# 1... I had saw one just like it in a magazine and made the comment "whoever gets that is a lucky girl" ... and he paid attention!
(Occasionally he's on the ball) whew! I'm proud of him b/c receiving it as my ring was the furthest from my mind when I said that! You made me think of that episode on "Sex in the city" when Carrie got an ugly ring...lol

When I got my ring I loved it and still do but my FH wasnt satisfied with it and felt it wasnt good enough so just the other day he surprised me with another one that is absolutely gorgeous. Its not the size in my case just the thought and thats what I told him. The first ring was a quarter carat and the one I have now the center stone is 1/2 carat and there are little diamonds on the side and one row in front and behind the center stone that equals another 1/2 carat. The center stone is shaped like a tear drop. It looks very elegant. But I definately love both of them. What about you? I would like to see what your answer is if you dont mind. Thanks

i love my ring!!! We picked it out together, and were supposed to go back together to actually buy it a few days later, but he went himself the next day and surprised me with it!!!!

I love my ring too!! It's a heart shaped diamond solitaire. Very simple and elegant, just a little over a half a carat. I remember seeing a heart shaped one in a jewelry store when I was younger and I told my mom that's what I want when I get married and she told my fiance and he got it for me!!

My ring is absolutely perfect - I couldn't imagine any better ring - its exactly what I would have picked - exactly! -
Mine is 1/2 carat princess cut with sapphire accents in white gold

I love my ring :p
It's better than any ring I would have chosen for myself. It's a platinum band, with a round cut .6 carrat diamon in the middle. On either side is 4 baguettes that are channel set. IT'S AMAZING!!!!!!!!...and he did it by himself!

I love my ring. Chris picked it out by his self. Its perfect. I couldn't have chosen a better ring. Its a white gold with 3 diamonds. The larger one in the middle and 2 smaller ones on the side. It has a matching band as well( i just hope he doesn't lose it from now till the day of our wedding). Its originally from the 40s. Chris knows that I love old jelwery.

#1. I would have to say that it is the most wonderful thing that i have ever seen.. It is white gold.. with so many diamonds.. I was always complaining to him for about a month and a half straight b/c he never had any money and wanted me to pay for things 100% of the time.. Now i know why.

I love my ring... but it is, of course what I had picked out. What's really sweet of my FH though is the fact that he actually got it for me (it was kinda expensive... ok, more than just "kinda"). It was just a fantasy that I had that I didn't expect to come true... but he made my dream a reality which is soooooooooooooooooooo sweet. But, really, he didn't have to do it... I would have loved anything he got me. :)

I absolutely adore my ring. We picked it out together. In fact, thought, I had to talk him into it because he thought it was too small and wanted a much larger, much more expensive ring. But, I fell in love with it because it has character. He decided it was more important that I loved it than that it was big. . Now he's decided he loves it, too.

I cant choose any of those choices b'cuz he didnt pick out my ring! We are actually using my grandmothers rings (set: engagement & wedding) from her wedding!!! So, these rings are 55 years old and have already been through 2 generations!!! (I'm the third :p ) All we had to do was get them re-sized and add the stones I want which are mine and my baby's birthstones: Amethyst (Feb. me) and Aquamarine (Mar. him) I cannot tell you how happy that made my g-ma when I told her I was using HER wedding rings!!! :D

I actually wasn't too fond of my first engagement ring (I didnt really like the round sapphires)
http://img182.imageshack.us/img182/313/screen82il.jpg
But it grew on me, I started to love it more and more the longer I wore it. Noo I did not say anything to him, when we went to pick out our wedding bands I had the option to get a matching bridal set... this one
http://img182.imageshack.us/img182/9168/screen63zz.jpg
when I had to hand over my first ring (so they could use the same diamond in my new one) I had second thoughts but I am very happy with my choice.
Oh yeah and when he bought my first one, it was intended to be a temporary setting for the diamond he picked out.

I love the diamond and ring that me and my fiance picked out together. It is a 1 1/2 carat diamond solitarie with a simple band we went to a family jeweler and picked it out and before the wedding I'm having a new setting for the engagement ring. We looked at several designer rings like Tacori, Scott Kay and Ajafe and I decided that I liked Ajafe the best. Here's what my ring will look like after we get the new setting.... Right now it's a solitarie with a simple band.

All of your rings sound and look beautiful. At this point, I would take a twist tie as my e-ring and love it just the same. The first time I was married, I wanted the biggest and the best. It still hurts when I think about when I gave it back. I loved that ring. But you see how far the ring got me. lol Now I just want to be his. The ring means nothing to me, it's the meaning behind it that I'm looking forward to. :)

1.yes, i loved it!
He could not have done better. I love looking at it..and the compliments I get. It's a 1.3 round brilliant center stone in a 4 prong setting, with 12 princess diamonds running down the band and 28 small round diamonds alongside those. All together it's about a 2.1 ct ring.

