I would love any advice you guys have about which wedding dress to choose to look the thinnest. I need to lose about 50 lbs and I know it takes a long time so I'm not sure I will lose it all before the wedding in August 08.

I am doing all the right things - I have joined a gym, cut out the junk and I'm really trying to stick with the diet. I also joined www.weightcircles.com which is great for keeping me motivated.

Anyway I'm deciding on the dress now so any tips on what to choose for a flattering cut are welcome! Also any tips on how to handle the fittings if you're still trying to lose right up to the wedding?

I have been looking at magazines, to see what's out there as far as dresses. Bride mag always has a section on what styles go best with what - hiding a tummy, minimizing arm size, accentuating shoulders, etc. I bet their website has the same info. Check out brides.com.

Good luck on the dress shopping and the diet!

Personally I think the best gowns to wear to make you look thinner are the A-Lined shape ones and I also think to stay away from anything strapless. I think sleeves look best.
There are so many different styles out there I am sure you will find several to choose from. Remember all brides are beautiful. There is something about a weddng gown that just makes all woman look so beautiful.
Good luck in finding the gown you love

I agree on the A Line dresses for making you look thinner, they have the seem right under the bust so it allows some room away from your stomach to hide the love handles.

Also dresses with the short sleeves that come off your shoulders, or halter top dresses I think help with the upper body if you don't have toned arms.

I'm with you in that I need to lose 50lbs, I refuse to go dress shopping until I reach my goal. Thankfully I'm not getting married until September 19, 2009 lol. So I have all of this year to get in shape.

Keep up the good work with your diet and exercise, once you get into a routine it's super easy.

Also, gowns made out of that real shiny satin picks up and reflects light, so will accentuate any bumps underneath it. Matt satin, or chiffon, or lace overlay better.

Buy a good bustier and some Spanx. They'll suck you in so that you don't have any rolls or bumps. You instantly feel 10 lbs lighter! My only suggestion is that you really have to have a lot to suck in to wear Spanx. I tried them on and they made me feel heavier since I have absolutely no butt. If your butt is on the big side, then go for it! Look on eBay for both- you can't beat the prices!

find the right silhouette too and there are those bodyformers that are sold in stores. i don't really know what they're called but they are really good in shaping your body.

You could also go one step further and instead of getting a boustier, buy an actual corset. That thing will suck you in like no other. Don't worry; you can get one without actual bones in it! I know how hard those things are to breath in!

I also like the haulter top idea. Not only do they do wonders for your waste and stomach area, but they make you seem less petite, and it definitely elongates your neck, which, if you still have some baby pudge around your cheeks, makes an amazing result.

Good luck!

First off, congrats on your wedding and for doing all the right things! It's difficult to lose weight, especially when you might be under a lot of stress from planning your wedding! It's great that you've committed not only to your marriage, but to yourself and your health as well!

If you're concerned about not fitting into your dress because you won't lose the weight fast enough, you might want to try a kombu seaweed powder (http://www.spabodyworkmarket.com/Kombu_Sea_Tangle___Kombu_Seaweed_Powder_p782.html) body wrap - my friends and I tried it when we were bridesmaids last year and it really helped! It reduces bloat, so you lose inches all over. It's not a long term solution like what you're doing, but it's a quick boost when you need it.

Good luck!
