talk to any of these folks on the phone. And when you go see the manager with your mom, get his 'promises' or 'guarantees' in writing. When you first toured the property, did they give you a packet of info that "sold" the location? Meaning, do you have any advertisements, etc. that make it clear that they use the beauty of the golf course as a selling point to book weddings? I know that one of the selling points for my location is their beautiful gardens. An attorney has already told me that if they were planning on doing any work that would compromise the beauty of the gardens, and they knew these plans when the boked me, then I would have a case against them.(this isn't the case, it was just a hypothetical conversation)

I would also reread your contract with them. There might be something in there that would protect you the same way the advertisement would. Even though I have read my contract for mt location a hundred times, I always seem to find something new or something that applies to me that didn't apply before.

There's nothing in the contract about the gold course. But I do believe that the golf course is a point they use in their advertisements, although I don't recall there being anything in the info they gave me when I first started 'shopping' for a site. But the manager did walk us around the grounds immediately outside of the patio and even offered the suggestion that we could hold the ceremony directly on the 10th tee, which is right between the patio and a lake. He said it was frequently used for that. Plus, he is more than aware of the fact that we wanted the patio for the ceremony specifically for the view of the golf course and the lake and the beautiful sunsets behind the lake.

Either way, I guess I'll find out more this weekend. We'll probably go over there saturday morning...

No, its not directly in the contract, but its implied. Not to mention, he DID show it to you. You're renting the patio and the view as well.

I was thinking they might have included some rules in regards to the golf course in the contract. (I know that my contract includes rules about the gardens) If that was in there, that would also imply an "intent" to view or use the golf course.

Well, now Mom's worried too. 5 weeks ain't squat to allow for enough grass to grow. Is it??? I know we will never find someplace on such short notice in the same price range if we opt out of the country club. So I'm telling myself that we will make the best of it, even if it means that I have to have our pictures done on the practice putting green with the surrounding condos in the background. I just don't see any other option. But you'd better believe that we'll be asking for a discount if we end up doing that.

Anyways, I'm looking at the calendar for the next 5 weeks. I've got to start prodding my guests to get in their RSVP's, as they only have 2 more weeks. I've got my schedules for the day before and the day of almost done. I've got my hair appointment for highlights set for 3 weeks before. Linens are rented. Mom and I are making centerpieces this weekend. I'm just trying to keep busy so I don't worry too much.

I think in 5 weeks you will have more grass than you might expect. I have a feeling everything is going to work out perfectly!

Remember the issue I was having with the bakery? I went in to see them after I couldn't get any answers on the phone or via email, and met with someone I'd not seen there before. The other woman I booked with wasn't there, so I dealt with this new one. She had no record of the fact that we'd paid in full for the cake. The other woman's notes sucked, so the new one had no clue what we wanted. I was pretty concerned. So I wrote down all of the information (flavors, colors, etc) and noted whether I'd given them samples or pictures. Then I drew the basic shape of the cake (I cheated and found a pic of a square cake online and traced the outline) and then made notes on it as to where they are supposed to put flowers and all. Then I faxed it to them yesterday, asking them to let me know if any of my info didn't match theirs. At first, I thought that maybe that was going too far, but then decided that if they couldn't take accurate notes, then I'd better do something. We spent $500 on the cake and I'd like to get what I actually ordered.

Oh, and when I called them to get the fax #, they told me they found the receipt for the payment on the cake. Not that I was worried...we paid with a credit card, so we knew we could prove it was paid for.

And I'm going tonight to pick up my dress! I'm so excited! YAY!

It shocks me how these vendors that charge SO MUCH for their prices can get away with giving inferior service. Sounds like you handled it really well (probably better than most). I can just see some of the girls from Bridezillas in that situation.

Ran errands all weekend with Mom. Got almost everything we need for the decorations and ceremony. I just need a nice vase for our sand ceremony and I have to order the orange sand online since Michaels and JoAnns don't carry that color.

We also ran by the country club to take a peek. My co-worker who told me that the grass was growing and the palm trees were in failed to mention that they only seeded a tiny portion of the course and that the palm trees are completely bald, as the fronds were cut off prior to transporting them. The grass that is there does look nice, but otherwise, it's still all dirt. We ran into the manager while we were looking around and he assured us that the golf course would be done, as they were almost finished and that they've decided to sod the rest instead of seeding since they are cutting it so close. He also said that the golf path will be done (they tore up the old one), which I'm glad for as were were going to have the photographer take pics of us walking together down the path.