I love my ring! I couldn't have picked a better one. My FH knows that I like the antique look and I gave him a couple of ideas but he went out on his own and pick the perfect one! In white gold, it's a 1.25 carat round diamond in a Tiffany setting, it has two square diamonds on either side of it, and five little round chips on either side, also. Altogeter it is about 2.25 carats. I still keep finding myself staring at it ;) But I know I would have been happy with anything he gave me :D

Mine is in my journal (Can't Hardly Wait). The jeweler who was helping us said the same thing. It was actually one of the rings she picked out to carry in the store so she was really excited that I picked it (she didn't say anything until we had already made our desicion.

I love my ring! Justin had it custom designed because he couldnt find anything that he really liked. It is a 3 carat Cushion cut center stone with two one carat cushion cut center stones. I love it, at first i thought that it was a little big for my hand, but I have since fallen in complete love with it.

I just realized I never responded to this thread! How on earth did one get by me?! LOL
Anyway, yes, I love my ring. But James didn't pick it out. I already had the diamonds from my Nanny's ring and we just had them put in an updated setting. It is a 3-stone ring, but the diamonds are not in the same proportion to each other as they typically are in the Past, Present, Future rings. The side diamonds are much smaller than the center diamond. I keep meaning to post a pic in my journal, but I haven't taken any pics of it yet.

I love my ring, but most people that have seen it so far hate it. Its not an ordinary princess diamond engagment ring- thats why i like it so much! Its a 30 carrot ruby with a thin silver art deco band that came from Hollywood. It looks old, but there is no way to figure how old. Its a little larger than a nickle and people think that its too goddy looking. I thought that a little at first, but it really grew on me. It is an oval shape, so I am still trying to figure out how I should wear a wedding band. I feel bad cuz my FH sees how some people look at me wierd when they see my engagment ring, so he wants to buy me another one. no way, I love this one!

All that matters is that YOU love your ring. Who cares what anyone else thinks? :) I'm not doing a wedding band because I like my engagement ring by itself. You don't really need to have a band if you don't want, It's called a "marriage" ring without the wedding band.

Of course its how much I love it, thats why I don't want him to get me another one! :) But he is the one that feels kinda bad- like when I showed his best friend and he made a puking sound and said it was really ugly. I didn't really care but I think my FH is starting to think that he shouldhave gotten me a different one! :( I guess he just doesn't want other people to think that hes gonna be cheap with me or something.

Really, he's usually not an ***hole. I was kinda surprised how rude he was, but whatever. I think he hurt Brians feeling more than mine, Brian just didn't show it. That is the 2nd time someone was actually rude about my ring, others who dont like it just say "oh, thats different" and then drop the subject. The first time was a girl that I work with and when I showed it to her, she said "uggg, whats that??" and gave me a disgusted look. I never liked her, anyway. Its just kinda funny that so many peole expect to see the same thing that everyone else has (not that thats necessarily bad if they have similar rings) and how they react so rudely if its different. Like I always say, o-well, I don't care- I like it thats all that matters. :)

Sadly, I haven't gotten mine yet. But FH and I went to pick one out and he bought it. I saw the setting and the diamond but the diamond wasn't in the setting and to be honest, I can't remember what it looks like. It's been two months and he STILL hasn't proposed b/c supposedly he has some grandiose plan. Whatever.
Anyway, I do like it...kind of....haha, If I remember right I like it a lot. But I can't remember what it really looks like and I saw a ring that I thought looked like it and I was like Oh, look it's just like my ring and he was like no. Thank goodness b/c I really thought that ring was not pretty.
So I guess I love the ring a lot. Too bad I don't have it yet.

TropicalBride....you haven't gotten your ring yet either? I am still waiting on mine but the planning will commence. My FH teases me and says that if I have too I will plan the wedding and marry myself b/c I plan like everyday. I don't tell my plans to him though b/c he is still trying to pass that Teachers Exam. He's got enough to think about but I casually asked what the typical temp. was in November and he says it's cool but not cold why? And I gave him that dumb look so he knows that November is my chosen date. He just smiled so that's his way of saying I concur. I went to Marks and Morgan like a month and a half ago and I picked out the ring I want. He picked his out too but I don't know if I will get that one or if he will get me a bigger one. You will get it though...just try not to think about it

