My Wedding is going to be on May 6, 2006 after a long engagement (2 1/2 Years). We are finally starting the planning. I know I want my color scheme for the reception to be Navy Blue and Cream. I Have no idea about any other of the reception idea's except we wanna do wax granual or sand art things for centerpieces.
My Ceremony color scheme is going to be rainbow. I have 16 Attendants (8 Male, 8 Female) they are going to wear the same dress in different colors (Platnum, Sky Blue, Pink, Coral, Lavendar, Sea Foam Green, Yellow and a Periwinkle) and the groomsmen's ties will match the dress of thier partner. Plus we have my niece as flowergirl (she will be turning 5) and to be totally unique were considering having a ring bearess. We want a friend of ours to do it, she will wear a black and white dress and be one of my fiancee's attendents. Is this weird? Just wanna know what you think!
Well this is all I have so far but any imput I'd be totally greatful for!
Sulli,
First, it's YOUR (and your FH's) wedding so you may do what you want within reason.
Second, I think that as long as your colors are going to stay within the pastel range then you will be ok. Once you start mixing the bolds with the pastels then it throws things off a bit. I do like the idea that the bestman and bridesmaid will have the same color scheme from partner to partner. I would definately make sure that your future husband (FH) agrees with all of the different colors that you have chosen. I don't know if I would stick with navy and cream for the reception if you want all of the attendants to be wearing different colors at the wedding. I would try to stick with one color scheme for the wedding and reception so that your attendants do not have to buy two different outfits for one special occasion. After all, it is the bridal party's responsiblity to buy their attire and quite frankly I don't think they will be willing to pay for two outfits. Why don't you just do a rainbow wedding and then you can have a wonderful show of colors throughout your decorations and flowers at both the wedding and reception? Plus, where will they change between the wedding and reception?
In addition, there is NOTHING wrong with having a little girl be the ringbearess. A lot of people do a little boy because the ring bearer is normally for the grooms attendant. If your going to have a little flower girl and a ringbearess, why can't they wear the same color and style of dress? I think with your rainbow theme this will work out rather well.
Finally, why are you having so many attendants? The normal for a wedding is one groomsman/usher for every 50 guests. With 8 attendants for the groom that will mean you are expecting about 400 people. Are you having that big of a wedding or are you just having a large bridal party?
Good luck with all of your wedding planning needs!

Thank you for your imput... the rainbow idea for the reception is a good idea. I just thought it would be to much. My FH and I picked out the colors together and the tie thing was his idea. Granted the groomsmen are fighting over who will end up wearing a pink tie.
I forgot to put this in my first post but the person who will be our ring bearess is 21 years old. She is a childhood friend of the groom and we thought it would be unique to include her so that's why she was going to wear black, she would be one of his attendents.
The reason we have 8 of each as I have always been told that friends are the family you choose, so the friends who have been there for me over the years I wanted standing by me on my special day. Out of the 16 though are alot of important family. My sister is my MOH and my brother is one of the groomsmen. My FH's sister is one of my bridesmaids (she actually introduced us, I was friends with her before I met him). Plus he has three of his cousin's in the wedding one as his Best Man. The rest are childhood friends!
Well, I am glad that you like the idea of using the rainbow colors for the reception as well and I can almost guarantee that the bridal party will be appreciative knowing they only have to get one outfit. I think that is awesome about the ringbearess because she can also help the flower girl out if needed. I would agree with you in staying with the black and white dress for her. I did not realize that the ringbearess was older than the typical ringbearer and flower girl usually are. I am glad you have decided to use the family and close friends as your wedding party. When I first read the previous post I was trying to figure out why you had so many attendants and that is the only reason why I asked the question. I was hoping it was because of having a lot of close friends and relatives instead of having a huge wedding. I know my guest list is almost 200 people and I just couldn't imagine having one that was almost 400. LOL
Good luck!!