We stopped by David's Bridal to drop off mom's shoes for dying and asked about them replacing my gown if it wasn't cleaned properly or damaged by Thursday, and they said they'd replace it. I'm a bit concerned though, because I looked through all of their gowns and they don't have another one. They still carry them, as they are in the newest catalog, but they didn't have any on the racks. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed!

They can always order one from the manufacturer or get one from another store :) If they said they'll replace it, I'm sure they will.

I'm in a crappy mood today. I was just so-so last night after dinner, and I figured I'd finish up the centerpieces. I dragged out all of the crap and got started. My mom, who was already in a weird mood when I got home, ***e over and offered to help. I really didn't want any help...I just wanted to be left alone. But I couldn't tell her that...she'd just get upset. So I politely declined her offer. But she just kept asking me, in various ways, if she could help, and I kept saying no. Then she sat down at the table and KEPT ASKING. I was really getting irritated, but she's so friggin' sensitive sometimes, and I knew if I told her how I was feeling, she'd get all hurt and pouty. Well, apparently, I didn't have to tell her...she just sat there and started crying. I asked her what was wrong, but she wouldn't tell me. Then she got up and went to her room to do stuff. By now, I'm seriously in a mood and you have no idea how hard it was for me to resist the temptation to chuck one of the centerpieces across the room. I cleaned up the stuff and went to my room to read, figuring that would cheer me up. But all I ended up doing was laying there crying. And anytime I go to bed crying, I almost always wake up in a ****y mood. And why is it that everything seems to go wrong when you're already ready to kill someone??? So I'm stuck at work, with my boss irritating the ***** out of me, dumping a ton of crap on my lap (like I'm not already WAY overloaded as it is :rolleyes: ) because HE just got back from vacation and he's got to find some way to catch up. God, I hate everyone right now. :mad:

You are so close to your wedding...I am sure emotions are running high for both of you. Your mom probably was just trying to be helpful and she thought you were saying you didn't want the help because you didn't want to put her out. Hopefully, when you see her today, she will have recovered :) and everything will be fine. For me, a good cry helps...so go home and hide and cry as long and as hard as you can. Then wash your face and get a cold drink...for some reason this process always makes me fell better when I am feeling stressed or overwhelmed.

Well, I'm sorta disappointed guys. I've finally gotten all of the RSVP's that I can, and less than half of our invitees are actually coming. None of Gene's family is coming, except for his brothers and thier wives. Most of my family isn't coming, including my dad and stepmom. Most of the people who were all over the fact that we were getting married and "can't wait to come to the wedding" aren't coming. We're going to end up with 39 people, including the wedding party and the vendors. And while I totally understand that not everyone can spend the money to hop on a plane or whatever, I can't help but feel a little sad that so few people are coming. We wanted a small-ish wedding, but we figured we'd have 50 people or so. I'm really, really wishing right now that we had just done the family-only wedding at my parent's house like we'd discussed in the beginning.

On the upside :rolleyes: , I've completely had it with this crap. I CANNOT wait to get this over with. Don't get me wrong...I can't wait to marry Gene, but I am so GD sick of the planning and the details and hearing my mom offer to help when she knows that I can't have her booking out honeymoon activities (she knows nothing about diving) or making my 'must-have' list of photos. I know she's trying to be helpful, but she's making things worse. And of course, I can't tell her, because she just gets all weepy and I'm sick of that too. I'm sick of walking on eggshells around her. I told Gene last night that the minute we get back from Hawaii, we are going to look for an apartment. I don't even give a s*** about buying a house anymore. We can't afford anything here anyways. :mad:

And I'm sorry to keep b**tching about everything to you guys. I'm just so fed up that if I don't complain, I'll explode. I've been SOOOOOOOOOOO good about letting everything go that was stressful, but I just can't anymore... :mad:

Hang in there honey... it will be wonderful no matter what. Just focus on the positives and enjoy your day.

I've still got to...

Make the wedding programs;
Make the placecards;
Distribute the schedule for the wedding day events to the vendors;
Meet with the photographer to go over my list of photos;
Make the list of 'must-have' photos;
Do the seating chart;
Talk to the catering manager about the table we'll use for the sand ceremony;
Rent a skirt for this table;
Book our diving trips for the honeymoon...
dont make a list of the must have, let the pics come naturally. You wont forget any and whos going to stand there and mark them off the list anyway? You will take plenty of pics and you will see that they all will work out. try and relax and enjoy

Finally heard from the Country Club manager and the news is not good. Although he promised me 2 weeks ago that the sod would be done by the time he returned from vacation and that the cart path would be redone (they dug it up) by the wedding, I'm now getting a different story. The sod, which is not done, should be done by this weekend (we'll see). The cart path will NOT be done. So now I have no walkway for some of the pics the photographer suggested. The path usually leads from the front sidewalk around the back of the CC, right past the steps that lead up to the patio where we are getting married. After the ceremony, we were supposed to exit the front doors, walk the sidewalk to the cart path and the photographer was gonna get shots of us walking arm-in-arm, looking all happy after the wedding and such. So much for that idea.