I could not imagine someone hating thier engagement ring, does this really happen?
Anyhow, my now fiance and I were dating for 6 years prior to our engagement and we had never NEVER discussed or shopped for rings. I gave him absolutely no help or hints on what kind I like or hate, ect.... In my opinion the engagement ring is his gift to you and what he would like you to have and what he sees you wearing, so I never understood going ring shopping, I also feel this ruins a bit of the surprise because then you know he is thinking about this sometime in the near future (Just my Opinion). He completely surprised me I had no idea it was coming, I was down in graduate school in Florida and he lived in my home state NJ, but my parents had seen it when he asked permission for the blessing.
I was so absolutely shocked at how absolutely beautiful the ring was it stopped my speach in absolute awww. Then we went to dinner and found out I have an original ring, that he picked out each stone, and he designed the ring months in advance. It was absolutely heart breaking.
I would not exchange this ring for anything and if I picked out my own ring it would not have been as gorgeous as his choice. The good part was I hate the solitare look its just not for me, and he didnt know that but he did a great job avoiding that look.

I absolutely love mine!!!
It looks similar to this: http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a36/beautifulsunset/3001881_Heart.jpg
FH designed this ring online a few months after we started dating and then bought me one just like it.
We did look at rings together but all but one of them that I tried on had round stones. My honey knows me better than I do sometimes. He knew exactally what I would like. I didn't have any say in it and had no clue that it was coming.
I wouldn't try my ring in for anything. I love it!!!

I've said this story so many times... I approved of a ring my husband found before we got angeaged. It was a 3 1/4 acrat european cut diamond with 1 carat diamonds on each side. When i finally got it the more I looked at it the more I hated it! It just wasn't what i had always dreamed about. So one day i just had to tell Chuck that I wasnt really happy with the ring and that I had always dreamed about a emerald or princess cut diamond. We finally called the jewler and he was nice enough to allow us to return the ring, we then went to to another more modern jeweler and got the diamond i really wanted but now i hate the setting, lol. I have a 3.06 carat princess solitaire set in a gold band, yuk! gold? wtf was i thinking?
Anyway that's my story. :p

I also love my ring, my FH and I went ring shopping alot!!! I showed him the style I liked and he even went further by doing a little research himself. I am a medical assistant so I put gloves on and off all day, I have had problems in the past with other rings ripping the gloves and so forth so he made sure the one he got me would be glove friendly!!!! He is so toughtful, I just love him so much.

I absolutely love my ring! It had to grow on me though because I guess my fingers are so fat and the night I got engaged I was retaining water. It squeezed my finger which gave the illusion of the ring being too big which is the one thing I told FH I hated.
However, now that my fingers are going down the ring looks so much better. Phew  I would definitely NOT tell FH that I didn't like the ring b/c he has worked soooooooooooo hard and sacrificed sooooooooooo much to get it for me.

You know, I was checking out your website and saw pics of your ring. I actually loved the gold setting. I think that gold adds a soft feminine touch to the ring. I know that platinum, white gold, etc. seem to be more popular nowadays, and I was iffy when I received yellow gold, but the more I wear it the more I appreciate how beautiful it is. Anyway, I just thought I'd give you my 2 cents and say that the gold setting makes your ring unique and beautiful!

I have white gold, but only because it looks better with my skin tone. I think that yellow gold is beautiful too, and I hate when girls who would look stunning in yellow gold go with white gold because it is the trend right now. Go with what looks best on you!

Do you like you engagement ring that your fiance picked out for you?
1.yes, i loved it!
2. It's alright
3.I hate it!
if you picked 2 or 3 did you ever say anything?
My ring is a simple solitaire. If it was any other piece of jewellery I would say it was a little plain for my taste because I love unusual jewellery with weird shapes and colourful designs, or antique jewellery, or Art Deco - in fact anything but plain; however as it's an engagement ring the usual judgements don't apply: he could give me a piece of coal on a band and if it signalled his lifetime commitment, I would be happy with it.

I have to Pick 1. I LOVE MY RING. Its a rose gold setting, which is very very pretty and the diamond is a yellow diamond (which actually, you can't really tell it's yellow in the setting, it looks like a colorless diamond). I picked it out myself because my fiance was scared to death of going by himself and getting something I didn't like. Its just a solitare settting because I want nothing complicated on my finger or in my life ;). Now, if he would just propose :D

YES I loved it. There was a girl that came into my work yesterday and she had the same one. Her step daughter asked me were Cody had go it. I said if her dad wanted them to know he would have told them. It doesn't matter where the ring comes from it the thought that counts.

I actually told my fiance I did not want white gold or platinum. I know they are popular now, but I have always loved yellow gold. I honestly don't own one piece of white gold or platinum jewelry. Plus, I feel like yellow gold is really traditional. It's always been my favorite.
And...I love my ring because I picked it out!!! It's three stones, which is what I've always wanted. It's a little over 1 carat total. And of course, A yellow gold band! It looks perfect on my hand!!

