I was not enjoying trying on dresses until I put this on. I KNEW it was the one the second I zipped it up. I absolutely love it. Mine is not in white (as in the first link), though, it's ivory and rum pink (second link).

Wow you all have picked some absolutly beautiful gowns and I'm sure you will look radiant in them.
Unfortunatly I don't have mine narrowed down yet. I think I know which one I'm getting though, I just keep coming back to it. The funniest part is I thought I would never want one like it. It's strapless and I'm a plus sized women and I always thought they just don't look very appealing on a girl of my build. This dress makes me feel like Cinderella though (without the ugle stepsisters and evil stepmother).
If I can find a link to it I will post a picture

Well ladies, I finally purchased my dress and it's from David's Bridal. I was going to go with one from Mary's but decided to try and find one that was similar but not as expensive. Here is the one that I chose http://www.davidsbridal.com/bridal_gowns_detail.jsp?stid=1727&prodgroup=91. Of course, because white drains me out really bad then it will be in ivory instead of white. I fell in love with the lattice work on the train.

Koolade I absolutely love your dress! My wedding is not for another 3 years so I am not sure what I want yet. I look around the internet a lot to see if there is anything. I am sure once I see it I will know.

I like all the other dresses as well, and I wish luck to everyone (like myself) that are still looking. :)

Here is mine: http://www.davidsbridal.com/bridal_gowns_detail.jsp?stid=1208&prodgroup=92

Funny story about it. I went to try on dresses one day, and started to think I liked a certain style. Then I realized I had no idea what my fiance would want to see me in. So I went home, and gave him a bridal magazine and said "what style dresses appeal to you?" and he flipped through the whole magazine and pointed out one dress that he liked (only one out of the whole magazine), so later I tore out the photo and when I went to David's (which is where I knew it was sold), I told the lady I wanted to try it on (of course I never would have picked it out on my own because it was nothing like any of the other dresses I was trying on). So I tried it on and I couldn't believe how beautiful it looked. I kept coming back to it. After trying on like 100 dresses, I had narrowed down to 4 that I liked and couldn't decide between. In the end, it was my dad that picked the dress, and he picked the same one as my fiance. So how could I not get this dress? Both my dad and my fiance picked it out. I wonder if my fiance will remember that he picked it out of a magazine last Sept.?

UGH! That's STUNNING! Love it love it love it!

You are so lucky! I totally wanted a wedding like that, but my fiance really wanted a very traditional wedding. So we compromised and are having mostly traditional elements, but to make it more fun/different are having the reception at a German restaurant with a polka band. Are you going to wear a flower in your hair? That would be so lovely. I totally don't have the money to buy the dress I bought, but I got the 0% no payment for a year option, and plan to sell my dress right after the wedding. So if any of you are interested...

Thank you for responding. I think that your wedding sounds like it's going to be fun! I don't think that I have ever done the polka. :) You know I really haven't even thought about how I'm going to do my hair. The begining of Jan. I got my hair permed so it would have enough time to settle down before I got married but the person that I had gone to burned about 30% of my hair off and burnned the whole back of neck along with burns on my forehead and on my scalp. I was loosing my hair by the handfuls... I thought that I was going to be bald by the time my wedding ***e around. :( My hair is fine now; thank god! I went through 6 weeks of deep conditioning treatments to stop the breakage and the lose of my hair but with all of that going on with my hair I think that I just completely overlooked the styling factor of my hair for the wedding but flowers sound like a great idea; thank you. :)

I'm so sorry to hear about you getting burned like that! That happened to my sister about 10 years ago - it was bad bad bad. I'm thankful I never have to get a perm (my hair is very very very naturally curly - which can be a blessing and a curse!) I actually found the exact hair I want - and of all places on a coupon for hairspray lol. It was in the sunday paper a couple weeks ago - Its amazing where you find things - and all I was doing was looking for a yogurt coupon! :) Glad to hear your hair is fine now - You were very smart to do things way ahead of time to make sure that any mishaps would have time to be repaired!

I'm sure glad that I got my hair permed way in advance... I would be just crushed if I got the perm a week before I got married and had that happen; I honestly don't know what I would have done. I'm sure your hair will look absoultly devine for your wedding after all your dress is just beautiful!! :D thank you for the reply.

