I don't know anything about picking a wedding dress. I have several pictures of dresses that I like that I have saved from magazines but I don't know where to start. What is the best way to determine which one I want. They all look so beautiful.
Thank you!!

In my experience, the look of a gown in a magazine was totally different once it was on. I would go to a couple different bridal shops and try on miscellaneous dresses. Trust me, when you've tried on "the one" you'll know.

I knew some things that I liked looking at, but had no idea what I really wanted in a dress. Then I went and tried some on, and "the one" stood out from the crowd. It wasn't about it being a nice looking dress, it was about how I looked in it, and what it did for me. Find that dress that makes you shine through, and you will find your "one".

When I went to pick out my dress I had one that I saw in a catalog and I went to try it on it I hated it on me. I went to a couple of different shops and had a ball trying dresses on. The one that I picked out was one that I had said that I didn't want but it looks wounderful on me. Just like when you know you want to marry the guy you get the feeling. Same way with the dress. Have fun trying them on. Its a wounderful experience.

Take a ***era and take PICS of you in the dresses, look them over when you get home (don't make a decision that day)...then when you do go back to decide on your final choice if you like it the same way you had the day you tried it on go 4 it! Just so you don't make a snap decision that day ** I saw this advice somewhere** or maybe my friend told me this! I can't remember, but it's worth trying.
Oh, I didn't help with your question yet... I think the advice given above is perfect! Couldn't have said it better myself!

I took pictures of dresses to the bridal shop to see if they had any of them. She showed me the ones she had, and I noticed on that I had seen and liked in the mags. We talked about it and she took it down and showed it to me and I just knew it was the one. I didn't even try it on for a really long time. I think when you see the dress you'll just know. :)

Thanks fo your ideas. I guess it really matters how the dress looks on me and not the model, so I plan to do a lto of shopping and have my maid of honor take a lot of pictures. Between the two of us I think i'll have the perfect dress. Thanks.

You can try going to a salon and determining which style you like first.

I thought I knew which dress I wanted for sure. I tried it on and I wasn't as crazy about it as I thought. I tried on another dress and I had butterflies! I was so excited! I know it sounds corny, but it is true... You will know when the dress is "the one" but I HIGHLY recommend trying it on.
If you go to the dress manufacturers website or call them, they should be able to give you a list of stores in your area that carry their dresses... Hope that helps!
You ladies are not the only ones that have gone to a bridal shop to try on dresses and when you find the right one you know. At first I was going to have a white dress with no sequins .... sort of just a plain jane. Then when I took several pictures of wedding dresses to the bridal shop that we have in town I realized all of the ones I picked out I hated. Plus, white drained me out really bad and I looked as though I had no color in my skin. Then when I was almost ready to give up the gal brought me out one more dress to try on. It was ivory with a lot of sequins. I just knew that I wouldn't like it cause of how "elegant" the dress looked. To my surprise, I loved it and it will be the gown that I get for the wedding. Here is the dress I am going with ... http://www.marysbridal.com/bridal/5186.htm. The dress is absolutely beautiful and the pictures do nothing for it in the magazine or on the website. The dress has two color choices so I am going to go with the ivory and silver sequins. Which really matches the color of my wedding cause before I even found this dress the colors were navy, silver, and white. Well now they colors are navy, silver, and ivory.

Try as many dresses on as you want. And don't go into a salon with your heart set on a certain dress. And take a friend with you (male or female) that will be brutally honest about how a gown looks. The salon employees will insist that every gown looks amazing on you.

You all were right. I tried on several dresses but I fell in love with the second one I tried on. It's style was different from the ones in the magazines. Thanks