I can't help but feel so helpless here. I wish there was some way to hide what they've done...
Awww sweetie, you need a little time for yourself! Go find yourself a massage therapist and treat yourself for an hour, it will do wonders for you. :)

its going to be alright - first of all, as long as the sod is in you're going to have a nice background. Secondly, yes the path will be there, it just won't be paved. You'll just have to be careful to not get your dress too dirty. Third, I'd be calling and getting some of my money back!
Its going to work out though - that day, you're not going to notice whether or not a path is paved. Ask your photographer for options - he might have some ideas :)

Ok, I woke up feeling bad again, with this heaviness in my chest and the cough that feels like bronchitus coming on, except without the fever. So I got to the office and called and made an appointment to see my PCP. And now, for some reason, I don't really feel as bad. I had a coughing fit that seemed to clear it all up, which I don't understand. *shrug* I really hate to drive across town to go see the Dr (who I don't like, but I'm switching soon, so it doesn't matter) and pay the co-pay if I'm fine. Of course, I know if I don't go, tomorrow I'll wake up feeling like death.

But I'm just trying to focus on the wedding and getting the last details taken care of. We've finalized the meal list and the bar situation. Mom's started working on the favors with the mints in them. The place cards are done. 8 more days...

I am sure that all the stress is causing these symptoms. There is a shot I think that the doctor can give you (maybe Vitamin B?) that will help your body fight the effects of the stress and help you keep your energy up. I could be completely wrong, but I remember my cousin doing this once when she had a really stressful audition for something.

ACK!!!! I just realized I don't have my 'something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue'. I mean, I have my dress, earrings, necklace, etc for the somthing new. Maybe I can find a hair pin or clip with blue in it. But I have no idea what to borrow or use that's old. I'm sitting here laughing at myself because I can't believe I forgot. I mean, I've thought about it, but then it slipped my mind (or my mind is slipping completely!!!) and now it's 8 days before and aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! lol I swear I might need a straightjacket soon! lol

Do you already have your garter? That is the most popular way to include blue. For the something borrowed, I will be carrying a hankie that belongs top a good friend of the family (she is like a grandma to me).

Of course, I just checked weather.com and they are projecting it coming right at us. And now it's a Tropical Storm. They have that 'cone' of possibility or whatever they call it, and it seems that Ft. Myers is right in the middle. :eek:
Maybe if we all stand outside and blow really hard it will push it away! :p Kind of like the butterfly effect theory, that a simple motion can alter the universe! :D I'll keep the fingers crossed!

I am really sorry to see that it looks like Katrina might be crashing your wedding! Like I said in another post, I am crossing my fingers that the storm turns more in my direction to help minimize the effects on you guys! The storm isn't strong enough to do too much damage, but it is certainly strong enough to mess up a wedding! Anyway, you are in my thoughts and I really hope this turns out wonderful for you!

Can you guys tell I'm bored at work and anxious about the wedding? lol

I just checked the forcasts for Katrina again. The 'projected path' hasn't changed since 12:19, but the 'storm track' was updated at 2:something and it appears that the storm is moving a little more north now than it was as a tropical storm. It's moving N-NW @ 8mph, and I'm praying harder than ever. I'm not a storm expert, but it really appears that if it continues on the current path, it may skirt the east florida coast and maybe make landfall closer toward Jacksonville or GA. I've still got my fingers crossed...

I haven't seen that track...but I hope for your sake that you are right!

The permissions on the hosting server are incorrect. They need to have read access - you might have to contact whomever is hosting them and have them change your permissions - it might not be something you can do. If you're uploading them with an ftp program you might be able to set the permissions.

You guys won't believe what I did. lol I can't help but laugh at how forgetful I can be. My mom wanted napkins printed with our names and wedding date, and I forgot about them! I left them in the box with the leftover invitations, since that's how they were shipped. It never occurred to me that I'd forget them. I was going through some of the leftover weddign stuff that's been sitting in our spare room, and I opened the box from the printer, and there were the napkins! Well, I guess we'll be using them for an anniversary party or something. :o

That's pretty funny! Or you'll just have plenty of napkins to use for the next year.