#1... I picked it out, so I'd better love it. But I never imagined he'd get me the exact one I picked out. I was just messing around and was like ok wich one is most exspensive... and I really ended up falling inlove with it. I love my Chrissy

1. I love mine too...mine is about 7/8 of a carat and has a nostalgic look. The diamonds are all round with the biggest on top as to come together like a flower the side bands go outward in the middle like a V-shape.

He proposed with a loner, then took me to the shop the next day to pick out the one I wanted. I LOVE my ring and I LOVE the way he did things.

i LOVE my ring! its his grandmother's and the sentimental value of it means way more to me than anything...and its a real diamond...that was important to me...that it was real...it could have been real tin with a real marble, as long as it was real...and what makes it even better is that he didn't even think about giving it to his ex when he proposed to her:p

That's what FH did with me, and I love every second of it. It was so fun to go and pick out my ring with him the next day. I was floating on cloud nine that next morning. Plus I know that I got a ring we both love!

We bought my ring very spur of the moment so of course I was there. He picked it out though after knowing what I wanted. Then he waited a few days before proposing, so kind of opposite to you alley and mariko!!

I absolutely love my ring but its not what I thought I wanted. Its funny because I always wanted a princess-cut (square) center stone with channel-set diamonds around the band. He asked my sister for advice on what to get and she emailed him some pictures but the link got messed up and he only saw the homepage of what she sent which had a gorgeous, classic round solitaire. So thats what he got thinking it was exactly what I wanted, and it turns out you can never go wrong with a classic - he jokes about getting me a square one when I least expect it but I love my ring and wouldn't trade it for anything.

I love it NOW. When I got it, it was everything I DIDN'T want. I wanted a ring with a princess cut with two side princess stones. I also wanted it in a white gold setting. My ring is a yellow gold setting with a round cut diamond. I honestly HATED this type of ring anywhere I would see it. Now that I have it. I LOVE IT! I would not trade it for the world. When he proposed he said I could take it into the jewelry store and the guy would let me exchange my ring for something that I wanted, but I never will do that. I feel that I love this ring so much because I know Cody picked it out and that it was what he felt was right for me! It is the most beautiful ring and I can't wait to get the wrap put on it for the wedding!

My ring is not at all what I would have picked out for myself, but when he slipped it on my finger it looked very right there. I really love it now.

I absolutely LOVE my ring! He pointed it out to me and ask what I thought about it a month or so before he proposed, so I did have a say in it. It has sort of a vintage look to it, which I LOVE! :D
I LOVE my ring.... I had no idea about the proposal so we had never even looked at a ring before. I wear all yellow gold...yet, he picked out a gorgeous platinum ring with a round cut center stone and two round cut accent diamonds on each side . I'm not sure of the carat wt. (isn't that awful I don't remember??) but he told me he was going more for clarity than size. The ring sparkles like crazy! I love it!!!

I can't remember if I replied to this or not but I love my ring. I didn't have a say in it as I had no idea he was asking me (I thought it'd be a while) but I have said I wanted a round center stone and he knows I prefer white gold because all of my other jewelry is white gold or silver.
I told him that he could not have picked a better ring and he really couldn't have. I know I'm probably biased, but I've never seen a ring that sparkles like this, it's crazy! I absolutely love it.
I ADORE MY RING!!! It is stunning! My husband did good way better than i would have ever picked and bigger LOL.
I dont have a picture of my ring but i need some. It yellow gold... it has a 1 carat princess cut diamond and it has two tapered baguette diamond side stones .. which has white gold accents around them.

this thread is super old, but I'm bringing it back to life to say that I love my ring.
My fiance and I went out looking at rings, the idea was for me to pick a few favorites and for him to make the end decision. I ended up only seeing 2 rings I like and one of them had really lit up my eyes but it was a little pricier then the first ring I picked out. He kept acting as though there was no way he'd buy that one because it was more... but when he proposed.. low and behold.. it was THE ring. I would have been just as happy with the less expensive ring, but he saw how this one list up my eyes.
The center stone is a .45 carat princess cut with a smaller princess cut on either side, and then smaller round diamonds set into the band on either side... and there are small round diamonds set on the inside on the front/rear views of the ring, in total 25 diamonds with a total 1.57 carat weight in white gold.

I absolutely love my ring. He picked it out himself and I couldn't be happier with it. I am a paramedic, so large solitaires aresn't a good idea because they poke through my gloves. He search and search for the perfect ring for me. It is three larger diamonds flanked by 3 smaller diamonds on each side. It is also in white gold which I LOVE!! I definately couldn't have done a better job at picking it out
