Okay so I did some dress shopping on saturday. I tried on this dress that I felt great in and it looked wonderful on me, my BMs both loved it on me! So here the thing, the dress has piping down the back, very thin and a little around the front. I could get the same color to match my BMs or a champagne or just same color as the dress. I'm worried it wont have the same effect if I just get no color or a very plain one. But I'm also worried that color will make it look dated in like ten years. I have some time to think about it, but any opinions?

Here are a couple of pictures. The color wont be black. Go easy on me ladies, still losing weight! ;)

You are lucky that they let you take pictures. I would go with your instincts. I wanted my dress to be all white so the areas that they has color on mine I had them order it in white. But if I were to go with color I probably would go with my girls dress color, if possible. I would try to go to the website of the designer and see if you can play with it and see it in different colors. Once its right you will just know.

I like the colored piping - i would do any wedding color you have chosen. My dress has a thicker sash - that is called marine blue in a similar spot as yours - it is almost a navy and then my girls will wear lighter blue dresses and the flower girls will have the dark blue like mine.
I think the dress is beautiful and the piping is very subtle so it shouldn't look dated later on. Maybe with the BM's dress color would look nice but if you can see a sample that would be the best to pick the color.

i think you should get the piping in your color scheme of your wedding. i don't think that it will look outdated in ten years. and if anything, in ten years it will look vintage and you know that's all the rage!

congratulations on the dress! looking for the right one can be very frustrating but good for you! i agree with the other girls here. you should do the piping on your own color scheme. :)

Update! Well I did go ahead and order this dress, with slate blue piping. So it'll be opposite of the BM dresses which will be light blue with a white sash around the middle. I'm pretty pumped about it, should be here around April! :)
