I am getting married in December 08 or Jan 09. I am having some difficulty picking out some wedding colors. I know that I like a burnt orange and gold. Are these good winter colors? Any other suggestions.
Thank you

Here are a few ideas:

Blue (navy or baby), green or red with silver works well. Also, chocolate with red or green is another option.

If you are getting married near a winter holiday consider matching your color theme with that holiday. For example, red for Valentines Day or Christmas colors.

I think that really if those are the colors you are dreaming about then go with them! You can find a lot of gold in decorations sold around the holidays in december so gold I feel would be pretty easy to pass of as a winter color. I am not sure about the orange, it seems a little more fall like but I think that if you find the right decor than you can make it work. Typically when I think of winter I think of silvers and grays with blues or whites...It also depends on where you live or are having the wedding what are colors that are around there during those times? Being a midwest girl, we have snow and snowmen and christmas is white and red and green...elsewhere it may be different. Ultimately I think you should go with the colors you love, if you do it well, I feel you could pull of burnt orange and gold in December for sure. Good luck!

I fell in love with the light blue and silver color scheme for winter. It is very "icy" appearing. It is gorgous. You could also do light pink and silver for the same effect. I almost changed my wedding from a fall wedding to a winter wedding when I saw this. I also noticed this year in the christmas themes that there is alot of balck and silver being used together. Of course there are the traditinal holiday colors: red, green, dark blue, gold. You can use any or all of those in combination. The sky is your limit. Oh I really should be having a winter wedding!! haha

I think that you should not let the season's natural colors dictate what colors you choose for your wedding. If you want to go with burnt orange and gold you should...those are two BEAUTIFUL colors together. Also, what is better than walking from a snowy muddy slushy outdoors into a warm and beautiful burnt orange and gold reception area?

I completely agree with princess laura - I think that if those are the colors you want then you should go for it - like she said it could be more uplifting to see bright warm colors rather then the usually red greens and blues

If you absolutely love those colors, you should go with them. I personally don't think that a wedding should match the season. Just because you'r getting married in december, it doesn't mean that you have to use Christmas colors, right? Best wishes!

Neutrals work well for formal winter weddings, too. You can use black and white or black and champagne for everything from the wedding party's attire to the reception hall. Black and white or black and champagne work beautifully for nighttime weddings because of the opulence they emit when paired together. Another option? Pale gold or taupe—with white or black.
