Hi everyone,
Me and my fiancee are full time college students hoping to go to grad/med school in about a year and a half, but in between there, he asked me to marry him. Of course, I said yes, and we are having our wedding next summer.
I found a post on craigslist for a dress that I absolutely adore. After meeting the woman, and trying on the dress, I have no doubt this is the dress for me. The problem is, it's a Maggie Sottero dress that she bought last year for her wedding which means she spent a lot on it. It was only worn once for her wedding, but she hasn't dry cleaned it nor has she repaired some bussels that broke on her wedding day. She told me to give her an offer and she'll see. I know she spent $1000 on the dress, but if I am looking for a used dress (which should be cheaper than a new dress), shouldn't it at least go down in price by 50%? Also, should I include in there the cost of tailoring and dry cleaning? How much should I offer her? BTW, I told myself my limit was $500 for a dress, and I want to make sure that I don't greatly exceed that amount with the extra stuff I need to do for a used dress. How do I explain the my offer to her? Thanks! Meg
