I think typically there is only one Maid or Matron of Honor. The difference between the two is marital status. A Matron is married, while a Maid is unmarried. The Maid/Matron of honor stands next to the bride, then the brides' maids. Hope that helps! ;)

It sounds like you must be having both a maid of honor and a matron of honor. Since this isn't done all that often, you should probably just pick whomever you want! If neither of them care and both have been helping you out the same, then just pick randomly.

all 5 of my sister's are married, or have been married and in a relationship so I am having my sister that I am close to for my maid of honor and the other 4 as my brides maids. That's the only way that I feel that they won't have words with each other who's gonna be what. and it won't be any trouble between any of them or me...

Remember that a married sister would be called a matron of honor, not maid of honor.

A matron of honor is simply a maid of honor who is, or has ever been, married. A "maid" traditionally means a virgin or unmarried woman, so a married woman would never be called a maid. Generally, you would not have one of each, though occasionally a bride will be torn and choose to have two maids of honor.

My aunt , did the same thing. I was her maid of honor and my mom was her matron. My mom stood beside her though. The way I look at it is a matron has a higher status, though.

You don't have both a maid and a matron of honor it's one or the other. The individual is a maid if she's single and matron if she's married. All other's are bridesmaids.

I am also having both at my wedding. Mt sister wile be my Maid of Honor and my aunt will be my Matron of Honor. My sister will stand next to me.

When my aunt got married I was her maid and her sister was her matron. I stood next to the bride.

I had both a maid and matron of honor at my wedding. My matron of honor was a very close friend and my maid of honor was my fiances sister. I had my matron of honor next to me and my maid of honor next to her. My maid of honor held my bouquet and my matron of honor fixed my train and veil hope this is helpful

I don't know if you're already married, but my cousin used "Ladies of honor/ladies of Distinction" for his wedding

This isn't about etiquette....this is one thing you should not compromise on your day. Who ever you need most, that is who you should have right there, standing by your side. They are your right arm, and you are going to be grateful you have the correct person helping you keep it together.
