DF and I have two children - boy and girl aged 8 and 11. Can we make our children our "maid of honor" and "best man"? DF does not want a "best man" as he has too many friends to choose from and not one particular best friend. Nor does he really want someone up there giving a speech about him, he is a very very modest man.
We are planning our wedding ourselves and paying for it all and have always wanted the children as a major role. Is this okay to do or because of their ages do we need adults in those roles?

Thanks
Chris

Some states require witnesses' signatures. You would have to select 2 adults for this, but I don't see why the kids couldn't be in the ceremony with those titles.

I would definately pick a MOH and best man that are of age to sign the marriage certificate. You can then make the children like an assistant to the MOH and bestman. Maybe call them CO-MOH and CO-best man. Just make sure that you have two witnesses for the marriage certificate which is normally signed by the MOH and best man.

If he can't choose between friends maybe he can get a brother or his father to be the best man.

When 2 friends of mine were married, her son and daughter were the maid of honor and the best man - the first bridesmaid and groomsman signed the marriage license - it was great. This way, the children that are in the newly blended family stood right next to their parents. The pastor even commented on it and made the children take "family vows" as well - it was a surprise to even the parents and it was beautiful.
