I was wondering if anyone could give me a suggestion on what kind of veil to get. My dress has a v in the back that ends just below the shoulder blades and a bow where the skirt meets the bodice. I was thinking a single layer finger tip. Anyone with any suggestions? I'll try to instert a link to the dress. http://www.bonny.com/bonny/243.html

It seeam a shame to cover up much of the back of that dress.

The model is wearing an elegant tiara. It just goes with the dress.

Why not consider the same.

In lieu of a veil,, maybe a detachable back piece veil that extends just above the V would look nice.

I think it would look kind of funny to end the veil above the line of the back. I would suggest a single, unadorned layer of net with no edge that falls just below the V. It will make the back decoration a bit less clearly visible, but it won't hide it completely or break it up jarringly.

Thanks for the suggestions. I wasn't planning on the veil, but my mother wants it. I was thinking that it should be long and end under the bow. I 'm not sure how it would look to cut the eye off with the line of the veil between the v and the bow. I'm pretty sure it won't have anything on it, but I was thinking about the thin satin corded edge. I have a feeling that this is gonna be the hardest piece to pick. But how many layers should it be? I was thinking just one. I"m still hopeing for more help...
Thanks everybody.

Depending on your build, perhaps a single layer waltz length with a hand-rolled edge. Do you have a train on your dress? Maybe even a chapel or cathedral length would look good in a single sheer layer.

I have the exact same dress!! I was also wondering what do do for a veil because I jsut don't think that it would look okay from the back to have a veil. Although when I tried on the dress they had a veil that had the wine color that is in the dress on the outside of it, I thought that looked okay..But I just think the back is so gorgeous so why would I want to cover that with a veil?

Was the veil with the trim the one made by Bonny? I really like that one, but the lady at the bridal shoppe told me that would be too much with what was on the back of my dress. Did the colored trim cut off where you looked? Like it created a line that was distracting. That's why I made this post. I just don't know. :(

I am not sure if it was made by bonny, it was just a little bit of color around the outside of the veil, just enough to complement the dress. I don't htink it created a line that was distracting, I guess I wasn't paing good enough attention because I didn't even plan on buying a veil that day and the lady just through it on me...but I don't think it looked bad

You know I think I might just make one and leave it plain. That way if I don't like it I'll be out like $10 or less. Regular tulle is only 77 cents a yard and a sparkle one is $1 a yard at Wal-Mart. And a 4 inch comb can't be that expensive. There are instructions on Michaels.com on how to make one. It'll be easy. And I can always start with it long and cut it down with out destroying a $60 veil. :)

I think that a single layer veil would be pretty with it.. maybe not go any longer then where the back of the dress starts. The dress is too beautiful to cover up with a veil. Have you talked to your mom and explain to her that the dress you have chose looks really beautiful and elegant with a tiara only? I think if you were to show her and prove to her that a veil looks a little funny that she'll agree not to wear one. I think making it is a good idea.. you wont be spending much and if it doesn't look good with the dress, you don't have to wear it.

That is the most beautiful dress I've ever seen! I'm stunned! I think I just changed my mind lol!

I had picked out a rather simple dress that I really liked that didn't have a train - it was nice, but when I saw this picture, I actually started to cry! I had been going back and forth between two similar dresses and had pretty much settled on one because it was a bit more modern but I've never had this reaction to seeing a dress! Oh MY GOD!
Just one question - since you already have the dress - is it able to be bustled? That would be my only concern.

I have the same dress as well and you can absolutely have it bustled....it is a bit more expensive because of the way the dress is designed...and if you want to have it bustled with the two side of wine color coming together in the back (if that makes any sense). The other great thing about this dress is it wasn't nearly as expensive as I thought it would be the first time I saw it in a magazine.

Thanks so much! Bustling it won't be a big deal - my grandmother can do it - I just wanted to make sure that there was a way to do it. I did check out the prices of the dress and wow! Its really quite inexpensive! I thought for sure when I saw the picture that it was going to be around 1200.00 - but I found it locally for 675 and I found it online for 540. So not too bad at all :)
I can't believe how absolutely perfect this dress is. I mean, it just doesn't get any better than this one - at least for me :)
Thanks for the info!

$504.46 on sale with tax. I fell in love with the dress in a mag and the first store I went to had it and it ***e in lavender. I never looked at another dress. I make a veil myself that is about calf lenght. I'm gonna leave it until the dress comes in. I figure I can buy a veil on the fly if I have to. I have seen pictures of the dress bussled on other sites and I can wait. I was shown in a shop how it looks like a ribbon trailing down the back and they said it's easy to do. There are so many different styles to bussels that you just have to try and try until you find the right one. At first I wasn't so sure I wanted to drag all that dress around all night, but for one princess day I'll deal and love it!