Reecey, how are you wearing your hair? I also have naturally curly hair...you are right, it can be both a blessing and a curse. Everyones advice to me is to wear it down, so I thought maybe half down/half up, but I haven't fallen in love with any styles yet. Wearing it all down would feel too out of control for me. There is just no way to guarantee when I will have a good enough hair day to wear it down. Especially here in Florida with the humidity.

Mine's going to be partially up - I'm having it professionally done - the only way to really ensure a good hair day is to pay for it :) I have very thick, course and tight curly hair - so its a battle on a daily - oh who am I kidding - hourly basis :) Anyway - I'm sure it'll involve hot rollers to get the tight curl out, but ugh - its so hard to explain - tell ya what, I'll scan the picture I found and I'll post it tonight or tomorrow so you can see :)

http://marysbridal.com/informal/2953.htm

I tried to find my dress on David's Bridal, but I guess they don't have it online anymore. Thankfully, I printed the dress out when it was. Anyway, the picture isn't very clear, but the dress is simple anyway. It has an empire banded waist and the back is open with just button closure at the nape of the neck and the low back. I tried 3 dresses on, and both my sister and I fell in love with how this fit on me. I kinda have big ****s and didn't want to seem too "flashy" in front of everyone especially my fiance. But I love it and most of all it fit my budget. :) The picture is very fuzzy I hope you guys can see it. By the way, you're dresses look beautiful. I hope you are as ecstatic as I am. How many times have you guys put your dresses on???

This is really funny, because when my cousin was getting married( i was maid of honor) i went with her for her dress fittings and the one time, i decided to try on some dresses(davids bridal) and found this one and fell in love. It was going to be the one(i used to look at it online for the heck of it)-so, when it ***e time for me to go dress shopping, the first one i tried on was this one, and it just didnt have the same effect. although i still love it, just wasnt the one anymore. Im glad you love it!

Everyone's dresses are beautiful!! My fiance & I are doing a destination wedding to Jamaica. We were originally planning a wedding in our hometown but I finally had my fill on dealing with drama-queen it's all about me brides maids!! Since we changed our plans it has been completely stress free.

http://marysbridal.com/informal/2953.htm

Let me tell you the story...I was shopping for the longest time, trying to find the dress of my dreams. every weekend I went out with my mother in law. I must say i liked almost all the dresses i tried on (that would be about 30). but finally, my mother in law told me to narrow it down, so i picked a dress to buy. Once i got home, i couldn't stop thinking about it the whole week, that i had made the wrong choice. so i panicked. Thinking that i couldn't return it, i went out and bought a designer dress in a clearance section off the rack. i took it home and later realized that it needed too much work to fix, and i thought i deserved a new dress for my wedding day. so i decided to sell the designer dress, and i called up the dress shop where i bought my other dress, and told them that i needed an exchange. So, on a rainy day after work, i went to the little italian dress shop by myself and tried on another two dresses. This second dress was perfect. not too big, classy and very elegant.

heres the link...

http://www.mydestinationbride.com/images/pronovias04-semilla-web.jpg

let me tell you, i never thought buying a wedding dress would be this hard! But i am now very pleased with the outcome.

Good luck to all of you in the future, and on your wedding day!!

That dress looks stunning on you! Excellent choice!

Oh! How gorgeous is THAT!?!?!?! You look like you're ready to walk down the red carpet, isle, or fashion runway! You're beautiful! That dress really looks great on you!

Thank you both!

And I'll get the link fixed so the rest of you can see it too. I'm not sure what happened...

OK, got one of them to show up, but the one of the back of the dress is still in hiding. It's not even showing up on my website where I host my pics, so I'm guessing it's a server issue. *shrug*

When you post the pictures what type of file are you uploading? If the picture type is not listed then it will not upload them and keep them posted. If you need to send them to me in an email and I will be more than glad to post them for you. My fiance knows how to change the file type if it is the wrong type of file. If you need my email address send me a private message and I will send it back to you.

