I'm due to get married in December and I havent even began looking at wedding dresses. I'm kinda self consciense about looking at them due to the fact that i'm a big girl. What should I look for when deciding to buy. I want something that fits but something that doesnt make me like huge. I know I can get whatever I purchase tailored but I'd like some advice as to what kind of design and stuff of that nature I really need to be looking for. What neckline and what flow I should check into to fit my needs. I'm not a huge huge girl, my pant size is like a 16 to 18 and I have no clue as to what my dress size is. But I really need some help. If there's anyone out there who has had this problem or that can just help me, please email me your comments at redneckgal30531@yahoo.com. Thanks so much!!!

Hi Jessica -Im a curvey girl with 'more to love' myself but believe me wedding dresses are designed to make any body shape look great whatever your own hangups may be - i went for a dress that is 'roushed' (?sp) across the waist which pinches me in and gives me an hourglass silouette! A lot are also boned which helps hold in any lumps and bumps. I was originally looking at dress with shoulder straps but small sleeves are flattering if you dont like your upper arms (i am buying a matching bolero jacket to cover mine). I choses a sweet heart neckline which softens my broad shoulders
But trust me dont worry about it as the women that work in the dress boutiques are very experienced in helping find the right dress for you and will make you feel at ease. Hope this helps, Good luck and enjoy - its a lot of fun!

hey thanks so much!! yea i'm a little on the robusc side lol. I have an extremulous bust area and it's hard to find normal clothes to fit me right none the less a wedding dress. I appreciate your kind words and hope that I can really find something to fit my body type. I'm sure the sales consultants can help me to get me to where I need to be but I was unsure of what to do next i guess. Thanks again for your help it's greatly appreciated! and Congrats!!!

yea just ask and they can help...but you have to try things on, even if you are not sure. Just to make sure. I refused to have a dress w/o sleeves, so when I decided on a strapless dress, I asked them to add a sleeve. And davids bridal has sleeves that they can add to any of the dresses.

I found this info below from http://www.henryroth.com/tip2.php They have some dress suggestions on the site, too. I have found the Ball Gown dresses to be pretty flattering to me, since I have a pear shaped to hourglass shaped body. I'm a size 20, for reference. I tried dresses on at David's Bridal, which was really nice since they have SO many different types, so I could really get a feel of what looked/felt right for me. I then am now going to smaller stores and can go in there and see if they even have anything that will look good on me.
Hourglass: Two-piece and corset dresses enhance the hourglass figure. Anything that accentuates the bride’s waist is in. Beautiful ball gowns and corseted bodices normally work for the bust line as well. Bridal bouquets should not overwhelm. Bridal headpieces should not be overdone if the bridal ball gown is elaborate.
Pear shaped. A-line princess dresses disguise fuller hips and the pear shaped body types best. This also balances torso to bust. Chapel length bridal veils add sleeker lines. For wedding hairstyles don’t have all your hair swept up to help emphasize balance.
Petite: Clean, unbroken contours without too much fabric tend to elongate.Big Ball gowns and mermaid wedding dress shapes can overwhelm. Chapel or finger-tip bridal veils ensure that the petite bride is framed well. Keep bridal accessories and wedding accessories to a minimum.
Tall: From ball gowns, princess line and A- line wedding dresses, straight bridal dresses and mermaid dresses; all are great for the tall bride who can carry almost any dress style. Avoid empire line dresses that can look almost “tent like”. Avoid wedding flowers or bouquets that are too small or large. Ensure they work proportionately with you and your body type.

Fuller waisted: Princess-line and drop waist wedding dresses are most flattering. Draw the eye up with stunning bridal and wedding accessories. Killer Diamonds will do the trick! Bridal shoes with height may assist.
Broader shoulder: Wedding tip number #1. Broader shouldered brides should veer from halter and off-the-shoulder necklines, which tend to accentuate the shoulders. Try strapless and scoop necklines. For bridal accessories fine delicate jewelry works best with your body type.
Fuller busted: Bridal corsets can work magic. You will find reputable names under bridal supplies or bridal accessories. Wedding dresses that are scoop and square necklines enhance bust lines. Widely set apart straps diminish fuller busted figures. Strapless dresses are on your wedding checklist as a “wait and see how it looks possibility”.
Fuller Arms: Off the shoulder straps or sheer fabric is a great wedding dress tip. In solid fabric, usually three-quarter or long sleeve works best to elongate the line of the arm. Sleeves should not be cut tight. Ever!

It is the one my sister bought from this seller last month.NOt in silk but soft enough to comfortable wear. And reasonable price is most attractile.
As far as know, custom made for big size is their speciality.
They will give you the professional advice.
Wish this will help you.:)

Jessica,
I found the most helpful thing was bringing a digital ***era along with us gowns I really liked I had my Mom take pictures of me in them and I went with my hair done in the style I had choosen (not exactly as perfect as the professional will do it but close enough). Only one Bridal Shop had a problem with the ***era so we just left.
You'd probably start trying on gowns in the 18-20 size range usually have to up a size or two. If they are real loose go down a size that is where the ladies at the Bridal shop will come in. As far as style if you really aren't sure try on a couple you really like regardless of the style because you really have to see yourself in the gown its hard to just pick the style you like from the rack or online.

Hum…….It’s hard to say.Since my sister has the same worry before the decision. She is very tall and hard to find a bridal gown which is long enough anywhere. It was the main reason why she made the final order online. And the price is attractive, too,(Much lower than bridal shops.) She was so exciting anf told me that she cant wait to dress in it. One day seems like a year is beyond exactly for her.OMG! 29 days later, the package arrive. She open it and try it extremely anxious.Perfect! Wonderful artical excelling nature is not overpraised.Everything is ok except the cloth is not silk. So,I think, custom made online will be a considerable choice for wedding gowns.:)