I had the same rection sort of... I knew that was my dress.. the only dress.. no other dress... just like the bm dresses. I kept going back to the same pictures again and again. I know in my heart that is my dress made just for me... it has my name on it. :D and I look good in it. I figured my mother and the FMIL wouldn't like it. Everyone loves it, even thought they saw me in a size 26 or 28 dress and it was the ivory on ivory instead of the white and lavander. Bussles are the least of my worries. I'm more worried about the beading and my dad stepping on the train... and how to go to the bathroom in that huge dress... :p you know.. the important worries. The bussle no matter how it's done looks beautiful... here's a link to a picture I found of it bustled. Just to calm your fears...
On the first page NIkki has a pic in the post. there are many examples here... http://www.weddingchat.com/showthread.php?t=214043&page=1&pp=40
Annon had one too.....but I can't seem to find the pics. If you surf around on the chat boards there, you will find some on Bonny dresses and a lot of them will include pics.

Thanks! That does look great :) I'm really getting excited! :) When you find something so perfect, it makes the little not-so-perfect-but-pretty-good stuff seem really very miniscule :)

I almost started crying when I reading bjmy1975's response about going back to the picture over and over again. That is exactly what I am doing. I saw the picture on the internet and I can't stop looking at it. It is sort of the same as the dress that had been posted as a link-which is absolutely beautiful. I have decided not to go with a veil for some of the same reasons posted earlier, the detail in the back. Just for fun here is the link for the dress that I would like to wear on my wedding day.

Now I'm starting to waiver on my colors! I saw a closeup of the navy/white dress (bonny#243) and I'm thinking I might want that one instead of the wine! My bridesmaids dresses come in navy as well - and I think the colors will match better - the wine color I was having a hard time matching to. I think it'll really just flow better with the sapphire stones in my ring and tiara and also the fact that I have very dark blue eyes. Only problem is, it screws up my flowers! lol! I don't like blue flowers! haha ;) Why is this stuff so easy when you're doing it for someone else but sucks when doing it for yourself?!?! :P I guess I could go with white or wildflowers ( I love love love wildflowers and my bridesmaids will be carrying white roses) I just think that the white dress will wash out white flowers - I could go with champaign colored flowers, I just don't know if they'd look "dirty" - anyone have any suggestions? I"m really thinking of going with the navy over the wine....
I KNOW its the dress I want, I just have to figure out which color I want now :P

I tried to see your dress with the blue but it didn't come up, but I do have a few suggestions. If you are ok with changing your dress from white to an off white/ivory colour you will still be able to have white flowers. If you went a champaign color for the flowers, I really don't think that they will look dirty. People always think of flowers being beautiful not dirty. If you still are not sure and do want to have your bouquet match your dress, simply have a few blue flowers through out. From what you have described (eventhough I have not seen the blue dress) I would go with the blue. It sounds so perfect, how it matches with your eyes, ring. Oh I just thought of an idea....a white bouquet with babies breath died blue as an accent. Let me know what you decide.

What a great idea! I never thought of doing that with the baby's breath! :) I'm definitely going with the navy blue now - the only picture I've found of the navy is on the uk site http://www.bonnybridaluk.co.uk/243navy.htm
I'm definitely going with the white/navy. I've already changed my bridesmaid dress colors - I'm pretty sure I'm going with snow white flowers for them - and I think I'll go with the white for me as well - with some smaller blue flowers. I found some sapphire peonies that would be great accent flowers.

I've never seen it in blue before... just the wine. I really like the navy... better than the wine.. but not better than the lavander. I can't wait until I get my dress... Hopefully in three months... I ordered it today!! YAY!!

Very cool - are you wearing a headpiece at all? The one in the picture bonny #2806 is the one I want - I just haven't been able to find anywhere locally that carries it - or anywhere online that I can order it.

I recently did a veil for a bride who had a sapphire and diamond ring with scattered dark blue crystals- It was amazing! I wish I had a photo. You could add them yourself to the veil of your choice. I also added the same crystals to her Tierra. A jeweler could do that for you as well.

I won't be wearing a veil - I don't want to cover up the back of the dress and the flyaway veils just don't look right on me

I believe the right veil can accentuate the dress- but I am prejudiced. With your dress you might consider a veil that comes just past the shoulders- bring all that attention to the detail in the back and the front while making a soft cloud around your face. Just a thought. Hope you don't think I am to pushy in suggesting it.

Nah I don't think you're pushy :) That's what a flyaway veil is - it goes just to the shoulder area. I just don't think it looks right with the dress on me. On others I think it looks great, but with it being white for some reason the veil added to the dress makes me look jaundiced - I'm very very pale skinned

My gown is open most of the way down my back and I didn't want a veil b/c I didn't want to hide the fact that the gown is backless. My mom kept mentioning a veil (hints), and we found a blusher veil attached to a comb. It's 2 layers and very, very sheer, so the gown isn't hidden. Attached at the back of the crown of my head, it barely reaches my waist, and I can remove it from my hair after the ceremony.