Never mind SOM my fiance showed me how to get the properties of the pictures and we were able to get the picture and manipulate it so we could upload it here. Your welcome!! Well after playing around trying to figure out if I could get the picture properties I was able to and posted the pictures we have all been trying to see. They are working now so should they stop let me know and I will try to do it a different way. It's really nice to have someone know how to manipulate the pictures. The orange one is mine. Ther blue one is my FH's. We're car fanatics. That's how we met...through a car group back in VA...so we are incorporating the colors of our cars as our wedding colors!

We both like to take the cars to the track, but we haven't much since we moved to FL. The muscle car 'thing' just doesn't seem to be as big where we are as what we are used to.

Okay - we're missing the point here...what is your CAR wearing for the wedding? heheheh :) Seriously - which car are you driving for the wedding or are you getting a limo or something else? I'm not sure what I'm doing yet - hopefully I'll have my new truck by then :0

Actually, we are planning on leaving the cars at home. Neither of us want anyone to get any funny ideas about writing on them or anything like that. We both are fanatical about our cars and spend hours upon hours cleaning them, and most people who know us know better than to touch the cars, but we don't want to take any chances.

My mom will probably drive me to the wedding since it's only 1/2 mile from the house and my FH is staying with his brother at his hotel the night before, so his brother will be responsible for him.

Now, back to what eveyone is wearing.... :)

Here's a picture of the dress I bought for my wedding (by the way, I'm not getting married for another 2 years! hahaha) but I have it stored in a cool vault so that it won't change color... The dress is from the Alfred Angelo collection, affordable and comfortable styles This one is style 1727 and when I tried it on, I fell in love with it... I actually picked out another dress before than and placed a deposit on it to have it ordered in my size but then I had nightmares about the dress because of the location of some beads. So I went back to the bridal shop, tried it on again and noticed it was scratching me under my arms (didn't like that but the dress was beautiful) so I tried on new dresses that was just in more recently that I hadn't seen and I fell in love with the one in the picture. That's my story... hehe

I am sorry to say that I don't know anything about this site, but if you have enough time left before your wedding maybe you should order it with your credit card. That way, in case there is a problem you have the help of your cc company and enough time to keep shopping.

http://www.lazarobridal.com/laz_b/images_lg/LZ4123.jpg This was the 8th dress or so I tried on. I was looking for something plain, yet classy.
It was a "left-over" and it was the one I drooled over in the magazines... I have tried it on maybe 4 or 5 times and I love it. It makes me feel amazing. It is pretty heavy though! I got a really great price on it from a local bridal salon. Don't be afraid to shop left-overs or discontinued styles, you can find great dresses at a fraction of the price sometimes.

Hello ladies, I'm new to this and I enjoy looking at your wedding dresses and getting pointers from your e-mails. Very helpful. But I'm at the first stages of my wedding and I'm not sure which dress to get. The first one is my dream dress but I don't know if I should go strapless because I have small ****s and I'm very petite. I also love the last. I'm having two weddings because our families are large and in live in two different countries. It's hard trying to find that "right" dress. But anyway, here are some of my choices. BTW I love all of your dresses!

If this is your dream dress, I say go for it! You can always "pad" the front a little bit. Also, most strapless dresses come with optional spaghetti straps, or you could have them very easily added to the dress. I would go try the dress on at a bridal shoppe and see what it looks and feels like on you. Ask the bridal shoppe if they can make straps for it (or any seamstress really). I think its a beautiful dress and if it truly is your dream dress, go for it! :)

I will have a wedding in Los Angeles with our immediate family and one in Belize with friends and family, which is the bigger of the two and both are months apart. Do you think it's wrong if I only get one dress for both ceremonies? What do ya'll think?

I personally would only get one dress - just because its me - I dunno, I wouldn't want people to think that I liked one dress better than the other so I wore it where it was more important or anything like that heh

I'd say go with just one dress. I don't see the point is spending the extra money. You could use that money toward your reception or honeymoon or something.

I personally like the 1st, 2nd and the 5th ones. And like everyone else said I would only get one dress. Especially if you get your dream dress that you want, then you will be able to wear that beautiful dress twice! I would love to wear mine twice. Good Luck on deciding...you will need it!! :)

It took me forever to find my dress. But when I saw it on the dress dummy in the store, I told the sales lady to strip it and get it on me. When she did I fell totally in love. I got it in the white with an extended cathedral veil. I can't wait until Christmas when it all comes in!

