i'm new here and have tried to post before but i forgot where i did it so i'm gonna try this again, sorry if i missed important advice and sorry so long. my fiance and i got engaged this past october and will be married fall 2005. we both have had many close friend but no one more special than the other and most we did not keep in touch with. together we decided to not have a maid of honor or best man. our wedding gusets will be primarly family so we decided to include his young nieces and nephews and my young cousins (ages 1-13) in our wedding party. i love flowers so having lots of flower girls sounds great to me and neither of us have to worry about choosing someone to stand up for us. what do you think of this? please i would love feedback. Sandy ;)

Sounds precious :) Just remember that you'll need 2 adult witnesses (they don't have to be "in the wedding" but you'll want to pick them beforehand

As reecey said ... you need to remember that you will need 2 adult witnesses to sign the marriage license. Usually it is the Maid of Honor and the Best Man that sign as witnesses. I would strongly suggest that you make sure you have these two people picked out before the wedding because afterwards the minister/officiant is going to want to get it signed right away before everyone forgets about it due to the reception and post wedding pictures.

Good luck with your planning!!

I think that sounds like a good idea for the two of you. Actually, I'm not sure if this is a nationwide thing, or just state wide, but I know where I am from in Pennsylvania, you don't even need witnesses anymore. They are just a standard tradition that most people opt to keep.

It does depend on the state - I know that in Michigan, you're required to have 2 witnesses and the bride and groom don't even sign the marriage certificate. I find it rather amusing....you only need one person's signature to get the license, then the witnesses sign after the ceremony - so, in effect, you could get married without ever signing anything :P

Thanks everyone for your input. A few people have been trying to tell me we could not just have the kids but one of our 130+ guests can be witnesses. Thanks
