I bought a metal arch at Michael's for 5 dollars when they were on sale last summer to place at the head of the church for me and my finace to stand under during the ceremony. I'm not sure how to decorate it and the other problem that I'm having is that it won't stand up on it's own very well. How can I make it stay standing as well as make it pretty at the same time. I don't want my guests see the contraption that I have to use to make it sturdy.

could you could use boards to make stands, attach the arch, and then decorate the stands as well to hide them? i'd suggest ivy/flowers/white lights as decorations. i've seen that done and it's very pretty.

Do you have a handy man in the family that can help build a support system for the arch. Perhaps the support system can be covered with tulle to hide it.
Use the same flowers that are in your bouquests on the arch. The colors of the bridesmaids' dresses can determine the color of ribbon you might want to put on the arch.
The theme of your wedding can help as well. For example if you had a beach theme, you would use sea shells. Or if it is a winter wonderland theme you could use snowflakes.

Thanks for your ideas, I think that I'm going to have my dad and brother help me build a wooden support and then surround it with ivy and purple ribbon. I think that would be very cute. Thanks,

Never underestimate that sheer fabric (I forgot the name of it) tulle I think!
It covers the larger areas that are hard to decorate! It also comes in shades of purple! Looks great with white lights tucked inside!