I just wanted to say hi and thank all of you for posting your dresses. I just started my search for mine and this has helped me quite a bit to see what is out there.
I have found one that I like but it was too small and I just found out it was discontinued so now I am trying to search all the stores to see if anyone has a sample in stock in my size since it can no longer be ordered in the right size. any advice on other things I could do to try and locate the dress?

I am looking for a Mori Lee dress, the style number is 2613. It is from the Blu Collection. I would need it in a size 26. The 24 zipper wouldn't go up. If anyone knows where one is or even a picture of the dress that I could share with my bridesmaids that are scattered across the country so they could be on the lookout for it. any help would be appreciated.

When you post it shows you are from North Carolina so I found the Mori Lee website and found a list of the North Carolina stores which should carry the Mori Lee line of dresses. Here they are and I hope this helps.

You are getting married in 2007 and have already picked a dress? Aren't you afraid that after a year passes you will change your mind and want a different one? Seems like personal fashion/style (not to mention a person's body shape/weight) can change a lot in 2 years.

Is your great grandmother's dress still around? Could you possibly wear that? It might be a nice touch to wear a family heirloom if it is still around. Cleaners can do amazing things with dresses that are discolored over time or torn in any way.

I've already purchased my dress as well, and I'm not getting married until June 23, 2007. I'm not worried about the dress not fitting me because there's room for either taking-in the dress as well as taking it out. I felt so comfortable in the dress I bought that there's no way I'll change my mind on the style of it. I don't think there's anything wrong with buying a dress 2 years ahead of time, as long as you are aware of how you can alter it if need be if you do decide to purchase it. Mine is being stored, free of charge, in my bridal salons Cool-vault. That way it won't yellow or get dirty until it's time to alter the dress' length 6 months prior to my wedding date.

That is a really cool idea to have the salon keep it in their cool vault. I do not know how many of them have that here in Arizona as none of them ever give you that option.

Ceremony and reception site is booked. They do all the decorations and Dj and music and catering and cakes so thats alot I don't have to worry about! The site also provides a coordinator so she takes care of everything and I just meet with her and tell her what I want and she makes it happen. Huge relief. My dress is picked out, but not ordered yet. My sister is coming from out of state next week so after I show her I will put in my order. I have lots of ideas for bridesmaids dresses, but none picked out yet. It's hard because I find the dresses I like online and then I can't find them in the stores to have the girls try on! My site also does photography so I'm almost certain I will use them. The do videography too, but it's basic and no editting or fancy stuff. I may just use them and then edit it later if I want. Haven't decided yet. I am so stuck on the flowers it's unreal! I can't even make up my mind on the type of flowers I want! I also found the favors, cake design, invitations, and hairstyle I want but can't really do anything with it yet. Am I forgetting anything (or everything!)

Ok. Now I really feel like I am behind the eight ball. My reception site will also be where my ceremony is. I need to pick the dresses, I am thinking of a pale pink, with a darker color for my sister. The hall does the catering. A friend of mine is doing the djing as a wedding gift, another friend is giving us the cake as a gift. The site comes with a limo. I have not even figured out what kind of flowers I want. That is one of my biggest stumbling blocks. I have posted my three photographer choices on boston.com, to see how other brides have reacted to them. Two people raved about one of the three and one said no way on one. The third choice, I can't even find a website for him and no one has said anything about them. FH would like to do floating candles for the centerpieces. Oh, and flower girl dresses. Two girls who will be three and eight. The eight year old is loving this and the three year olds mom thinks that she will be so cute. Fine by me.

What am I forgetting?

do you have your officiant for the ceremony? Are you serving alcohol? Is that included with the food and the hall?
Oh yeah - do you have YOUR dress and have you got the attire for the groomsmen? :) What about decorations or favors?
Don't forget the marriage license! Depending on where you are, they're only good for a certain amount of time (30 days in Michigan) and it takes time to get it as well.

