View Full Version : Neat decoration idea
While shopping this weekend my FH and I found some really pretty metal buckets that have hearts cut out of the sides. The three colors that Target had are red, pink, and white. My FH and I got looking at the buckets and figured out that there are tons of things we can do with the buckets and here are several of the ideas:
1.) Spray paint each bucket one wedding color and then place candles in them to use as luminaras.
2.) Spray paint each bucket one wedding color and then use them as pots for the silk flower arrangements for the center pieces at the reception. Instead of leaving the stuff that holds the flowers in place green we can try to spray paint it a different color so that the other wedding color will show through the heart. We will then use flowers in the the color of the wedding. Then we can let each member of the bridal party have one of the potted silk arrangements.
3.) Because we will be catering our own reception we can spray paint the buckets wedding colors and then roll the plastic forks, knives, and spoons in the napkins and tie each napkin with some ribbon. We will then place the rolled plastic ware in the different buckets for guests to get a place setting.
4.) My future mother in law thought that we could even leave the little buckets white and just tie different ribbons around the buckets for the flower arrangements. She said all the buckets do not have to be spray painted but I would at least like to paint them ivory to match the wedding.
I am sure that we will come up with more before the wedding. Anyways, the little buckets are only $1.00 a piece so I don't think that they will kill the budget too bad. Plus we are going with a wedding theme that will have hearts all over the place. The invitations will have two hearts, some of the decorations will have the double hearts, etc.

Thanks! I was looking for something like this that didn't cost 5.99 each! Off to Target I go! It really is my favorite store haha :)

OMG! That's so funny. My FH and I were at Target the other day and were trying to figure out what we could do with those little buckets! I wasn't sure if I wanted them b/c of the hearts and I'm not using hearts for anything. But the plain ones without the cutouts would work too. I'm hoping they come out with some for summer with palm tree cutouts or something summer-y. It seems that they will be a seasonal/holiday thing since they had them for winter (snowflakes) and now Valentines Day.
Well, I am glad that my idea could help someone. If you go to Target where I found them was in all of their $1.00 stuff that they had close to the front door. If you can't find them there then see if they are starting to put out their Valentine things because they might choose to put them there. Every Target is different. I hope that you find them.
Well ladies, I have started to spray paint the little buckets and the idea is really going to work out great. When my parents and his parents saw the little buckets and how they looked afterwords they really liked them so I was told to go get some more and what ever we can get will be put to use as either flower containers, wrapped silverware holders, luminarias, etc. One older lady saw my FH and I spray painting the buckets and asked why we were spray painting "those cute little buckets" once I told her she said that was a wonderful idea. I hope that you ladies are able to find some use for them as well. This has been one of the best ideas for the wedding yet and it is really inexpensive considering that we would have to pay for something to use for centerpieces on the reception tables. One thing my future mother in law suggested was to make sure how many wrapped plastic ware each would hold so that I know exactly how many to get for that and then put one or two on each table so there is enough for everyone that will be seating at the table. I'm almost positive that each will hold at least 10 wrapped plastic ware. I could even put some more in each so if someone breaks a fork or something they can get another one right away. I do plan on getting the better plastic ware for the wedding so hopefully that won't happen. I asked my future mother in law if she was going to help me wrap the napkins around the plastic ware and tie the ribbon and she said sure. She really wants to help in anyway she can.

My invitations also have two hearts, place cards, thank you's. My favours are votive candles with wraps two hearts. My decorations are heart shaped balloons, heart shaped danglers, etc. I'm trying to find a heart shaped centre piece for the head table.

These would also be great to make baskets for your out of town guests in and also the "bathroom baskets!"

That is a really good idea. I had not thought of doing those type of baskets in the little containers. I do think they might be a little small but we can get bigger ones like them.

What type of stores do you have in Hawaii? I found some buckets at WalMart as well. Any of your discount department stores like this will have the buckets.
