So I haven't made any bridal party decisions yet because i'm troubled with my selections (see Need Help!! Bridesmaid selections- Regarding my Bridesmaids).....

AS for my Maid of honor... I still haven't got a clue! I've been best friends with my friend Alexis since Middle School. Over the last year or so, we have definately grown apart. She never has time for me and is always too busy with her new boyfriend. The only time i've seen her in the last few months was when he was away. For a while i was calling her and emailing her every week, with out getting responses... after that went on for awhile, i decided it just wasn't worth all my trouble and not getting anything in return.

Well once I told her that we were engaged, she started coming around more. Still not very often at all, and I still rarely hear from her, but I think she automatically assumes that she is my maid of honor.

Now my fiance and i have been hanging out with another 'coupled' friends of ours and I really enjoy the company of my new friend Megan. We've been going places together, and going on mini weekend trips. It's probably been baout 6months that we've known each other.. Do you think that's too little, to ask her to be in my wedding party? Any help or advice any one can give me, I'd love!!

Chris,

YOu should have whoever you feel most close too. I am in a similar situation. I was close to one of my friends since 5th grade and a few years ago we had a falling out but when we were younger we would tell each other that we were going to be each others maid of honor. She still considers me her best friend i don't so i am going to have my cousin be my maid of honor. It's sound like you have already maid your mind up on who you want. if it was me i would go with the "new friend" and if your old friend says anything to you let her know how you feel and tell the truth.

I am in the exact position you are in. My friend sarah and i have been best friends for years. we hardly ever talk now. i call and email her and she gets back to me when its convienent for her or when she has time for me. my fiance and i have been hanging with another couple and tina, the new friend, and i have become very close. I was confused about what to do. I asked my new friend to be the maid of honor. i know that she has time for me and i can count on her to be there. i dont know now if i should ask sarah to even be a brides maid, i dont want to ask her and then the day of the wedding her boyfriend comes up with plans that are more important. i think you should pic your new friend. dont feel bad about it, it is your one day to shine and it has nothing to do with who gets a certain title.