I have my dress and veil - I went to Cape Cod during the winter (best time to wedding dress shop in New England). I do have a friend who is a JP who is going to do the ceremony. I know what I want the guys to wear, but FH has not asked his guys yet. There is a champagne toast included with the hall as well as a coctail hour while the photos are being done. The marriage license is only good for 30 days in Massachusetts (no blood test is required). So, I guess that I still need to figure out gifts for family and girls and decorations. Anything else?

Thanks very much I have many pics of me in the actual dress I just am getting around to creating my journal here as well.

Believe it or not that was my 3rd dress, I first ordered a signature deisgn but decided I wanted something more bridal, then I exchanged it for a victoria wedding gown and I still wasn't happy, untiol I bought this one "reem" at a sample sale from the bride room in tennessee? anyway, they shipped it to me in NJ and I have been happy ever since, I am however worried about the seamstress altering my gown. :(

you can check around to other bridal stores that carry this line of dress and see if they work with outside garments - also, check around for seamstresses that have a portfolio of wedding gowns and references. How far are you from new york? You might have better luck there.

My dress was a Mary's too. I love this designer. I got many compliments on my dress the whole day and still now weeks after! They use a luxurious fabric that falls beautifully when you walk and the beading on the train and the train itself goes all the way around so that it won't flip and show the back of the fabric with beading seams. Mine had the full length cathedral train. Thank goodness it was detachable because the fabric and beading on the dress and train weighed a ton! Mine was a full skirted ballgown. I have no hourglass to fill the dress you chose here. :( I am sure yours won't be quite as heavy. All in all, I gave them two thumbs up. :) It even had a pocket hidden in the pleats which ***e in handy for a tissue when needed. Everyone got a kick out of it! You couldn't even see it until I pulled something out of seemingly no where in my dress.
I almost forgot to mention, they also have flower girls dresses to match the gown you choose or something very similar.

ok, I am going to try and insert a picture of the dress I just bought. Icouldn't get my picture in right, so here is the link for the dress. I will try to reduce the picture of me in it so that the file isn't so big. I am so excited. I am just in love with it and it is really different from anything else I saw while I was looking. Hope you guys like it!!

I think your dress is beautiful. I can't wait to see you in it. I think we look better in the dresses than the models because we all have that "I'm getting married in this" glow about us that makes the dress light up too! :) I especially like the way it opens up in the front. I have a ballgown that does the same thing and I think it looks so elegant.

I like the 2nd and 3rd ones. However, see if you can get your dream dress. If you are not opposed to buying online try either house of brides or the bridal mart. I actually got my dress at the bridal mart (I was able to actually go there because I am in NC, but they do allow on line orders) I got my dress for about $350 less then it retails at other stores. Also, I tried on a Mary's dress similar to your dream dress and the price they had it listed at to buy off the rack was $318 and it was $280 if you just ordered it.

OH MY GOD!!!! We have the same dress, which is so cool because I know that at the store I bought it from, I am the only one to have ordered it in ivory in the past year, and they haven't sold any white ones. They said that no one looks good in it, and I shouldn't be able to wear it because I'm too short for the style. I'm also too short for the dress; I have to wear 5" heals since they can't move the detail high enough to hem it more.

They showed me a really nice bustle when I tried it on that made it flat in the back and really showed off all the beadwork, but when I went to my fitting, they tried doing it how I was describing and they said they couldn't do it... now I'm stuck with a french bustle (ew ew ew). I'm also going to cut the ribbons shorter and just tie it in a knot and tuck it in instead of having a bow (which they also threw a fit about me wanting to do when I had my fitting even though that's how I had it both times I tried it on).

Don't be nervous about your color choice... first, lots of dresses aren't even white or ivory anymore, they've got colored panels, flowers, or just *are* colored. Second, I have lots of friends that work at bridal shops and they all say the same thing; hardly anyone looks good in white dresses. Almost everyone orders ivory now because it generally looks much better.

If you haven't already had it bustled, you might want to check around with some other alterations people. I have been told by many people that the folks in alterations at David's Bridal are not always the best and sometimes won't think outside of the box. If you were able to hold it up like you wanted, I wouldn't see why you wouldn't be able to do it like you wanted.

