Everyone had some great ideas for Firefighter's weddings and reception ideas....here's to hoping that I will have the same luck with ideas for a "military style" wedding and reception. My man is in the 1st Calvary division currently serving in Iraq. Their colors are royal blue and gold. He plans to wear his military uniform and we are inviting any military/retired military to do the same. The thing that I am trying to avoid is it looking too much like a 4th of July theme. I was wanting to use blue and golds for our colors, but i don't want it looking to much like a Golden Wedding anniversary either...help please!

The military is all about tradition. The arch of sabers can be used if he is an officer. Some people include the "anthem" if you will, of their branch. Can't remember what the Army is at the moment. For instance they can play this when you make your entrance into the reception. As far as colors go, you can use them both together but go for subtle hints of them, don't over do it. You could use blue flowers for centerpieces with just a hint of gold somewhere in there. Of course you can do your bridesmaids in royal blue, maybe with some simple gold jewelry. For the grooms cake you can do the Cav symbol of the horse and stripe. Okay that's all I got for now, if I think of anything else I'll let ya know!
