Does anyone have any suggestions on a nice honeymoon location for a tight budget? My FH and I dont have much money to spend on a honeymoon and were thinking about just taking a 2-3 day trip somewhere. Help!!!! Thank you.

Oh-Im from MI, so somewhere close(within driving distance) would be nice. Im thinking Mackinac Island-Ive never been there, but drive through Mackinac to the Upper Peninsula for college all the time and kind of dont feel like taking that same drive. Any other suggestions are much appreciated!!!!

Mackinac Island would be worth the drive, in my opinion. Although, its very expensive to stay there... You could always drive west and hit the mall of america - there's a ton to do there and its really not all that far from where you are. I guess it depends on what type of people you and your FH are. My FH and I are actually renting a cabin for a week in the UP and just gonna hang out there. That's our idea of heaven :) Depending on what time of year you're getting married - check out some of the smaller towns that arent' too far away - see if they have any seasonal festivals going on there when you would be on your honeymoon - might be fun to just get out and do a variety of things in a new place ;)

I never really thought about checking for festivals in nearby towns-they have the bologna festival in yale..haha...i know makcinac island would be worth the drive, i just dont want the same ole drive i take for xmas, spring, and summer break-do you know what i mean. going to the mall of america is a good idea-ive never been there. My FH likes to travel and we were also thinking about driving along route 66 and hitting up some of the attractions along the way-until we get to california and visit his cousin in CA. That could be very costly though. Anyway, thanks for your suggestion and i will look into it!!!

I'm not very educated on the geography of MI, so I don't know if this is close to you or not, but my FH is from Charlevoix, MI and he says it's beautiful. We had considered getting married there, so I did a little research on stuff up there.

Charlevoix is beautiful any time of year. However, that's further than Mackinac island and part of the "same ole drive" really :) I understand exactly what you mean. I used to drive from Oklahoma to Michigan all the time. It got very boring and tedious. It began to feel like the car could do it without me! :)

I dont necessarily mind the drive (most of the time anyway) ,but its just that its the same route every time-and yes gets very tedious at times. I know what you mean reecey about the car being able to do it without you...lol!!!
I don't know anything about MI but maybe you can find an alternate route to Mackinac Island. I know here in AZ there are a lot of beautiful routes that a person can take to get off of the freeways. See if there might be any in your area that might be a little longer but different.

Just an idea to throw out there...maybe a romantic B&B (bed & breakfast) I'm not sure how tight the budget is, but over here they run inexpensive and hopefully you could find one rather close...otherwise I love the idea of a romantic cabin honeymoon ... I'm planning one myself! ;)

May I also suggest Canada. Toronto is SO much fun, and you can take the Amtrak train from Windsor to Toronto for a very good price.
June is the traveling season, so Chicago would probably be expensive.
My parents honeymooned in Tahquamenon Falls. I have never been there, but I really want to go. I have heard that it is gorgeous. My parents love the outdoors so they actually camped (they didn't have much money either), but I'm sure you could find a nice hotel in the area too. Here is a website of the falls: http://www.fishweb.com/maps/chippewa/tahquamenon_river/index.html
Niagara Falls is very popular, but I recommend Tahquamenon Falls since it would be less crowded but just as beautiful.
I hope that helps!
Good luck,
Elizabeth

Koolade, believe me you will be greatly disappointed if you are thinking about Yale. I lived and graduated from Yale. Not my choice. It is the smallest most pathetic hole in the wall town. It is not a place I like going back to. Trust me and take my advice. LOL :)
