I am doing a variation on the guest book idea, incorporating it into my scrapbook wedding album. I am planning on putting a scrapbook page on each table at the reception and letting my guests write notes instead of simply signing a seperate book. I really love the plume feather pens, but at $8 per, I can't afford it (considering I need 18). I was thinking about trying to make my own with ribbon a feather and a cheaper pen, does anyone have any thoughts or ever seen this done?

Thank you so much!
I posted a thread by going to the specific forum clicking a button that says New Thread. It's on the left above all the posts.

Hi FireLight828,

One idea is to:

-Take a feather (they come in a pack at the craft store), and
-a pen (bic pens work good- can be found in a pack @ the dollar store)
-remove the blue "plug" at the top- insert the feather.
-use double faced satin ribbon- 1/2" is good (to match your wedding colors.)
- Apply a small amount of glue near the point and wind the ribbon up towards the top.
-Apply another small amount of glue to secure. You can even add beads to the top if you want.

Let me know how this works out!

I have the same dilemma...but rather than the feathers I was going with a rose bud pen....pen, silk flower, and ribbon...oh and some hot glue.
I plan to make a bunch and put into a vase! Like a dozen of flowers! I like it because I have never seen this and I want everyone to chatter about it... OK the fact that a pen cost $20.00 and these are under $5 makes me really happy! I only plan to use it for one day! :D
Good luck!
Brandi

Go to an office supply store like Staples. Get one of those pens like they have at a bank with the chain coming out of the top. clip the chain with some wire cutters and you'll have a hole to glue the feather into. That's what I did. It turned out FANTASTIC and for only $2.84 total cost (Feather included)