Cashy~ I am having the same problem! I found my dream Maggie dress, but can't find any of the store that carries that exact dress. The salons that carry Maggie dresses that I've been to only have like 1 or 2 of them. It is so frustrating. There is a Maggie trunk show at a salon about 2 hours away this weekend so I'm hoping they have my dress there. I have tried on a replica of the dress, but it wasn't the same at all since the Maggie has a corset back and I wanted to see how that looked. I did come across a website that will send you the dress to try on, the only thing is they charge you the full amount and then reimburse you when it gets returned. So if all else fails, I may try that. I just know it's the dress I have to have!

Unfortunately they're already bustling it... the thing that frustrates me is *I* didn't hold it up that way. One of the alterations girls there did!

I asked the manager (a good friend of mine) and the girl I worked with who were both there when I had my first fitting, and neither of them remembered how she did it and both agreed that it had to be a french bustle with the way the dress is cut. The alterations lady got snippy with me for wanting my ribbons cut shorter too... she didn't understand I wanted them tucked in and not bowed at all... she kept telling me just to double bow it to keep from dragging. But that's fine... it just means I don't have to pay her to sew that up too :D

And although I hate the bustle, at least I won't be looking at my butt that day... and I'll let the photographer take a couple of the back side of teh dress when it's bustled (and won't really look at them), but I'll make sure he has a bunch with the train out too...

That's my story... hehe

Wow... that is really pretty. And you're going to be so gorgeous on your big day. :D

Thanks! I just fell in love with it when I tried it on. I think I knew the first time I put it on that it would be it. It is so different from a lot of the other dresses out there and I love the colors. You can't see it in the pic so well, but the insert in the dress is Mocha and the beading is mocha too.

I am soooooo happy!!! Last night I went to JcPenny's after work and walked past a rack holding the most beautiful dress; so I tried it on and I loved it so I bought it! :D So now I have a pretty dress. Nothing like you lady's but I like it. :D

I really liked your other dress - especially the idea of matching your FH's shirt to it. Still, it's a wedding day and every girl wants to feel like a princess. I love the one you have settled on - simply stunning.

this is a site that I found that seems too good to be true. I am a plus-size and this site has some amazingly beautiful gowns for REALLY cheap! all of their dresses come in all sizes from 2-30 (i think) and they are actually pretty! if anyone has any experience with this site/manufacturer, please let me know how they worked for you. i haven't bought this dress yet because i am trying to figure out WHY they are so cheap! I loved all of your dresses and I hope you have beautiful weddings.

let me know what you think...this is for a vintage-themed (1930s, 1940s) wedding next March.

What a fantastic site. Thanks for this. I haven't managed to spot your dress yet - because my computer is on a go-slow I think but I have managed to see one that I REALLY like and it may just be perfect and the added bonus is that they DO ship to the UK. Let us know if you find anything out about the company but looking at the site, they do seem okay to me. Credit card buying is a very good idea indeed. So thanks for that tip too!

We are all going to be so BEAUTIFUL on the day - there are certainly some delicious gowns out there - good enough to eat!

Have you looked at the ones on e-bay? There is an amazing array of dresses and they are at such good prices. :)

I picked up a Frugal Wedding book and Chadwick's was listed as a place for nice informal gowns. I fell in love with that dress the moment I saw it.

Has anyone got the website address for "Chadwick's"?

here it is ladies....my actual dress...I am so excited....also, if you guys would give me your honest opinion about the tiara I am wearing with it....is it too gold or do you think it looks ok with the dress?

This is the dress pattern I have bought for my sister to make. It is a simple pattern but I think it will be pefect for a simple renewal ceremony. It will be made with satin ivory material. I want her to make the neck line with the pattern on the left and the sleeves with shorter cap like sleeves so I can wear it with a shawl made out of the same material. It will still be elegant but not too fancy for a smaller renewal.

I will be wearing a simple Tiara instead of a veil. I think they should go well together. I hope you can see both pictures.

I don't think it's too gold. I think it matches the dress perfectly.
I am actually leaning towards gold myself.

thanks! I like the tiara, but it is like $65 so I may try to find it elsewhere.
