In planning my wedding I am on a strick budget. I am trying to cut costs where ever I can. Would anyone mind telling me the average cost of the following. I want to make sure that I'm getting the best deals.
SO far I have found:
DJ : $500 (4-5) hours during the reception
Catering: $8.00 per person (with 120 people that is about $1000)
Photography: $899(4-5 hours with 275 proofs plus they give you some pictures)
I was wondering if these prices are good, or I could do better, or what prices you all have seen. I don't have any experince with weddings or how much they cost. Other than these three things, is there anything that I'm forgetting that will cost a lot? We plan to have our reception at the church to cut costs. Plus they will let us decorate.
Please help!!
Thanks, :)

These prices really depend on the location that you are in.. but from what I can tell, they'd be really good prices around where I live.. it sounds like a pretty good deal.

We are paying:
$475 for DJ - 1.5 hours of dinner music & 4 hours for a dance... we even got a free hour or half hour of dinner music.
$14.95-$16.50 for dinner - we haven't decided on a menu yet and the price chages with the number of main dishes you pick.
$1400 for photographer - 8 hours of coverage, 160-170 proofs, $200 in free reprints, 30ish shot engaement shoot, we get the negatives and a 11x14 portrait where they take out the color from everything but like the flowers or baloons or wahtever.
so i'd say you're dong really good. I thought we had got a deal or two, I wish I had your number of proofs. We have a large wedding party and family.

You have VERY good deals (better than mine)
Wedding attire will cost alot, not to mention transportation!
Reception favors can add up depending what you choose... do this and the decorating yourself to save money.... choose flowers in season!!! a big must!!! otherwise OUCH! oh, cake & beverages also.
If I think of anymore I'll be sure to write it down!

Hello.
These stats are from Modern Bride.
The average bride and groom forks up $10,560 on the reception; $3,657 on the honeymoon; $3,200 towards the engagement ring; $1,500 in photographic services; $1,150 on flowers; $840 on the wedding dress; $175 for a head piece; $95 will be
spent on the groom’s attire; $750 for a DJ or music and another $350 for music at the ceremony; $500 on transportation; $375 to invite family and friends (which is a conservative number); $350 for the clergy; $375 on cake and $430 to thank the attendant’s with gifts. On top of that, a bridal party of five will spend around $790 on apparel, groomsmen will spend $485 and a rehearsal dinner usually costs $695
Hope that helps.
